"Let me get this straight, you need me, an eight-year-old, to teach you, a renowned professor, about what I know?" I asked Murayama as he sips the tea in front of him.

My grandfather and siblings, peeked over the thin wall, thinking that they aren't visible.

"That's exactly it." He says and I sighed.

"No matter how you think of it, it's so strange. You don't even know me yet and why do you think that I have more knowledge than you? I'm not even in middle school yet." I said.

"Wisdom isn't measured by years of living, it's through experience. Not even high school students read the books you have mentioned in the past days, let alone understand it fully." He said.

Oh great, so I did this to myself.

"Of course, Michi is twin after all. She even has a research notebo-hmph!" Manjiro said proudly as he showed himself.

"Shhhh, you're too noisy Mikey!" Izana whisper yelled and pulled my twin back to their "hiding spot"

Murayama chuckled at the scene while I just mentally facepalmed. I care for Manjiro as his sibling but sometimes I just want to tape his mouth for good.

"So you know a thing or two about research? How about I show you my current research and you just have to give your thoughts about it?" He said.

"No"

"Huh?"

"Our agreement is that you'll inquire about the mechanism I made with my older brother, not to check your research." I said strictly.

"Of course, I apologize. Then, I will be asking a few questions." He said.

By a few questions, he meant a hundred. It took us at least three hours to finish so the others got bored and left the area.

"So, as for the last question. What was the reason you have created such work?" He asked.

"It's a gift." I said as he wrote it down.

"Thank you very much for patiently answering the questions. As my thanks, please take this." He said and handed me a card.

"I still have your business card, there's no need for that." I said and he chuckled again.

"This is not a business card but a pass." He said

"A pass?"

"If you ever need any help, no matter what it is, you can visit me any time at the institute and I'll show you around anytime." He said.

A tour?

"I shall be on my way now, thank you once again and I hope I can ask you more things next time, sensei." He said and bowed at a right angle.

"Sensei?" I asked

"Of course, you taught me a lot of things today so it's just common to address my mentor respectfully." He said.

"You even bowed at a right angle, what happened to your pride?" I said and he chuckled.

"This is but a small gesture to achieve more knowledge, my passion for education is not bound by pride. Besides, you don't seem to mind it. The way I see it, it's like you're used to being respected." He said.

He's surprisingly sharp. In my past life, others who wanted my help always bows in the respect that I got so used to seeing it.

I guess habits don't change even in a new body.

"But stop calling me sensei when people are around. As someone who is renowned as you, you need to at least save face." I said.

"I'll take that in mind. Well then, goodbye, and thank you once again." He said as he bid goodbye to me and my family before he left.

*sigh*

How bothersome.

"Michi! Are you finished? Let's have a spar!" Manjiro exclaimed as he hopped on my back.

"What about Izana and Kaku? Or even Keisuke?" I asked.

"Izana is fighting Kaku and Baji didn't come to training today. C'mon Michi, it's been a long time since we spared." He said.

"We just did last week" I said.

"That's a long time!" He exclaimed.

Jeez, he's becoming more and more of a brat.

"Alright, let me change my clothes first." I said and he cheered, telling me to meet him at the dojo.

After I changed to my training clothes, on my way to the dojo, I heard a ruckus outside so I took a curious peek.

"Please, Sano-san, give me one more chance. What happened last time was an incident." A male voice said.

It was the instructor that I fought last time and was fired by grandpa. He looks like a homeless drunkard now, he's so miserable.

"I told you many times that there's no need for you here. Go find another dojo to teach at, there are plenty." Grandpa said with a huff while his arm was crossed.

"There is no other dojo that accepts me after you fired me. Please, give me one more chance." He said and bowed his head to the ground.

"Go back, I have no need of someone like you here. This place does not welcome you either." Grandpa said and turned around, heading my way.

"Michiyo, so you finally decided to come to practice today. That's good, now go and practice with your twin. Don't mind what's outside." Grandpa said while I looked at the former instructor outside who clicked his tongue and gave a glare when he raised his head and saw me.

"Hai" I replied to grandpa before ignoring the former instructor and giving him a cold shoulder as my grandfather did.

What's with his deep hate towards me? What a bothersome extra who didn't even make it to the Manga series.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" They cheered.

Family and close friends gave us gifts on our birthday but I still don't fully consider this day to be my birthday. I wasn't supposed to be here anyway.

A sudden knock on the door took my attention away from watching my friends and siblings run around. Since the adults were busy with the party, I was the one who opened the door.

"Sensei! Happy birth-"

*slam*

How bothersome. The self-proclaimed student of mine came here while holding a bunch of things and is dressed up like a clown.

"Who was that, Michi?" Shin asked.

"A clown" I said and went back and joined the others.

Shin opened the door and welcomed Keiji inside the house, helping him carry the gifts inside the house.

"Huh? Isn't that the famous professor from the National Science Institute?!" Kisaki asked excitedly, shaking me violently with sparkles in his eyes.

"Yes" I said and he shook me even violently until Haru pulled him back.

I only learned that Kisaki looks up to him since Keiji taught them for a day at cram school. I had no choice but to introduce them to each other and that made Keiji busy.

All went well, from the games that Shin prepared to the food that grandpa bought. The birthday party was a success and everyone was happy.

We bid goodbye to each other as the guest left. After cleaning all the mess, we opened our gifts. Mostly are a pair of matching things like cups and clothes. I mostly received books while Manjiro got toys.

"Wait here" I said to Manjiro before going to our room to get the gift that I and Shin created.

"Here's my present." I said and handed him the box.

"But Michi...I didn't get you anything." He said, hesitant to take the gift.

"I don't need it so it's fine. Just promise me one thing." I said and he nodded.

"You should learn to share" I said and he looked at me dumbfounded.

"That's it?" He asked and I nodded. In the end, he promised me and opened the gift with the widest and brightest smile he could muster.

I was about to clean up the scattered wrappers on the floor when I saw a small box wrapped in a simple black wrapper with a red ribbon tied around it, addressed to me.

Slowly, I untied the ribbon and opened the box to see a black messily-crocheted cat wearing a pink scarf keychain, there's also a bunch of hand-made hair ties included in the box.

The sender wasn't written anywhere but I knew who was it from and a small smile crept into my face.ย

So that's why you have a few bandaids on your fingers, Haru.
