JULY 08, 2019

Almost all teams that advanced to the playoffs had passed the first round, onto the third round closely. It wasn't easy to watch, but it seemed like it was for Madeleine and Jack.

Surprisingly, The Devils managed to pass through the first round against their opposing team. The Canadiens had also passed the first round successfully like it was effortless.

New Jersey had a rough patch in the first part but somehow they even got stronger together as Madeleine and Jack had begun having sex before and after games.

It was a little strange at first but their love for each other was unbreakable. When it started, Madeleine felt like a teenager all over again. She began doing fun activities with her boyfriend, forgetting all other things.

She was having fun and she loved it. She never wanted it to disappear she knew she needed it. After the messy divorce and the papers, it was too much and having that fun time was probably a good thing for her right now.

Although, it has been almost two weeks since Madeleine saw the article. She didn't know what to tell Jack, she was so nervous. But at one point, it was clear that Jack was going to know about it either way.

Madeleine should've done it in the first place. It was more pleasing for her to tell him than to find out on his own. She was too afraid-not for her career but for what she might lose.

It was ten PM in Toronto and Jack had travelled there to see his girlfriend. He knew he should've not done that, but it was worth it at least.

"Mason's sleeping?" Jack asked and Madeleine hummed in response, nodding her head. Jack giggled inside, knowing that it was just the two of them now.

All of a sudden, Madeleine felt her heart thump rapidly for a second, her insides began to shake and she knew what this was about.

"I need to tell you something." She spoke up. "It's hard to explain. And this is such bad timing but I think it's better if I tell you then for you to find out on your own."

"Babe, what's going on? Are you ok?" Jack slightly frowned, concern forming in his voice as he began to stroke his girlfriend's thigh gently.

A tear instantly formed in Madeleine's eyes as one slipped onto her cheek. She sniffled and quickly wiped the tears, but Jack saw it. He reached in and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"I'm sorry. It's just..." Her voice cracked at the end. Jack placed his arm halfway around her neck and pulled her closer as the two hugged.

Before they knew it, a door was loudly slammed, suddenly catching their attention. The couple looked over and Madeleine knew-right at that point-she was in deep shit.

Her eyes widened in fear as she stood up, wiping her tears off her cheeks. She glanced at her ex-husband standing near the front door in shock.

"Brend-" Madeleine started.

"Save it. What the fuck is this?" Brendan said through gritted teeth as he glanced over at Jack sitting on the couch expressionless.

"Don't start this, Brendan," Madeleine exhaled and Brendan looked at her as if she was delusional and had broken his feelings, furrowing his brows deeply.

"Me? What is this?" He replied, pointing and crossing his finger at the couple rapidly.

Madeleine caught her breath for a split second. "Don't. Mason's sleeping upstairs." Brendan cursed under his breath, needing to scream loudly at the young boy.

Then, Jack thought for a moment and slowly stood up, catching Madeleine and Brendan's attention. "You know him?"

"Fuck," Madeleine mumbled, scratching behind her ear nervously. "It's, uh, complicated, Jack." She tried to answer, the only sentence she ever thought of.

"You're fucking him?" Brendan exclaimed, his forehead raised in disbelief.

Madeleine ignored him and answered her boyfriend. "He's my ex-husband." The second it left her mouth, Brendan scoffed loudly and Madeleine glanced at him, narrowing her eyes.

"It's not official." He declared, confidently. Jack had his fists clenched tightly ready to be used for Brendan's face in a second.

"You know what, Brendan, fuck off. You don't get to boss me around like that. You're not my husband anymore anyway. Not once when you fucking cheated on me with multiple women," Madeleine erupted with rage, her blood cells seething on the outside.

Brendan had stopped himself, his mouth shut closed as he looked at Madeleine in disbelief. He realized what he had done and crossed his eyes between the young hockey star and his wife.

"I had enough of this," Madeleine let out a deep breath once she clenched her jaw in stress. "Brendan, just get out of my house. What did you even need?"

He gulped. "Uh..." He forgot what he needed the second he stepped inside Madeleine's home. His mind was going into different places and it was slowly giving him a headache. "I'm sorry, I'll leave."

Madeleine felt relieved. After what all happened. It was not good.
