While scratching his neck, Rishi looked at her furious wife who was fuming in anger. He looked at her and tried to speak but everytime he said something, Dipanshi just hummed or answered in a single syllable, which didn't fit best to him.

Dipanshi was copying the notes of the classes she wasn't able to attend. Rishi looked around to think about something. He had to find a way to clear this matter otherwise before he was able to make her fall in love with him, she would have left him for good.

Dipanshi was getting irritated by his presence. Why couldn't he mind his own business? It's not like they were a lovable couple so they had to clear everything. He always behaved arrogantly with her, then why he was so bothered to talk to her. She wasn't going to complain about him to her mother-in-law.

He got an idea, he looked at her and asked, "A... Dipu, chalo, tahalne chalte hain. It's good for health."

She didn't reply to him back and continued to do her work. He stood behind her chair and again tried, "Dipu !!"

Frustratingly, she put down her pen, packed her things and stood up to accompany him. He made way for her and then followed her.

While moving sideways, both of them were looking ahead. He was recalling the scene of his first day in the college and how Dipanshi created a caricature of him and instead of just giving her a warning, he suspended her from his class for three days straight. He remembered her expressions exactly. She looked at him with shock in her eyes. She even tried to explain to him, but he didn't listen to her and directly suspended her from his classes.

He thought of her that she was just one of those mischievous students who liked to prank with their teachers and since he was the youngest professor of that college, so these students think of him as easy-going but he was the exact opposite. He was just 22 years old at that time and he joined the college as an assistant professor, but as the previous professor died unexpectedly in a car accident, he had to take up the post of professor. But after a year he officially joined as the Mathematics professor of the college.

With a faint smile on his face, he said, "You hate me from the first day, right?"

Dipanshi, who was moving with a scowl on her face, jerked suddenly as she listened to her previous professor talking. She was cursing him in her heart since they returned from the restaurant. Without looking at him, she continued her ambling.

He sidelooked at her and chuckled lightly. He said, "It's hate at first sight, right?"

She wanted to say so much but she remained silent. This was her way of dealing with the problems. She knew if she said something, then there would be a war going to happen. In these starting days of their marriage, Rishi knew one thing about his wife perfectly that whenever she was upset or frustrated, she chose to remain silent than an unnecessary argument and he hated it from the bottom of his heart. Without putting forward your point of view how the other person was going to understand your point of view.

He stopped in front of their home and turned toward her and said, "Will you listen to me this time?"

She looked into his eyes and saw an emotion which made her obey him. She looked at him without saying anything like she was just lost in them. She never in her dreams thought that one day was going to get lost in his chocolate brown eyes, which the world talked about. A sudden sound of utensils from their neighbourhood broke her trance and she looked away. She turned around and went inside their house and sat on the sofa.

He took the seat beside her and said, "On my first day, I was nervous. I know, you won't believe me but I really was." He chuckled and said, "As you got to know that I am just 25. So at that time, I was only 22 years old at that time, and that was the first day of my job. I knew how much length a student could go to be mischievous at a time. And I was trying myself to adjust to this."

He looked at her and continued, "Your class was the first one. And then, you knew I was way more mischievous than you. And then, you created that cartoon. The nervousness, anxiety, fear of failing, all ventured up and I ended up scolding you."

She looked at him accusingly and replied, "You didn't end up scolding me. YOU suspended me for 3 days from your class." He was going to say something but before that Dipanshi said, "I am one of those students who respected their teachers equal to their parents. I never in my life got the scolding let alone suspension."

He tried to tell his side of the story but Dipanshi stopped him and said, "Let me finish, Mishra Sir! I was never one of those who disrespect their teachers just for fun. You never let me explain my side of the story. You just made up your mind that Dipanshi was the one who created such an absurd cartoon and suspended me. Did you ever let me explain it?"

"Dipu....."

"Did You Ever?" She took a deep breath and said, "Now when you thought that you were wrong so you came and explained why you did this? But you thought that .... that 'was I really the one who pulled that prank?' I tried to say... I tried to explain that I didn't do that but you never listen to me. You never did. You know, how it felt when the student who had never ever talked behind their teachers, would feel when he got the punishment for the crime which he never committed."

She looked sideways and said, "I was not the one who made that picture. I was standing there to erase that. You were so hiped up that you didn't notice the duster in my hand. When you entered the class I just picked the duster and was going to clear that picture. But what you did, you....."

She didn't complete her sentence and left from there leaving the shocked Rishi. He never thought that she was not the one who pulled that prank. How could he do such a thing to her? With time, he got to know that Dipanshi was a very sincere student and that was why he started liking her and his respect for her increased. But he never thought that she was there to help him. So that no one in the class would have the time to mock her but in return what she got, suspension.

If he knew that she was innocent then he would never reprimand her. In fact, he would do everything to help her with her studies. He rubbed his hands on his face and sighed frustratingly. He was in a very deep shit. Of all the students, why did he have to punish her on his first day, just Why? Tiredly he stood up from the sofa and slowly made his way to his room, which was now hers too.

He opened the door slowly so that it didn't create any screeching sound. He looked at the bed but the bed was empty. He didn't know where Dipanshi went. He was sure that he saw her coming towards their room but she wasn't there. He came inside and was going to go back to search for her. But stopped midway when he saw her in front of him.

There she was sleeping on the floor. She placed some cotton mattresses on the floor and pillow and was sleeping on it. He hurriedly came towards her and sat down beside her on his toes and lightly tapped her shoulder. He called her but she closed her eyes more tightly. He knew very well that she wasn't sleeping, so he said, "Dipanshi, I didn't know that.... If I had known , I would have never done that."

"But you did and I faced humiliation for the first time."

It wasn't easy for her to forget that day. For the very first time she was rebuked severely by any teacher. Small arguments were another term but that day, she faced the real punishment. Every student from her class was making fun of her. She was just 17 years old teenager and he was practically an adult and saw all of his college life but she had just started living her college life.

He could never know what she felt at that time. It was also new to him. He also didn't know how to handle teenagers but he was confident in one aspect, Mathematics. Till that time, he loved Mathematics and was confident in it too. But he couldn't know how to handle his anger. All the jumbled emotions came out as his anger on that day, on any other day. And much to his surprise most of the time the victim of his anger was Dipanshi.

Realizing his mistake, he couldn't help but utter, "I know I was wrong but you are not sleeping here. Sleep on the bed."

Whatever he was in college, he would never in his dreams let her sleep on the floor when there was a bed in their house. He couldn't let her sleep on the floor where she could have gotten a backache.

"As you say, this is not a college and don't expect me to follow your order."

"If you don't want to be with me on the same bed then be it. I will go to the guest room. But please sleep on the bed." Rishi picked the pillow from his side and went to the guest room where once she stayed, leaving her with her own thoughts. Sleep was far away from both of them. They were wide awake till exhaustion took a toll on them.

Rishi saw her coming downstairs. When both of their eyes matched, both of them looked away immediately. He, due to guilt and she in anger. They had breakfast in a painful silence. When she stood up to put her used utensils in the kitchen sink, his eyes remained fixed on her the entire time. It's not like she wasn't aware of it. Subconsciously, she knew that he was observing her every move.

During the recess, he called his mother-in-law for some selfish motives. First, he asked them about their progress and well-being, then he said, "Could you tell me what she likes?"

"Kyu? Kya hua?"

"Nahi bas aise hi puchh raha tha." He replied awkwardly. He didn't want to disclose whatever happened between them, never to his mother-in-law.

"She likes Capsicum a lot. You should try Shimla Mirch ki sabji, use pasand hai woh bahut."

He smiled lightly thinking about her reaction. He hopefully thought that she would like his little sorry gesture. Saying a good-bye to her, he cut the call. After the college as usual, he messeged her but this time got only a small 'Ok' as a reply.

When they reached home, Dipanshi immediately went to their room and stayed there for the entire evening. He too didn't disturb her and quickly came outside after changing. He worked some time then started preparing her favourite food for her.

She got a call from her mother in the evening but her mother didn't share the little secret she had with Dipanshi's husband. After cutting the call, she came downstairs, only to witness him with a bowl of dish in one hand and plates in another. He was setting the table for their dinner. He looked downwards and continued his work.

'Why does he have to look innocent after practically making my college life hell?' She muttered under her breath and opened the refrigerator to pick out the water bottle for them.

He sat on the chair and looked desperately at her, wanting to see her reaction. Was his little effort worth it or would it take more genuine effort from him? These were the thoughts roaming in his mind continuously for the whole minute.

She opened the lid of the casserole. She was perplexed at the dish he prepared today. She glanced at him briefly and served herself. When it was the turn for chapatis, she was surprised more as the chapatis were normal but also not normal. He somehow pressed the particular areas so that there was 'Sorry' written in the middle of each chapati.

Without batting an eyelid, Dipanshi completed her dinner and left for the kitchen. This time he was just looking at the place where she sat before and muttered under his breath, "Rishi beta, tune is baar had paar kar di hai, toh ab maafi mangne ke liye bhi had paar hi karni hogi, warna It won't be good for you."

When he entered the kitchen, it was already cleaned and utensils were washed by Dipanshi. Even though she didn't know how to cook, she always helped her mother in the kitchen so she knew every other kitchen job except cooking. Well she knew how to make Maggi, it couldn't be counted in cooking.

After packing up, he waited for her in his car in the parking lot of the college. He didn't message her. Dipanshi came and opened the door to sit down but before the seat was already occupied. There was a beautiful White Rose sitting at her seat. She wanted to smile but recalling why there was a rose in the first place, she just picked it and put it on the dashboard without batting an eyelid. Rishi who was eagerly watching her, dropped his shoulders and with a solemn heart started their journey back to their home.

Dipanshi was engrossed in her mobile phone when she lifted her head to look ahead. She immediately looked to her side window and found the change of scenerio. It wasn't the way to their house. Her lips opened to ask him but she didn't utter a word. 'Where was he taking her?' was the last thought in her mind.
