The day had started like any other. Y/N woke up early to a quiet, peaceful morning in the Slytherin common room. Her room was covered in soft, green light, the rays of the sun peeking through the windows. She had spent the last few weeks caught up in work, and today was supposed to be a day for herselfβno clients, no distractions, just a bit of time to relax and sketch.
But as soon as she made her way down to the common room, she found Mattheo, his usual aloofness missing. He was perched on the couch, waiting for her with a lazy grin that stretched across his face when she entered.
"Good morning," Y/N greeted, setting her things down and walking over to him.
"Morning," Mattheo replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes. As she came closer, he reached out, pulling her into his lap without warning. "You're not going anywhere today, right?" he asked, his voice half teasing, half serious.
Y/N blinked in surprise but didn't try to escape. "Uh, I was planning to get some work done, actually," she replied, looking up at him with an eyebrow raised.
His arms tightened around her, pulling her even closer. "I need your attention," Mattheo said dramatically. "You can't just leave me all alone today."
Y/N couldn't help but laugh. "You're being extra today. What's going on with you?"
Mattheo just shrugged, his chin resting on her shoulder. "I don't know. Just... I want you close today. I've missed you."
There was a vulnerability in his tone that took her by surprise, making her heart soften. It wasn't like him to be so openly clingy, but it was endearing in its own way. She smiled and leaned back into his chest. "Alright, I'm all yours," she said, her voice light.
And from that moment, Mattheo was glued to her side for the entire day.
As the hours passed, Y/N found herself getting distracted more and more. She tried to sketch, but Mattheo would distract her with playful comments or little touches. It wasn't long before he was back to his clingy ways, practically draped over her in every way possible.
When Y/N stood up to get a drink, Mattheo followed her, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and resting his head against her back. He had a soft sigh, like he was content to simply be in her presence.
"Mattheo," she said, trying to get him to stop so she could move. "You're going to turn into a human pillow at this rate."
He grinned, his fingers tracing lazy circles on her stomach. "I don't mind. You've got the best kind of warmth, you know?"
"Stop being so cute," Y/N teased, her heart melting a little as she tried to push him off, though she didn't really want to. There was something comforting about having him so close.
After she had made herself a quick lunch, she sat back down with her food, only for Mattheo to slip beside her, stealing half of her sandwich without asking.
"Hey!" Y/N laughed, trying to stop him, but he just gave her a cheeky smile.
"You weren't eating it fast enough," Mattheo said, his voice a mock pout.
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips. "You're so lucky you're cute," she said.
They ended up spending the afternoon like thatβhim hovering, making sure to touch her every few moments, his head resting on her lap while she worked, or his arm around her waist when they walked to the library together. It was so different from the usual, where Mattheo would tease but remain distant, not letting himself fall too deeply into the affection.
By the evening, the clinginess had only increased. They had moved to the Slytherin courtyard, where Y/N was trying to catch up on some reading. Mattheo, of course, had other plans. He sat next to her, occasionally snaking his hand over hers or leaning his shoulder against hers whenever he wanted to catch her attention.
"I'm getting nothing done with you all over me," Y/N said with a half laugh, shaking her head as Mattheo rested his head on her shoulder.
"I'm not bothering you," he protested lightly, nuzzling against her.
"Uh, yes, you are. You're distracting me on purpose," she said, her voice amused, though she didn't mind it as much as she let on. He made her feel safe, happy, and incredibly cared for.
"Maybe," Mattheo conceded. He then reached for her hand, his fingers intertwining with hers, and held it tightly. "But only because I don't want to let you go."
Y/N squeezed his hand and, for the first time that day, gave in completely, relaxing into him. "Alright, Mattheo. You win. I'll be here all day for you. Clingy and all."
"That's all I want," Mattheo murmured with a smile, pressing a soft kiss to her temple.
As the sun set, painting the sky with hues of orange and purple, Y/N found herself sitting in Mattheo's lap in the common room again. They were surrounded by quiet, the soft crackling of the fire the only sound between them. It was a peaceful, warm moment.
Mattheo gently traced patterns on her skin with his fingertips. "Can we just stay like this forever?" he asked quietly.
Y/N turned to face him, her heart swelling with affection. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, the genuine care and love he had for her.
"Of course, we can," she replied softly, leaning in to kiss him. "I don't mind being a little extra for you, Mattheo. I really don't."
And for the rest of the evening, they stayed like thatβclinging to each other in the most peaceful, content way, enjoying every second of being together.
