"I can't cass." Xiari chuckled shaking her head, going in the refrigerator to grab the orange juice.

"Why not zee?" Cassidy frowned. " We known you for ova a year now and you never went out with us, not once."

Xiari grabbed a glass cup from out of the cabinet before opening the juice and pouring some in her cup, closing it behind her afterwards.

"Maybe cause y'all don't have kids. I got a child Cass." Xiari rolled her eyes. "Who gone watch ma baby?"

She looked over at Azureé who was peacefully sleeping on the living room couch before sighing.

"There really isn't nobody who can watch her for you Mook? I know you a mom but you can still have fun too." Cassidy spoke on the other end.

Xiari rolled her eyes ignoring her.

She hated leaving her daughter with people she was wasn't familiar with. She didn't just trust anyone around her daughter enough and was way too paranoid.

If it wasn't a family member than zureé wasn't staying over there. No matter how badly Xiari really wanted her too.

"Takayla got work today and that's the only person who I'd trust so no." Xiari shook her head. Takayla was Xiari's older cousin. She was around her mom's age since Kioni and her were first cousins but she still trusted her to the fullest.

It was literally the only person she'd leave her baby with.

"I know you can find somebody else mook. If youn wanna go out just say that."

"I do wanna go out cass just not today. Whenever Kayla can watch zureé than we can. Be mad if you want but I'm not leaving ma baby with anybody."

The line went silent for a second nothing heard before Cassidy huffed and spoke up again.

"It's okay babes, I understand." She gave her a smile Xiari now smiling glad that she understood as well.

"Just let me know whenever you ready, me and lana gone be waiting"

"Okay, it's gone be soon too, real soon." She chuckled leaning on the counter, sipping the cup of orange juice.

"Ight boo, I love you."

"You too." Xiari hummed before hanging up the phone. If it wasn't coming from her family she didn't know what to believe when people said they loved someone.

She'd gone through months with a nigga lying and telling her he loved her just to find out he didn't. It was gonna take some extended time proving for her to genuinely accept those words back into her vocabulary again.

Sitting her phone down on the counter, Xiari finished drinking her orange juice before placing it in the sink to wash for later.

She then walked into her living room, sitting down next to zureé whom she knew was about to wake up any minute now, and allowed her thoughts to consume her until then.

Xiari was nineteen now, a sophomore in college and her major was in Chemistry since she wanted to be a dermatologist.

After that night with Yhukani she'd never seen him since then, nor made any efforts to contact him. She had him blocked on basically everything you could think of, even emailing.

She wanted no parts with him.

That night she had felt so stupid and used, he made her feel so worthless in that moment, like she herself wasn't good enough.

She was giving him her all while he only treated her as a type of game he could win.

So damn stupid.

Even now, here she was almost three years later next to his daughter yet she still couldn't find the courage to talk to him.

She never made any effort to either especially since the last time she heard, he was in jail and that was two years ago.

She knew she was wrong for what she was doing but facing him just wasn't an option. Opening up the wound that cut her so deeply wasn't an option and she didn't plan to open it back up anytime soon.

Xiari looked over at Azureé who was moving in her sleep, her nose slightly twitching letting her know she was beginning to wake up.

She'd been sleep for alittle over two hours now so it was bound to happen.

She watched as she lifted up, her thick hair now messy falling over her face, dried up slobber on her cheek as she scratched her chin.

Xiari stood up pulling up her jeans since they were falling down a bit. She held her hands out to Azureé who gladly allowed her mother to grab her, laying her head on her chest.

"You okay mama." Xiari spoke walking out of the living room to go to the back of her apartment where the rooms were.

"Mommy I hungry." Azureé responded, voice still groggy since she was half asleep.

"I know we finna go check on the shop then we can go eat somewhere okay?" Xiari told her sitting her down on her toddler bed.

Her room was decorated with a trollz theme since that was currently her favorite movie. The walls were pink and pretty much the pink poppy troll was on all of her items.

Azureè nodded wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

"How you still tired bug, you was sleep all that time." Xiari chuckled closing her drawers after she had found her a simple outfit. "I done got dress and everything."

"I-I not know mommy." Azureè wined leaning over to lay back down on her bed. Her eyes began to close again but Xiari quickly picked her up so she wouldn't fall back to sleep.

"No mama, stay up. You gone be up all night if you keep sleeping." She placed a kiss on her cheek.

Azureè pouted, now upset nonetheless but understood her mom and fought to keep her eyes open.

Xiari placed her back down on the bed and leaned down to her level as well so she could get her address.

Azureè was fully potty trained and had washed earlier so all she needed to do was put her clothes on.

As Xiari grabbed her shirt, her phone that was in her pocket began to ring and she looked at the id seeing it was the jail, most likely a call from her father.

She pressed the green button and went through the small process to accept the charges and call before finally hearing Taleem's voice on the other line.

"Wassup mook." He spoke and she put the phone on speaker instantly smiling.

"Hey dad, how you holding up?" She asked putting Azureè's shirt. She pulled it down so it could cover her stomach before grabbing the small Jean shorts.

"I'm bored as fuck in hea princess, whatchu doing though? I miss you."

"I miss you too and I'm getting zureé dress right now."

"Oh ight, tell ha I said hey." He spoke running his hand through his hair.

Taleem never actually met Azureè in person since Xiari went to N.C A&T which was in North Carolina, she hadn't got a chance to visit home as much.

"Tell pop pop hi." Mook nudged her shoulder.

"Don't tell ha to call me pop pop I ain't old girl." He mugged the phone although he couldn't see her.

"Boy you is her pop pop, get over it." Xiari chuckled rolling her eyes.

"Hiiii." Azureè picked up the phone speaking in a more confused tone trying to figure out where the voice was coming from.

"Hey zureé , whatchu up too?"

Azureè looked over at her mom, Xiari pointing to the phone letting her know it was coming through there.

"Um um...im hungry." She repeated tried to think of something to say, her bottom lip poking out.

"Why you ain't feeding her nun mook, stop starving ha." Taleem spoke making Xiari roll her eyes and grab the phone.

"We finna get something to eat actually. I know when to feed my baby." She answered him holding her hand out to Azureè.

Azureè grabbed it, wrapping her small hand around two of her mom's fingers before following beside her as they left out of her room.

Taleem blew about breath shaking his head. "I still can't believe you had a baby mook. I told yo ass you wan grown man."

Xiari laughed to herself. She still couldn't believe she had a baby either. Afterall, she was the youngest at the time and also was the last person to lose their virginity.

She damn sure wasn't expecting no baby anytime soon and definitely not from anyone who wasn't her husband.

"Welp, I was grown enough ta go through allat which was a waste of my time. Promise I'll listen to y'all big head behinds from now on." She chuckled.

"Right so if you gone listen then you gone listen when I say don't be out here sleeping wit nobody no more."

Xiari twisted her face up instantly knowing he was being slick. "Ehmmm noo. Not that type of listening dad sorry."

"Mmtcht you just want me ta have another heart attack. You stress me out knowing you ain't no virgin. You was pose to be ma princess mook." He frowned dramatically.

"I still am. Just one who out here fuck—Ight shutcho dumbass up." He instantly mugged the phone and she bust out laughing.

He was so dramatic, she loved messing with him.

"You have one minute remaining"

Xiari sighed now pouting, she couldn't wait to her dad got out of jail. His trial was next month and she just prayed he had a good enough lawyer to beat the case.

Still, she was grateful for the fact Saioir wasn't in jail with him either. Taleem had lied and took the blame for both of them since he knew his son had a future.

Instead he was able to prove and explain to the cops how he was supposedly the only one there that night and after a ton of convincing they let him off the hook.

For Taleem, it was gonna honestly take a miracle to prove he wasn't guilty. They didn't have a ton of evidence but they were tryna dig into his past and that was the problem.

"Ight mook this shit finna cut off imma call you inna coupla' days ite?"

"Okay, I love you dad." She smiled.

"I love you too mook." He replied and with that the call ended. Xiari stuffed the phone in her back pocket before going into the kitchen.

She opened up the cabinet and grabbed zureé a bag of cheese curls before getting herself some ruffles. Afterwards she closed the cabinet shut and walked back over to zureé grabbing her hands.

"Come on baby, you look so cute lemme take a picture." She said opening the front door so they could walk outside.

"Pose mommy?" Zureé asked and Xiari laughed nodding her head as she placed her near the wall of the building since they lived on the first floor.

"Yeah pose real quick fa ma." She spoke.

Xiari snapped a couple picture of her daughter watching as she did a wide cheese before doing posing in her resting face. Afterwards she captioned the photos and posted them to her Instagram.

Xiari stared at the three pictures for a second instantly feeling a frown come on her face. Every time she looked at Azureè she felt all of three emotions.

Happiness, love, and the more so the hidden one...guilt.

One day she knew she'd have to open up and tell him but today just wasn't gonna be that day.

"C'mon bug." Xiari spoke before guiding Azureè off to her car so the two could start off there day.

Heavy heavy guilty sighhhh.

At first I was gone kill kani off but I changed my mind and did this instead. I always wanted to do one of these plots so I thought it was perfect to incorporate that into here.

Xiari wrong asf though el oh el. Can't wait till she tell him😆
