16. she stared

The weekend to Barbados came faster than ever. The roomies and Alex had already reached the hotel that Friday morning and Rae was not so thrilled though for the weekend.

There was a a buzz in the streamer community considering Poki's engagement party because she was a very well established face in both Twitch and YouTube communities. However, Imane had only invited those streamers whom she shared a beyond work relationship with, which included the Amigops.

Corpse was for his poor health and obvious face reveal reasons had decided to not come, he however did send his best regards to Imane. Toast on the other hand had issues with his own personal life, for which he would have to shorten the stay and Sykkuno had to take care of a sick bimbus.

Which all in all led to Rae being without her group of friends. She knew she would practically be busy with Imane and the party prep but she really wished to have them around.

That also meant that she had to be around James, Sykkuno's Twin all by herself. And all this while she had either Imane or Sykkuno to calm her down and she was afraid she'd just snap at him.

Rae was unsure about James before yesterday's happenings, she wasn't even thinking about him the entire week. But just the previous day, the conversation with Sykkuno made her change her entire perspective.

'Hey chat!' Rae said, enthusiastic and upbeat. 'Hie, let's do a quick Reddit Recap and then we'll play a new game which Leslie and Tina wanted me to try. I'm not sure about the name but it's new and random. I think it'll be fun.'

She procceded to react on the reddit posts in her subreddit, laughing and cringing at herself. 'Oh, you guys.' She beamed at a fanart of hers as a Valkyrie, 'So talented. I swear.' She upvoted, smiling.

She then came across a meme of hers, where James looking incredibly handsome in a business suit was compared to sour patch gummies and instead of Pam it was Rae who was stating that the pictures were exactly same.

Rae pouted, staring at the camera while the chat poured in laughing emojis and she took a deep breath.

'Listen.' She said, pointing her finger at the camera. 'That is so untrue.' She shrugged, 'I just said it to troll Sykkuno. And I never said he looked like sour patch gummies.'

The chat disagreed and Rae shook her head. 'Oh you guys. Sykkuno's going to be so mad at me for this.' She joked, knowing very well that he wouldn't.

'You guys, stop with the Sykkuno's Twin questions. Geez.' She chuckled, trying her best to not say something upsetting and her good mood wasn't going to be spoiled by James and his mention. 'Also, yes, I have met James in person. So that's that.'

The chat further asked her questions on him but she shook her head again. 'No you guys, I am not going to say anything more. I'm afraid Sykkuno would get mad at me and Sykkuno is so much to me!'

When she procceded to further continue her Reddit she got a discord call from Sykkuno.

'Oh, hello Sykkuno.' She said on the livestream, because they knew if they wanted to keep it personal they'd call on their own cell not discord. 'Hiee.'

'Hey... Hey Rae.' Sykkuno cleared his throat, 'My chat got raided by yours and told me that you thought I'd be mad at something?'

Rae gasped, 'I cannot believe you guys outed me like that!' And she then smiled at the discord call. 'Nothing Sykkuno. They were trolling me for calling your twin sour patch gummies and I told them it was just for you and not him.'

Sykkuno chuckled nervously, while Rae opened his livestream. He smiled as he adjusted his hair and nodded. 'She's right guys, she was just trolling me not my brother. And I can never be mad at Rae.'

They soon discussed about upcoming Valorant matches and disconnected the calls while Rae finished her stream as per her schedule. However, she could see how nervous and conscious Sykkuno got on the mere mention of his twin. Even today, he was visibly weird.

It was a good thing that Sykkuno to others was always this way, so no-one could tell but she could.

And the first thing she did when their streams ended was call Sykkuno.

'I am okay, Rae.' Sykkuno justified, adding another chuckle to make it sound less important. 'Nothing's the matter.'

'Right. Right.' Rae said, disappointed. 'Fine.'

'Oh, don't be disheartened, Rae. It's nothing major.' Sykkuno said over the call.

'Cool.'

'Rae!'

'Yea?'

'Don't do this.'

'Don't do what?'

'These one word answers when you're upset.'

'I'm not.'

'Um.' Sykkuno gulped and all Rae heard was a sigh.

A defeated sigh.

'It's a long story, and probably not that important.'

'Sykkuno.' Rae took a deep breath as she said the next statement. 'You don't wanna tell me, I can understand. But let me say clearly that to me everything about you is important, okay?'

And with that Sykkuno trusted Rae with his story and Rae could only feel immense anger towards his twin.

But it wasn't punch or stab him anger, it was disgusted and flinching anger.

'Rae? Where are you lost?' Imane snapped in front of her, 'Alex and I are taking a day out in the spa. Janet is on the beach with the others, you wanna join?'

Rae shook her head, 'I think I'm going to just stroll around the hotel.'

'Alright, Rae. Call me if you need me.'

With that Rae walked around the amazingly peaceful hotel they had booked for the engagement party, and admired the salient vibes the place brought. It was early evening and the engagement party was the next day when most of the other guests would arrive. She had accompanied Imane to help her with the needed assistance alongwith with their family and Janet.

Rae was happy to take a break from work and her personal ex problems but she still couldn't help but keep thinking about Sykkuno and his twin.

All she hoped was to not encounter him with a one-to-one conversation at all this week. She would do something rude and it would ruin things more than it should.

The best she was going to do was ignore.

However she was lost in thought that she just ran into a person and felt a strong pair of arms around hers. She recollected herself rather quickly and apologized to the person who held her.

'I'm sorry. I just-' But she stopped when she saw the old familiar set of eyes boring into hers.

The black, dark and dangerous ones.

And she couldn't help but stare back.
