"t-tooru", she pulled away even though she didn't want to, panting, "the auction-"

his hips snapped closer to hers, prompting another gasp from her.

"we can be quick", he promised, his hand fully creeping up her thigh, "i need you so bad, baby"

she recalled that tooru was number twenty five at the auction and it had only just begun so... they definitely had enough time. that reasoning was enough for her.

-โ€ข-โ€ข-

the panic in the room was intense when they heard the auctioneer announce in the distance.

"player number twenty five, oikawa tooru"

and now...

-โ€ข-โ€ข-โ€ข-

outrageous.

that's the word y/n would use to describe the situation she was in.

absolutely outrageous.

it wasn't the word only she would use. it was the word that would be used in articles, in tweets, between gasps and in whispers.

in whispers as oikawa tooru walked onto the ramp to be bid on.

he was nearly picture perfect. with his brown hair just the right amount of messy and his eyes glinting with just the right amount of amusement.

nearly picture perfect.

the top few buttons of his dress shirt were undone, the tie he had worn when he first entered the premises nowhere to be seen. if one looked closely enough, there was a lipstick stain on the crisp white collar.

but that wasn't what had caught everyone's attention.

it was the dark purple marks.

hickeys. on his neck. above his collarbone. one on his chest, exposed by the undone buttons of his shirt.

his smirk was a testament to how aware he was of his appearance. he knew exactly what he was doing.

he briefly glanced at his girlfriend as she rushed to get back to the crowd, looking less than decent herself.

"what the-", axel was the first to catch on as he looked at her, raising his eyebrows, "are you... did you..."

she merely nodded, taking a deep breath and trying to look decent. and failing.

"i'm sorry...", she breathed, eyes widening when she looked at oikawa, "fuck, this is..."

"oikawa tooru", the auctioneer could give less of a fuck about how he looked, "bidding begins at 75,000"

there was a second of silence before the chaos began.

it was so funny. it was absolutely hysterical how no one cared that his catwalk was a walk of shame.

the numbers racked up like nobody's business. there were bids flying in from everywhere.

from signature rich girls, from journalists who wanted to know the story behind his appearance, from his own agency.

y/n had unintentionally succeeded in doing what she was here to do.

"wow", axel snorted, "why didn't you tell me that you-"

"my brother is his best friend", she gave him as much context as she could, "we have known each other literally forever and-"

"and you love him", her boss pointed out bluntly, "am i wrong?"

"yeah apparently everyone always seems to know that"

she nodded, still conscious of her own appearance. she was grateful that axel wasn't reacting badly to this, because her old boss would've severely reprimanded her for the same.

"you look fine", axel continued, "you left more of your mark on him than he did on you"

his words were literal, because she didn't really have any marks. it probably owed to the fact that she didn't let him take the reins but it satisfied her to know what others did not.

"axel", y/n found herself feeling bold that evening, and a little curious.

"yeah?"

"are you married?", she questioned and to her surprise, he could barely hide his amusement.

"why do you ask?", he tilted his head, "especially now"

"no i've wanted to ask for sometime, given that you and the secretary..."

"are you tracking my movements?", he chuckled, somehow showing no remorse or defensiveness, "my secretary is pretty, isn't she?"

"so are you an asshole?", she fired back, immediately regretting as the words escaped her lips, "...sir. are you an asshole, sir?"

"do you know what a marriage of convenience is?", he questioned, apparently not offended by her question, "i'm in a marriage where... well, we're both unfaithful from the beginning."

"that must be..."

"no one's a real saint there", he assured, "the only good thing to come out of my marriage is my daughter"

"you have a daughter??", she furthered, "how old?"

"well, she's the reason i got married in the first place", axel shook his head, "i actually think she also had something going on with your-"

"dad???", the voice from behind them only made y/n more anxious because it was one she recognised.

"cami!", axel waved, "didn't expect to see you here sweetheart!"

"cami, hi!", y/n simply wanted to laugh at how small the whole fucking world seemed to be

"what are you doing with my dad??", cami's eyes were wide as she looked from her to axel

"you two know each other?", axel chimed in, "y/n works for me. isn't it weird for both of you to know each other knowing that-"

"no", y/n and cami chorused

"400,000!", the bid brought their attention away from the bizarre situation and back to another bizarre situation.

there was a fierce three way fight going on for one date with everyone's beloved oikawa tooru. it was the highest anyone had gone for that night.

y/n could surprisingly care less about who got him in the end. the only thing that mattered was that he fucked her twenty minutes ago.

his agency finally succeeded in outbidding everyone but incurred a sizeable loss for it. oikawa was free to go home after the event.

free to go back home to his girlfriend and go another round.

-โ€ข-โ€ข-โ€ข-

"are you sure?", oikawa leaned in, placing another deep kiss on her lips.

the brunette had turned his phone off as soon as he entered the boundaries of his house and met y/n, who had let herself in. he wanted to give her all of his attention.

another round later, they were sitting up in bed, naked, finally watching the world react to him.

he had a fresh couple of hickeys and she was running her fingers over them, laughing at how he hissed and how his muscles flexed.

"it hurts", he whined, "hurts, baby"

"really?", she was now sitting in his lap and peppering soft kisses over the hickeys, laughing into his neck.

she looked back at his phone, surprised to see such a reaction from his fans and the media.

"should i tell everyone?", he questioned, his hand rubbing her thighs, "that i'm not single?"

"you would?", she asked back, running her fingers through his hair. he leaned into her touch, a lazy smile splayed across his face.

"i won't say it's you, i'll just confirm...", he pecked her lips again, "...that i'm in love"

"are you, now?", she whispered, kissing the tip of his nose. he laughed softly.

"very much"

she gazed at him again... wondering if she'd ever felt as happy as she did right now. but then she remembered-

"tooru"

"hmm?"

"before you tell the rest of the world...", she whispered, "we have to tell..."

-โ€ข-โ€ข-โ€ข-

"speak", hajime was scrutinising the expressions of his little sister and best friend as they peered at him nervously from the other side of the screen.

oikawa was so fucking nervous. he had been mentally preparing himself about this for an hour.

fine, two hours.

y/n was not that concerned because she thought that maybe her brother already saw it coming. and she could honestly handle him better than oikawa. he was reasonable.

"sooo...", she was eventually the one that decided to take the lead, "some things... happened..."

"do you think i don't know what happened at that auction?", his bluntness made oikawa shudder.

"it was for charity", the setter reasoned even though he knew his argument would only increase hajime's urge to punch him.

"haji, we know you know", she sighed, "and we talked it out. we're okay."

"and what if you two break up?", he questioned, "and what if oikawa hurts you-"

"i won't", oikawa cut him off, shaking his head, "i promise"

"neither of you can guarantee shit", iwa reminded, "i don't want to be caught between any of it"

there were murmurs of agreement and she felt oikawa's hand settle down on her thigh. both of them would be okay.

it was only a few minutes after they hung up the call that oikawa picked up his phone to do what he wanted to do last night.

-โ€ข-โ€ข-โ€ข-

dating oikawa was like one of those relationship montages in rom-coms that make the viewer feel bad about being single.

it was waking up to a kiss or coffee and a post it note on the kitchen counter that had little hearts drawn on it.

it was countless tweets and articles about how he kept his girlfriend a secret but didn't stop her from leaving her mark on him.

it was getting through the day with occasional text but coming back home to him as if no time ever passed.

it was watching him play through a new lens, knowing that the smile he gave the audience was meant for her.

"don't gooo why are you abandoning me my loveee"

it was whining from oikawa because she was up early in the morning. earlier than him for maybe the first time she was here.

"i'll be back soon, baby", she pecked his cheek a few times, giggling, "or i'll stop by practice, maybe. okay?"

akamine was leaving argentina today and she'd promised to drop her off at the airport.

"stop watching me", y/n looked over her shoulder as she got dressed because his gaze was fixated on her, full of awe.

"stop being beautiful"

"impossible", she flipped her hair as she got up to face him.

"exactly, impossible", he blew her a kiss. she visibly cringed, tying her hair up.

a few minutes later, she was ready to go.

"don't crash my car!", oikawa called as she walked out of the room.

"go back to sleep"

"i love you"

"bye tooru"

"my life has lost all meaning-"

"god, i love you too"

"thank you"

akamine and her had definitely become very close friends and y/n wouldn't have had as good of a time as she did if not for her.

"do you have everything?", she questioned, glancing inside the now empty college dorm, "did you check the bathroom?"

"yes mOm", akamine groaned, smiling at the girl as she looked around, "let's leave"

it was quite a task to haul two huge bags into the trunk. they barely managed.

the sun had barely come up. the odd hour flight was far more economical so it was chosen accordingly. the air was actually cool.

the drive was great. music was playing and the windows rolled down.

they arrived at the airport. bags were hauled back out with great difficulty.

akamine hugged her tight and the both of them laughed.

"meet me when you're back in tokyo, okay?", she insisted

"definitely"

"and remember, if the oikawa thing doesn't work out-"

"you're number one in my books anyway", y/n snorted, pulling away.

"as i should be"

she leaned back against the car, watching akamine go in, a little bit tired because she was not a morning person and she wanted to go back and sleep.

actually, she wanted to cuddle with her boyfriend because she was needy as fuck but he was probably already on his way out of the house.

she cursed under her breath, standing back straight before she could feel her eyes droop.

and the universe apparently had just the thing to wake her up.

"is that y/n i see?", the voice caused her to narrow her eyes at the source and then widen them to twice their size.

walking towards her was an older woman with light brown hair that fell over her shoulders in waves. her clothes were expensive and there were shades covering her eyes but it was impossible for y/n not to recognise her.

"it is y/n, isn't it?", the woman continued, steps getting more hurried. her suitcase struggled to keep up with her and so did y/n.

"auntie?!?!"
