Everyone was preparing for the war. They had a plan to end this once and for all, and they were sure it would work. It involved smoke bombs, riot gear, and luring Woodbury in by making them think they left. While the adults prepared their weapons and set up the bombs, Carl, Elle, Sky, and Cody packed everyone's stuff up. They lugged the bags outside and into the trunk of the green Hyundai. Carl was upset that his father wouldn't let him stay and help fight, but Rick knew what was best and stood by his decision.

Carl's P.O.V.

I practically threw the bag in the car before storming back inside. My dad doesn't think I'm old enough to stay and fight? Well that's bullshit. I watched as Elle helped Sky put a heavy crate in the car as well. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Cody, one of Elle's older brothers.

"We should talk," He started with a smirk. The boy lead me over to the tables where nobody was. "I've seen the way you look at my sister. We all have." My face turned a little red. "I don't have a problem with it, Jack either. Just don't do anything stupid, she does hold a grudge. She's probably still pissed at our parents, and their dead!" He joked. I let out a small laugh, knowing that was probably true. "Seriously though, just don't give her a reason to be pissed and you'll be fine." He said walking away. I will remember that, I just don't know if Elle feels the same way about me that I do her. But I'm not gonna ask, that's embarrassing.

We had finished loading the car and everyone hugged their loved ones. I hugged my dad even though I was still mad that he wouldn't let me fight, but Glenn and Jack told Elle she has to come in the woods with us as well. Hershel got in the driver's seat, Beth holding Judith in the passenger seat, me Elle and Sky in the back. We started driving down the hill, Carol and Maggie opening the gate for us.

_______________

We covered the car in dead leaves and shrubs to make it look like a bush from a distance. Judith was sleeping so Beth stayed in the car to assure she stayed that way, while the rest of us were keeping watch.

It was quiet for a few minutes, but then we heard the rumbling of Woodburys' loud vehicles. "It's happening." Sky muttered.

"We'll be just fine," Elle said. She turned to me "All of us." I nodded in agreement. As much as I wanted to be back there, fighting, I knew they would be okay. My concern was gaurding our stuff. We could hear the faint explosions of the gas cans, the shouting from the soldiers of Woodbury, the gun fire Glenn and Maggie opened on them. We were going to win this. We listened to the faint ruckus for a few minutes before the familiar rumbling of the trucks grew further and further away. We all exchanged smiles knowing we had just won. Sky got in the car first, leaving the door open for me and Elle. Elle was about to climb in when there was a rustling noise.

"Those aren't walker's footsteps." She announced. Sure enough, she was right. Two boys stood before us. One our age with dark hair, the other more around Beth's age, with a beanie on.

"Put the guns down boys." Hershel told them. They nodded, afraid as Elle and I had our guns pointed at them. They held out their guns and Elle reached for them. Without thinking thoroughly, I pulled the trigger on the older boy. His body fell limp to the ground. Elle looked back at me like I was crazy.

"Carl, what the hell?" She asked. I didn't care though. I aimed my gun at the other boy, but she stood in front of him, blocking him. Why? "Carl, don't do it. They're giving up their guns," She paused. "Well, only he is now." I rolled my eyes and dropped my gun and picked up the boys. Elle grabbed the living boys gun, tossing it to Hershel before twisting his arms, behind his back. The boy let out a groan of pain. "Good." She said before zip tying his hands.

She pushed him into the car and got in herself. I got in last and closed the door as Hershel started the car. As we made our way back, Elle refused to look at me. She doesn't understand what I did. Yeah, the kid was handing his gun over, but if I tell my dad he was going to pull the trigger, he would think I did the right thing.

Third Person

The car ride up to the prison was quiet, there was so much tension. As the screeching of the metal gates sounded, they knew they had arrived back home. Hershel and Beth hugged Maggie, relieved she was okay. Everyone else got out of the car except Elle and her new 'friend'.

"Alright, let's go." She said, shoving him out of the car. Rick was the first to see, and he wasn't too happy.

"Who the hell is this and why is he here?" Rick asked.

"This is.." Elle trailed off waiting for the boy to say his name.

"Ryder"

"This is Ryder, and he's here because your son shot Ryder's friend for no reason." Elle explained with a sarcastic smile.

"I had a reason." Carl argued.

"The kid was handing over the gun, Carl! His finger was nowhere near the trigger!" She yelled. Carl opened his mouth to make an argument, but before he could say anything, she stormed off, dragging Ryder behind her.

She stormed inside the prison and brought him into the nearest cell, locking him up. "Thank you." Ryder spoke.

"For what?"

"Not killing me."

"Yeah whatever. Anytime." She stormed away, the keys jangling at her side. She stormed back over to where Carl, Rick, and Hershel were arguing. Hershel was trying to explain what really happened, while Carl was telling Rick what he wanted to hear.

"He was handing over his gun, they both were. Fingers off the trigger." Elle stepped in.

"Maybe that's what you thought you saw." Rick tried. Elle shook her said.

"Rick, I know what I saw. And what I saw, was two scared boys who were handing over their guns. He shot one of them and he was going to shoot the other if I hadn't stepped in." She argued, standing her ground. Rick sent Carl out of the room so he could talk to the two witnesses.

"We know what you want to hear, but that's not what happened." Hershel said. Rick looked down, accepting that one of his worst fears had come true; Carl had become cold. Rick agreed to talk to Carl about what actually happened another time, because right now, they're gonna finish off Woodbury.

They started loading guns into the trunk of Hershel's car. "Not even gonna ask if you can come with?" Glenn joked.

"Because I know the answer," she rolled her eyes playfully. "Who is going though?" She asked.

"Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Jack, me, and Maggie." He counted. Elle did some quick counting in her head as well.

"There's one seat left in the second car?" She raised an eyebrow. Glenn shook his head. "Please, Glenn! You know how good I am with a gun, I could help! I won't get shot! I didn't last time!" She pleaded. Jack came around the car to see the two.

"Woah, last time?" He asked.

"Yeah, I kinda helped shoot up the place when they found me, Glenn, and Maggie." She mumbled. Then she thought back to that night for a split second. "Wait, did you not see the huge semi automatic I was holding?" She asked like he was stupid. He shook his head.

"I had found out my little sister was alive. The gun wasn't exactly my focus point." He chuckled. "Plus, who's gonna keep an eye on that kid in there?" Jack asked, meaning Ryder, Elle's new 'captive'. She held up the keys and shook them, signaling that he isn't getting out unless she lets him. Jack just looked at her, like he was actually considering it. She gave him a puppy look with her dark blue eyes. "Fine."

"YES! IT ALWAYS WORKS!" She exclaimed.

"On two conditions; one, stop making that face. Two, you do exactly as you are told." He said with a serious tone. She nodded. Everyone started getting into their cars, and Elle hopped in the back seat of the car Glenn was driving. Maggie sat in the passenger seat, and Jack sat next to Elle. The gates opened, and they were off to finish what they started.

"What the hell?" Maggie muttered. The two in the back looked through the windshield to see the Governor's trucks sitting on the side of the road. The cars stopped and everyone came out with their weapons ready, on high alert. Dead bodies littered the field. They were all shot. The Governor shot his own people. He killed them. Why would someone do that? These people had families, and he just killed them.

Elle stood by one of the huge trucks and just looked around at the mess. Blood, dirt, weapons. It was all over. Elle was startled when a woman threw herself against the glass window of the truck. She had her hands up in surrender.

"Come on out." Daryl told her. She opened the door and stepped down from the truck and put her hands back in the air as Rick did a quick pat down.

"What happened here?" He interrogated.

"He went crazy and killed them all." She answered. Rick shared a look with Daryl. It's like they communicate without actually speaking. No words are coming out of their mouths, but they're conversating.

Then, everyone started getting into their vehicles, the woman going with Rick's group.

_____________

After almost an hour of driving, they parked the cars out of sight so they could go through the woods the rest of the way. They all got out of their cars, weapons in hand.

The walk through the woods was quiet. The only noise to be heard were the footsteps of the group. "Walk heel to toe." Elle said quietly to the group.

"What?" Michonne asked.

"Walk heel to toe." Elle repeated. The group had stopped walking as she said that. Michonne, trying out the girl's advice, realized she was right. Her footsteps were much quieter. She nodded to the rest of the group, telling them to do the same. The group started walking once again, but obviously quieter than before. They weaved their way around the trees and shrubs until they came across the tall walls outside the guarded community. There was only one person on guard, a tall, dark man. The woman stood up with her hands in the air.

"Tyreese, it's me." She said. Rick pulled her down.

"Karen? Are you okay? Where are the others?" The man, Tyreese, asked. She answered, telling him about what had happened in the road.

After a short discussion, Tyreese let the small group in. They learned that the only people who were here were the old, kids, and parents. One question ran through Elle's mind. Where was Andrea?

"Tyreese, right?" Elle asked. The man nodded. "Where's Andrea?" She asked. He gave her a confused look, as the rest of the group wondered the same thing.

"She left to go to the prison, did she not make it there?" He asked. Everyone shook their heads.

"She's not dead." Elle said.

"How do you know that?" Jack asked.

"I just do. And if I'm right, I know where she is." Elle said as she starting running to where the Governor kept her and the newly weds. Rick yelled after her, but she ignored him and kept running. She pushed open the big metal door, it made that familiar screeching sound with the group following. She turned the corner to see another door. There was a pool of blood on the ground.

"Andrea." Michonne said, running past the girl. She slowly opened the door, to show a walker on the ground. But there were feet laying beside the door. Elle ran in next to see the feet belonged to Andrea herself.

She gave a small smile, but noticed the woman was sweating a lot. She wasn't wearing thick layers though. Michonne pressed her hand to Andrea's forehead. "You're burning up." She observed. Everyone watched as Andrea raised her arm and pulled back her shirt to reveal a bite mark. Michonne started tearing up. She spent an entire winter with Andrea, treated her when she was sick, protected her. Now she's gone.

"I tried." Andrea said, with a small smile on her face. Michonne only nodded. Andrea fought as hard as she could, and it was obvious to everyone in the room. Andrea was always a fighter. Before the world ended, she was going to be a lawyer, fighting for what's right. Then the world came to an end and she lost the most important person her life, Amy. She was sick during the winter, but fought it off. Today, Andrea lost the fight. But she decided she should be the one to end it. "I know how the safety works." She said, giving Rick a sad smile. Rick nodded, remembering hearing her say those words when Amy died.

Everyone left the room, not being able to be in there. Michonne stayed with her though, holding her hand. The group sat outside the door, waiting for the silenced gunshot that would end Andrea's suffering. It was quiet, the only thing anyone could hear was their own breathing. Until the sound of a small thud echoed. Michonne came out of the room, crying and holding the gun that Andrea used. Elle ran her fingers through her hair, getting the tangles out of her curls. Andrea was dead.

The gates to the prison opened, letting the cars and bus pull in. The bus was full of Woodbury's people, ready to live in the building. Elle hopped out of the car as people from the bus greeted her and thanked her for the hospitality. She just smiled and waved as she quickly made her way to Cell Block C. She pulled out the keys as she approached Ryder's cell. "You have a family?" She asked. He shook his head.

"Mom died in the beginning, Dad died before the start." He said. "Why?" He asked, his brown eyes meeting her blue ones.

"Congrats. You live here now." She said with a smirk.

"Wait, seriously?"

"Yeah, your Governor shot everyone after they fled. So, when we went to Woodbury to finish it, we ended up bringing everyone back with us. If you have friends, go say 'hi.' I think they'd be happy to know you're alive." She said with a geniune smile. He gave her a smile.

"Thank you, again. So is this like my cell now, not just where I'm being held captive by a girl my age?" He chuckled. Elle nodded.

"Yes. Now go." She watched as the dark haired boy ran outside. Something new has started. More people, more recourses, they were starting a new life.

________

"One rule, dude." Cody said, walking up to Carl. "One rule."

"I did what had to be done." Carl said quietly.

"No, you did what you thought had to be done. Look what it cost you."
