𝐗𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬|𝟏𝟗
𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:𝐊𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢'𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞

"Did you feed her?" Xiari asked picking her phone up off the counter. The white towel was secured around her body tightly, water droplets still evident on her since she'd just gotten out of the shower.

It was early in the morning and as soon as Xiari finished her morning shower she FaceTimed Yhukani to check up on Zureé and see how it was going.

Like he promised, he texted Mook every hour until he fell asleep filling her in on Azureè which calmed her worried nerves down alot.

Zureé had woken up almost immediately after Xiari had left and cried for a while wondering where her mom was at. However, after a good fifteen minutes Kani had managed to calm her down.

He talked with her to his best ability and gave her his phone since he knew she liked that too. He also held her which was probably the wrong thing to do because after he did that she didn't want him to put her down.

"Yeah I fed ha, I know what I'm doing." Yhukani turned the camera around to Zureé who was eating a small bowl of cereal and Xiari rolled her eyes.

"Cereal though?" She squinted her eyes and Yhukani turned the camera back around, laughing while shrugging his shoulders.

"That's what she wanted."

"That don't mean give it to her." She slightly chuckled shaking her head.

She wasn't too mad though, atleast he had gave her something.

"Ma baby gone get what she want." He waved her off kissing Zureé's cheek to which she smiled. Xiari couldn't help but smile too at the cute moment.

It was these times where she was actually letting her guard down and softening up a bit at the idea of welcoming Yhukani back openly into her life. She could tell he was gonna be a good father to their daughter.

"You gone spoil her too much."

Yhukani looked over at Zureé, "that's a bad thing?"

"Yeah cause when we leave ima have to be the one who deal wit ha lil attitude." Xiari playfully rolled her eyes now walking out of her bathroom. She then took a seat on the edge of her bed and rubbed the side of her neck, letting out a yawn.

"Speaking of leaving, how dis shit gone work Xiari?" He sighed, his face turning more seriously.

"I don't know K." Xiari shrugged honestly. "We can talk about it when I get there."

"Don't try to put it off no more either." He told seriously, knowing how petty she could get.

She looked into the camera staring at him. "I'm not, I'm foreal."

After that Xiari spent a couple more minutes talking to both Zureé and Yhukani on the phone. Eventually she hung up and said her goodbyes before getting up to get ready and pick up her daughter.

"Mommy." Azuree smiled running towards Xiari once she came in the door, her arms hugging around her mom's legs.

"Hey phats." Mook dragged bending down and picking her up.  She hiked her up on her waist and pulled down her dress she had on since it was lifting up before going into the living room.

"You was gone for a lil bit and I still missed you lil girl." Xiari laughed kissing Zureé's cheek as she sat down on the couch.

"Miss you too."

"You did." She dramatically pouted. "You had fun though?"

"Mhmm."Azuree nodded and looked over at her dad. She held her hands up for him and he grabbed her sitting her in his lap. Azuree laid her head on Yhukani's chest and yawned indicating she was tired.

She had fell asleep the same way last night and was comfortable so naturally she wanted to do it again.

"Umm?" Xiari tilted her head and Yhukani laughed.

"It hasn't even been 24 hours and you trading on me phats."

Azuree looked at her confusedly but shook her head. Xiari tried to reach her hand back out for her but Azuree just closed her eyes and pretended as if she didn't see.

"Leave ha alone." Yhukani pushed Xiari's hands away.

"I'm not messing with her boy, mind yours." She rolled her eyes looking away.

"You always getting smart."

"As I should be."

"Until I choke yo luh ass out."

Xiari pursed her lips together, staring at him. "Then we gone be fighting innis bitch."

He chuckled at her words and looked down at Azuree who was slowly falling asleep. She was up all this morning so it was around her nap time just about now anyways.

It was silence for a while after that and Xiari just sat there in deep thought. The two had so much to talk about she just didn't know where to even start.

Day by day it was getting less awkward between the two, she was starting to feel a bit more comfortable around him just like the old days.

Still, she wanted to keep her guard up when it came to him. The only thing they needed to engage with each other about was Azureè.

"K?" Xiari broke the silence. Yhukani looked up raising his eyebrow indicating that he was listening.

"Can I ask you sum?"

He nodded tiredly. "What?"

"Why you ain't question if she was yours? I mean I'm glad that you didn't cause I wouldn't do no shit like tryna pin a baby on you but it's just she looks more like me and I haven't seen you in three years so I'd understand why you'd think she wasn't yours." She rambled on alittle nervous.

Yhukani leaned back onto the couch."you said why I didn't."

Xiari looked at him a bit confused but nonethelesss waited for him to continue.

"I know I fucked up Mook. I was wrong imma admit that and whatchu did was wrong too but I been tryna see shit from your point of view so I'd be a lil less hard on you."

"Yeah it's been three years but I do know you wouldn't do no dirty shit like that, I trust you enough to that extent." He chuckled. "Plus i nutted in yo ass so many times that shit was bound to happen if we being foreal."

Xiari rolled her eyes at the mention of them two having sex, muttering under her breath and Yhukani caught it staring at her intensively.

"Whatchu say?" He slightly smirked.

"None of ya business." She said smartly, a small mug on her face from his stupid grin.

"Anyways about the leaving situation." She changed the subject since she could feel the tension slowly rising.

Yhukani's face fell more seriously, discouraged about how their conversation was gonna go.

"I go to N.C A&T and that's a lil over 2 hour flight. I can try to fly back one weekend each month but that's about it," Xiari sighed.

"That's only two days a month, that's too short Xiari." Yhukani immediately dissaproved and Xiari scrunched up her face.

"Well that's all I can do, I can't miss no classes every month just to fly down here." She explained.

" You gone have too, why the fuck you go to college alway out there knowing I don't live inna same city."

Xiari mugged him harshly. He wasn't making any sense to her. "Hmm I don't fucking know... Maybe because yo dumbass was in jail. I wasn't finna sit here and mope around waiting for you to be release. I got my own dreams to follow, sorry if you wasn't stopping em'."

"That ain't the point."

"Then what's the point K." She tilted her head. "I said I'll fly down here a weekend but if you wanna see YOUR daughter more then you gotta come and fly to see her the fuck. You ain't got shit else to do anyways other then illegal shit. And you need to get out that anyways cause ma baby ain't gonna be around that."

"Oh but ha mama can?" He raised his eyebrow.

"Ha mama left didn't she." She matched his energy and he stayed silent.

"I'm not making the same mistake twice Yhukani." She said lowly sighing.

He blew out a breath and pulled onto one of his dreads, confused and now annoyed at the moment.

She was right he was getting older, 21 now and he needed to have something better going on with his life now that he had a child. Far as seeing her more, she was right again. Azuree was his child so if he really wanted to see her like he claimed he did he would make the efforts to come and visit her.

"I ca suggest sum?" He asked her not in the mood to argue. Xiari nodded letting him know he could continue.

"When you bring her down that one weekend let her stay wimmie and Ima bring her back the next weekend." He spoke and Xiari slightly frowned.

Her daughter being away from her a for a whole week just didn't sit right with her.

"Ion know k—you gone have to compromise Xiari, i only got her for one week when you got her for three whats the issue?" He asked confusedly.

"It's no issue I'm just not use to being away from her that long. That's a big change fa me that's all." She said and looked over at Azureè who was sleeping peacefully in her dad's arms.

"But mmkay fine I guess. Ion know what you want me to say." She shrugged alittle annoyed.

"I wantchu to get off whateva on yo chest."

"Nun on my chest I said whatever I wanted to say."

"You sure bout that pooh?"

Xiari broke eye contact looking down at her lap. That name. She always liked the small pet name he had called her and for him to be using it right now in this situation after three years made her stomach turn.

He wasn't aware of saying it seeing as it had just naturally slipped out. He was confused when he saw her clear her throat, nervous and not even be able to keep eye contact with him.

Her legs closed lightly as she tried to get her mind off of the once peaceful memories. Instead she replaced them with the reminder of him hurting her and wouldn't allow herself to go through that again.

"Xiari?" Yhukani called out to her, snapping her from her thoughts.

She cleared her throat and sat up on the chair. "Ma fault."

"You good?" He asked genuinely and she nodded.

"Yeah. I'm actually finna go though." She stood up pulling her dress down. Yhukani eyes scanned over her slim thick figure, watching as she grabbed Azureè's baby bag which leaned against the side of the couch.

"I was gonna take her out somewhere, you can come if you want." Xiari said as she checked the bag to make sure she had everything.

"I gotta pick up Kiyah first, She can come too?"

Xiari nodded. "Yeah, you tell her bout Zureé yet or..?"

Yhukani shook his head. He hadn't talked to none of his family nor seen them since he was still tryna process Zureé being his; his ownself.

"Nah Ima tell her today though." He responded before getting up carefully since Zureé was still sleeping on him.

"Okay." Xiari replied. After that the two made their way to the front door, Xiari opening it and allowing the sunlight to pull in.

She walked out the house with Yhukani following behind her before turning towards him.

"We going in your car?" She asked curiously. He nodded and pulled his keys from his pocket.

"Yeah you gotta put phats car seat in ma car."

Xiari began making her way to her mom's second car before unlocking it and grabbing Azureè car seat from the back seat.

Afterwards she went to Yhukani's car and opened the unlocked door before sitting the seat in the back.

Yhukani watched as she fiddled with the seat belt and straps locking down the seat to the chair, completely focused. Once she finally finished she let out a breath of relief and moved out the way so Kani could strap azuree in.

He walked up to the car and placed a still sleeping zureé in her car seat. As he strapped her, she moved a little bit, missing the comfortable feeling of the skin to skin contact with her father.

It was fine though after alittle while when she got used to the new position and stayed still.

Kani placed a soft kiss on her cheek before closing her door, now facing Xiari.

"Get inna car I gotta get ma stuff out the house." he told her making her nod and do just that. He headed back to the front door while she hopped in the passenger seat and began putting on her seatbelt.

A couple of minutes later, the door opened and Yhukani got inside of the drivers seat, adjusting his chair as he started up the car. Xiari looked over at him and noticed the gun now on the waist of his jeans however she couldn't even be mad at him since she had a gun on her as well.

After he was situated, he turned down the air alittle so zureé wouldn't be too cold before pulling out of his driveway.

On the way there, Xiari posted her pictures she had took this morning.

Laughing, she closed her phone and looked out the window, enjoying the rest of the ride.

"She can come to me to the photo booth?" Kiyah asked grabbing Zureé's hand as she sat her juice cup down.

They had been at Chuckie Cheese for about 45 minutes. They had already received their food which was pizza and wings, got their drinks, and both Yhukani and Xiari had took Azuree around to play some games.

Now the two adults were sitting down but Kiyah wanted to take Zureé around to play another round of games.

"Yeah go ahead, you got the wristband." Xiari asked Kiyah and she nodded holding the green band up.

"Ight go head then."

"Make sure you hold her hand Kiyah." Yhukani told her referring to Azureè.

"I am, come on zureé." Kiyah carefully pulled her away and Azuree followed after her excitedly, a smile on her chubby cheeks ready to play the game.

Kiyah had took the news fairly easy as Yhukani expected. She was already gushing at zureé so much so when she found out she was her niece she was even more excited and happy.

It was still however was funny to kiyah and Kani since she was just teasing him about playing a step-daddy role when the whole time he was the real daddy.

What a coincidence.

Xiari smiled watching as the two walked away before adverting her attention back to the table. She looked up and saw yhukani staring nowhere, eyes low with a few bags indicating he was tired.

"You ain't get no sleep last night huh?" She chuckled and he looked over at her rubbing one of his eyes.

He shook his head. "Nah she go to sleep late as fuck ian used ta that yet."

"That must be with you then, she sleep early and wake up early wit me." She chuckled.

"She went ta sleep late and was up like 6 o'clock this morning, all up in ma face too looking like you n shit." He chuckled with her and she laughed alittle harder.

It was funny cause Azureè did get that from Mook. She woke up early all the time and was always the first person in everybody face.

"Lucky she look like me then, you so ugly." Xiari playfully rolled her eyes and he twisted his lips.

"Oh I'm ugly now?"

"You been was a lil off." Xiari tilted her head before laughing however Yhukani didn't find anything funny.

"So you was just fucking and sucking onna ugly nigga? That's low."

"I know right." She fake sighed and he just continued to stare at her.

"See I think you wan me ta call you ugly back but I'm not even gone lie like that." He leaned up on the table.

His eyes glanced at her exposed chest, watching as they rose and fell before bringing them back over to her face, watching as her face tried to stay unfazed although inside her heart was beating rapidly.

He still knew her so well just like back then. He felt like sometimes she'd purposely do shit to get a reaction out of him and right now, she was.

"You still fine as fuck pooh." He told her, tongue grazing over his bottom lip and she began to feel her face heat up.

"Y-you too." She admitted, words stuck in her throat however she immediately cursed lowly to herself for letting that truth slip.

He slightly smiled at her words as he leaned back in his seat, allowing her to calm herself back down.

The sound of Kiyah and Zureé running back over to the table made the two break gaze away from each other and instead turn they attention towards them.

"Look at our pictures." Kiyah said excitedly taking a seat next to yhukani, showing the sketch as well as the photobooth picture her and Zureé had took.

Yhukani looked over at Xiari one more time but she couldn't look at him for long and instead went to pick up Zureé, handing her another slice of pizza as all of them looked over the pictures.
