I feel vibrations through the floor, meaning someone must be coming up the steps to the apartment, but that doesn't stop me from trying to solve this Algebra question.

I jump at the touch on my shoulder and quickly turn around to see Haruhi, looking depressed.

Is there something wrong? I sign to her.

She looks like she sighs and picks her hands up to sign back to me.

I lost a bet to those annoying twins, Hikaru and Karou. They tricked me and now they can come to our house. Haruhi grumbly signs.

I had heard a lot about the Host Club, and how much of a pain they are, though I've never met them. From what I'm hearing from Haruhi, I kinda don't want to.

Are they really that bad? I sign out of curiosity.

You get used to them. She responds, and I nod to that.

She gets up and sits down at the table with me, taking out her homework and starting it.

I look back at my Algebra that Haruhi had wrote for me this morning and pout at the sight of difficult equations.

My eyes shift to my hearing aids.

I had gotten them a year ago, and knew how to keep a conversation going, but I can never pronounce names quite well.

I only wear my hearing aids when I go out with Haruhi to the store or when they're necessary.

I reach for them, and put them in my ears.

Once I put them in and turn them up, I can now hear the quiet air and Haruhi's pencil going against her paper.

"H-Haru.. hi.." I stutter her name, trying to pronounce it right.

It seems like it worked because she shot right up at the sound of my voice.

She softly smiled and leaned towards me.

"You said it right." She smiled.

I smile back, and laugh happily.

"I need help." I respond simply.

"With Algebra?"

I nod and point to the question.

"Dif.. icult..." I say, trying to say it right again.

She smiles once again, and I take that as a victory.

She explains it and I start to work it, resulting in me getting the worksheet right. Haruhi high-fives me and goes back to her homework.

"Thank you, Haruhi." I say.

She looks at me wide eyed, and it then turns into a smile, "Anytime sis."

I smile and look back at the worksheet, scanning over it so I remember what to do next time.

I feel happiness wash over me as I keep recalling me saying Haurhi's name without stuttering.

Now, with a little bit more practice, I can maybe say her name right without stuttering.

I take my hearing aids out and gently put them on the table.

'I wonder what the Host Club is like...'

My first chapter of this book! I'm so happy! Hope you all enjoyed it~πŸ’ž
