The day was as usual sunny and bright like a blooming flower in a serene garden but it couldn't be said the same for Dipanshi. Last night was hell for her innocent soul who got shock after shock of her life. The last month was a bliss in her life. She got every single thing which she didn't even think of. Dev and Mamta adored her to the end of their lives. Since the vacations started, Dipanshi and her family enjoyed it a lot. But there was something they were hiding from her.

They went on a picnic and were returning from it when their car was crashed by a truck. In a snap, everything fell apart. For half an hour no help reached there. But somehow Dipanshi was safe with just a few cuts and wounds. There is a famous proverb in Indian Culture 'Jako Rakhe Saaiyan Maar Sake Na Koi'. That's what happened to her. With her parents and God's blessings, she got only a few cuts and wounds. The impact of the crash was on the front part of the car which resulted in the severe injuries on both her parents.

When the truck crashed into their car, Dev tried to turn the car on the other side and eventually they crashed into a tree along the road. After half an hour, Dipanshi gained consciousness and looked around. Her limps weren't working, her vision was blurred due to the tears in her eyes, looking at her parents in the front. She somehow came out and dragged both of her parents out of the car.

She took out their luggage from the car and called the ambulance immediately. There was no one on the road. After another hour, finally the ambulance came and they reached the nearest hospital. In the meantime, she took her mother's cotton saree and tore it in fragments and bound it around their injuries. Mamta's legs were stuck in the front part which resulted in the wound on her knees. Dev got his head hit on the steering so there was heavy flow of blood from his forehead. Dipanshi pressed on both of their injuries in order to stop the bleeding. And she was somewhat successful in that. But their injuries were severe and they were referred immediately to the City Hospital which took another one and a half hours to travel.

She was in auto-mobile mode. She didn't know when they reached the hospital and when they were refered to the City Hospital. It was when the nurse came with a form to her, she got aware of her surroundings. With her hands trembling, she reached out for the form and looked at it with blurred eyes.

She didn't know what to do and what not to do. Just some hours ago, they were binging on a music spree and now she was standing here in the middle of the hospital with a form in her hands. As God wasn't able to see her like this, Dev's phone rang. She dug into the bag haphazardly and took it out. She swiped up and pressed the smartphone on her right ear.

Whatever the person saying on the other side was just going above her head. For that moment, anything that mattered was just her parents who were in the operation theatre.

"Hello...... Hello......." The person on the other side paused and then again said, "Dev...."

"Woh......."

"Deepu?"

"...... *Hiccup* .... "

"Deepu..... What happened? Where is Dev?"

Before she could form a sentence or a word, the nurse came again for the form. It's her day-to-day scenario to see a person in immobile state seeing their loved ones in the operation theatre. Nonetheless she gestured to her mobile phone. Dipanshi, who was just standing without uttering a word, gave her father's mobile phone to the nurse. The nurse took the phone and moved a little far from there and briefly described the situation as much as she knew.

The person on the other hand was his bestfriend, Raghav Mishra. He was luckily in the same city. He informed his son who had left for the university before the time so that he could meet his friend before going to the college. Raghav reached the hospital with her wife as soon as possible. Raghav already instructed the nurse to wait for them. Once they reached there, he would take the matter in his hand.

He parked his car and reached where Dipanshi was standing. Looking at her, he could tell what would have happened to her. What was she feeling? And her injuries weren't doing any good to her already deteriorated state. Aditi engulfed Dipanshi in her motherly hug and caressed her head assuringly. Dipanshi who was till now in a daze, feeling the motherly warmth, burst into tears. She hugged her as tight as she could in her injurious state.

Raghav talked to the nurse and the doctors, getting all the information about their state. Hearing all of it, it wasn't pleasant to hear. He completed the formalities and forced Dipanshi to take the medications for her own injuries.

Soon, Rishi reached there and wasn't able to believe his eyes. The girl who was always ready to retort and fight against anyone even if he/she was her senior or professor, who always came to the class with a smile which could make anyone's day bright, was sitting lifelessly, staring at the room without blinking her eyes. He wondered, once a fierce, cheerful and full of life girl would be like this.

Earlier when his parents told him that they saw a girl and would like to make her their daughter-in-law and they were going to ask her parents about her marriage to him. They also asked him about his consent. And he being the mama-boy said yes without even looking at the face of her would-be wife. But in the deepest corner of his heart, he expected that girl to be like Dipanshi.

But now when his deepest and unspoken wish came true, he blamed himself why he wished something like that. He moved from there and stood behind the corner of the alley and rubbed the corner of his eyes which were unknowingly filled with moisture. He wasn't able to see her like this. He didn't know what he felt for her but it was sure that this wasn't out of pity.

After some time, he came and stood beside her and put his hand on her head. He then retreated his hand, didn't know why he put the hand in the first place and looked at his mother who just came with two cups of tea. She said, "Kittu!! Come, come. Raghav ji is with the doctor. Go there."

He nodded and left to find his father. Listening to Aditi's voice she looked at her and then the retreating figure which resembled her arrogant Math's professor. She looked away, it didn't matter to her if he resembled her professor or not, mattered what her parents were in the ICU.

Reaching the doctor's cabin, He entered and sat beside his father and listened to whatever the doctor was explaining.

Aditi caressed her head, who was looking at the door and asked, "Deepu.... Don't worry! They will be fine."

"Really?", She asked unsured.

"Really." Aditi with a small smile confirmed her confusion.

Giving the cup of tea to her she said, "Come... Take it.. You haven't eaten anything."

She took the cup of tea with her shaking hands. The warm cup in her hand warmed her cold hands a little, she moved it to her lips and took a sip slowly. They sat silently there and then Dipanshi asked, "Aunty... I don't know what to do... I tried to call Chachaji but they didn't pick up any of my calls."

Aditi took the empty cup from her and put it in her empty cup. She said, "Now, we are here, no.. Everything will be fine." Putting the cups under the bench where they were sitting, she asked again, "What about your injuries... Are you okay."

"Hmm..." She nodded, "Aunty?"

As if she could hear her mind, Aditi replied, "The Police are going to come any second. Are you comfortable? Able to talk about it?"

Dipanshi wasn't able to decipher how she was going to handle it. She took the hold of the corner of Aditi's saree and requested, "Stay with me."

Taking her hand in her both hands, Aditi replied, "Don't worry"

Police came when Rishi and Raghav came back from the doctor's cabin. The female constable asked who was the one in the car with the injured ones. Dipanshi came forward and meekily said that she was with them.

Soon, they came to a remote place in the hospital and asked Dipanshi about the accident. She started explaining everything. When they were returning from their picnic a truck came and crashed into them. Dev tried to dodge it and in order to do it his car crashed into the tree nearby. She was unconscious for some time so she didn't know what happened at that span of time. When she gained consciousness, she brought them out and called the ambulance. Police asked her whether she saw the number plate or not. She replied that she didn't know about it.

Writing down as much as information she could give them, Police left from there to investigate at the scene of the accident.

After the operations, Dev and Mamta were in the observations, so the doctor told the others to wait for some hours. Then, they would be able to see them. Aditi and Raghav forced Dipanshi to go home and change, till then Raghav was there for her parents. After a lot of convincing, Dipanshi agreed.

Aditi, Rishi and Dipanshi left in Rishi's car. First they went to Dipanshi's house and took her clothes and then they went to Rishi's house. His house is a two storey independent house with a 8-foot wide garden in the front. It had a balcony with a single macrome swing and an open terrace above. It was a peach coloured building with a wooden gate surrounded with one and a half foot glasses. Rishi took the keys from Aditi and opened the gate.

Dipanshi looked around. It was unlike the character of the Professor which he portrayed in the college. The house looked lively unlike the arrogant and very less emotional face of her professor.

"There is a bedroom here. Go and freshen up till then, I prepared lunch." instructed Aditi and left her in the living room and went to the kitchen. It was a half open kitchen. There wasn't any gate for the kitchen but had a wall which separated the persons in the kitchen and in the hall. It was like an open kitchen as well as giving privacy to the person too.

Dipanshi was about to lock the bathroom gate when a knock was heard. She went outside, thinking Aditi would be there to ask her something. But much to her dismay, Rishi was standing, shifting from one leg to another. As she opened the door, Rishi looked at her and opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it. After a pause, he said unsurely, "Umm..... Actually there aren't any necessities in the bathroom... So... these......"

She took the soap, shampoo, shower gel and loofah from him and replied, "Thank You"

He nodded and turned to go but he again turned and said, "One second!! If you need anything you can call me.... Aa.a.. Not exactly me.... You can tell Maa .... Just.. Just don't hesitate."

She nodded and closed the door. He looked at his hand that was shivering a little. He again looked at the door and thought, 'What were you, Dipanshi? Now I even wasn't able to talk to you straight. Urghh..... What was happening to me.' He was nervous as the girl who was in front of him was soon going to be his wife, he was also sad as the girl in front of him had just experienced so much.

When his father told him that the girl was his bestfriend's daughter, he didn't know that that very bestfriend of his father was Dipanshi's father. He once talked to him too and that time he wasn't nervous like this. One day, in a teasing manner, he asked his mother, putting his head in her lap who was peeling the peas, "Atleast, let me look at her. You both hide her like I will reject her."

She stopped and looked at her son and said, "Kittu Ji.... I am afraid, if she sees you, she will be the one who would cancel this marriage. Besides, she didn't know about it. They just talked about it with us only. And we didn't want any rush..... Right Kittu?"

He thought about something and said, "Right... Right... I don't even want to tie up this soon. I am happy being a bachelor."

Her eyes lighted up amusingly and she asked, "Really?"

As if he was assuring himself, he nodded while replying, "Really."

She again started peeling the peas and said casually, "Okay. They didn't even want to get her married this soon. What about 15 years later? Huh"

His eyes opened like soccer and he thought, '15 years, if I told her what was in my mind, then she would really cancel the marriage. Why do I have to ask her in the first place? If I have the right to decide the date of my marriage I would definitely marry her today.'

He gulped and looked up at her mother and asked her meekly, "Maa.... Don't you think 15 years is such a loooooooonnnnng time."

She left the half peeled pea and twisted his ear and exclaimed, "Haan... Long time..... Kittuuuu"

Before he could say to defend himself, Raghav came inside and asked, "What happened?"

Aditi was going to tell her husband about their son's amazing thoughts but Rishi took out his phone and held it against his ear as if he got a call and acted, "Aa... Hello.... Haan Hello Annu... Haan Haan, I am coming." He put his phone on his shoulder and said, "Papa, Annu wants to meet me. I will come back in the evening." He didn't even let his parents say anything and went outside saying, "Okay.. Bye"

Aditi burst into a fit of laughter and said, "Pagal!!"
