"Maybe it'll pass by like the highway." Carol worried.

"Nah, a herd that big will blow the house down." Daryl said pushing me away from the window. Everyone started quickly packing their things. I ran up the stairs to grab my backpack. I yanked it off the bed when the small piece of wood I designed fell on the ground.

"ELLE! COME ON!" Glenn yelled. Everyone was ready to go, and Carol was reassuring Lori that Rick and Carl were safe and together. Hershel was trying to save his farm.

"Glenn, go! I'll get Hershel!" I yelled to him.

"Elle!" Glenn argued. I opened his hand and put the wood in it.

"I made it for you. Now go!" I yelled. He did as told and he and Maggie hopped in Hershel's car, shooting down walkers. Hershel was firing his gun. Walkers fell, but were quickly replaced. "Hershel! Come on!" I yelled.

"This is my farm!" Hershel argued.

"Not anymore! We have to go!" I said taking my axe out.

"Go! I'll be fine!" Hershel insisted.

"We both know that's not true!"

"God dammit, GO!" Hershel yelled. He never swears, so I knew he was 178% serious. I ran off the porch. The cars were all gone except one. I can hot wire, but I cant drive for shit. Everyone will go to the highway, right? We all know where it is, so that would be the place. I felt something grab my shoulder. I turned around to see a walker. I fell back and caught a glimpse of Rick, Carl, and Hershel getting in a car. Rick noticed me but started the car anyways. He thought I was dead. He thought the walker on top of me, was eating me. The walker was too close for me to use my axe, so I grabbed my knife. I took a deep breath as I held the walker back with one hand. I swung my left hand forward, stabbing the undead person in the eye, silencing it. I pushed it off of me and ran into the woods. The sun was rising by this point. I didn't stop running, I couldn't.

Glenn's P.O.V.

We all made it to the highway, most of us.
"Andrea?" Lori asked.

"I saw her go down after she saved me." Carol said.

"Elle?" I asked.

"We uh, we saw her go down." Rick said, his voice cracking a bit. No. That cant be true.

"Are you sure? We can go back." I insisted.

"Glenn," Maggie said grabbing my hands.

"She cant be, she cant be dead. She said she was going to get Hershel." I denied.

"I told her to save herself." Hershel piped up. "I knew she could do it. There were just too many."

I ran my fingers through my hair. I pulled the wood out of my pocket and ran my finger over the blue butterfly. I turned it over to read elle written in all lowercase letters. We decided we had to move away from the farm. TDog suggested we go east.

--------------------------

We were running low on gas, so we had stop on the side of the road. Rick said we would stay here for the night and continue in the morning.

Elle's P.O.V.

My feet pounding on the ground. It hurt. My body ached. I took a quick glance behind me and there were still walkers. So I kept running. Swerving, back and forth through the trees, cutting myself. Knowing the blood from my cuts wasn't going to help, I ran faster. My curls bouncing right below my shoulders, my ankles feeling like they're going to shatter at any second, my breath turning to fog the second it escapes my mouth.

I noticed I lost a few walkers but decided to keep going to lose the rest. Where was I even going? I would've made it to the highway by now, even if I did, the group probably left already. I should've gone with Glenn and Maggie. Rick came back for Hershel. I didn't see Shane. Was he dead? I looked up at the sky. Shaking the thoughts from my head, I kept running. I came across a tree that looked pretty simple to climb. I jumped as best as I could and pulled myself up, almost stumbling right off. My breathing was really heavy as I watched the few walkers start reaching up for me. I opened my back and found some rope I took when we were in Atlanta.

After tying the rope around the tree trunk and my waist, I leaned my back against the tree. The sky was beautiful. Frankly, I was freezing my ass off, but I was safe. So the only thing that could kill me at this point is hypothermia. The sun was completely risen. The light blue sky, geese migrating to the Midwest, squirrels storing for the winter. It's as if the animals don't know what's going on. They don't know that dead alive freaks want to eat them. Everyone has a predator now. Even people are predators to other people. Dead or not. I needed sleep. The normal time I would sleep was very rudely interrupted by a huge herd trying to kill me. I set my head back and let's my eyes close.

"Glenn? Rick? Carl? Anybody?!" My voice echoed. "Paul? Jack? Cody?"

"How's my girl doin?" A mans voice asked. I turned quickly to see my father.

"Dad?"

"That's me. Tell me, where is your mother?" He asked.

"I don't know." I growled. "I never do."

"That's no way to talk to your father. You must face the consequences." He said. I heard a snap before opening my eyes to see I was in a prison cell. I was still in my flannel and ripped jeans.

"Hello?" I called out. My voice bounced off the empty walls.

"It's your fault." A voice boomed. What was my fault? What did I do? As if reading my thoughts, the voice answered.
"You killed my son." The voice said, showing itself. Lori.

"I didn't do anything! I promise!" I cried.

"You're gonna be locked up for a long time. You're a criminal. You're a killer." Lori finished stepping backwards into the shadows. The word 'killer' echoing. I pushed the metal door and it slowly creaked. I walked through it and towards where Lori went. As I got closer, my footsteps echoed. Then, a click.
There was a circle of people around me. The group. I met eyes with Glenn, Rick, Maggie, Daryl, but they all looked like they hated me. I went for my knife, but it wasn't there. I looked up with worry in my eyes. I saw Beth and Carol step aside, revealing a body on the floor.      Carl. He had a bullet in his head. I let out a shakey gasp as I laid eyes on the boy.

"You're a killer, Elle. That's breaking the law, and I don't like when people break the law." Rick's voice announced. I looked at him. "Do you know what happens when you break the law?"

"You get arrested...?" I answered.

"No," Glenn said. I turned towards him. "You die." As if on cue, blood started running out of my throat. I felt myself getting weaker, my knees giving out. Finally, collapsing to the ground, Glenn stood over me, the last thing I saw was him swinging a machete at my head.

My body jolted awake. "It was just a dream," I thought to myself as I saw I was still tied to the tree. "It was just a dream."
