I stepped carefully on the stained,
worn- out carpeted floor
i let my hands glide from one spine to the other
the air a mix of booky- smell and silence
my finger trailing over the shelves;
shelves and shelves of books
my step was then ceased by a body
laying on the floor
legs swinging to and fro
a book resting carefully on his fingers
his lip bitten and rosy pink;
blood threatening to seep through;
but his eyes didn't care,
gliding from line to line
word to word, until they pulled away
from the wonders of the book
color returning to the hazy glance
Focusing on my face
my gaze, staring into his.
i colored and looked away,
picking up a book
and resting my waist against the shelves;
pretending to read.
he wasn't looking at me anymore
his gaze lazily sliding on each word.
while mine was on him, from behind my book.
"c'est un beau livre"
jumping in fright, i dropped the book to my feet.
fixing his orbs into mine, he spoke again.
"the book, i mean. it's beautiful"
~
there was something about him;
the way he propped himself on one elbow;
looking at me;
a cheeky smile on his face.
the way his hair fell lightly onto his forehead,
the way his body moved;
when he picked my book up;
sweeping it into my arms again.
"toi aussi"
he whispered against my ear,
then backing away, placing his book back on the shelf
and walking away from me-
not once looking back;
leaving me with a sudden lingering feeling
a strange feeling.
i looked down at the book in my hands.
"Her Galactic Love" it read.
i leaned slowly against the shelves,
closing my eyes.
Struggling to get his eyes out of my head
those cloudy grey orbs, resting into my dull green ones.
there was definitely something about him
that told me
that those grey orbs would meet my green again.
