This happened when the two first met. Su-mi entered the bighit building. She was getting ready to start training for her debut. She had not yet met any of the members of the group that she would be debuting with.

Su-mi was in a dance studio working on some choreography when a boy stopped by to watch her. Su-mi had not noticed him until he clapped for her after she finished a routine. Su-mi looked him up and down thinking that he was really hot.

What Su-Mi didn't know was that she actually said that aloud. "Um thank you, I'm Jin..." Jin had no idea to respond to her saying that he was hot. "I'm Su-mi, what are you saying 'thank you' for?"
"Well, you just told me that I was hot." Jin replied. Su-mi turned bright red. 

This later became a story that Jin would tell their interviewers and fans whenever people asked about how they met.

2.

Jin awoke to the sound of crying. It was the middle of the night and Jin was wondering where the sound was coming from. He got out of bed and followed the noise to Su-mi's room.
"Su? Are you ok?" He said as he entered her room and sat on her bed.
In reality, Su-mi wasn't ok, she had just had dream about her dead parents.
Su-mi spilled everything about her parents to Jin, who just sat there listening to her words.
Su-mi told him about the plane crash that killed her parents when she was 8. She also told him about how much she missed them.
That night Jin stayed with Su-Mi and comforted her until she fell asleep.
