Walking to school with Emma, my bag in front of me while I carry my sleeping twin.

"Manjiro, if you drool on my clothes, we'll leave you on the streets." I said

If this continues, even more, I might grow some muscles. No matter how much I lecture Manjito, he won't ever listen.

I can't wait till Draken shows up and do this kind of thing.

"Nee-chan, I can carry your bag if you want." Emma said with concern but I refused since she was already carrying Manjiro's bag.

My name was called, making us stop walking and turn around to see Haru and Senju walking together.

"Ohayo, Michi, Mikey, Emma!" Haru greeted with a bright smile and so did Senju. It's too bright that I might get blind.

We greeted back and continued to walk to school. Emma and Senju were chatting and walked ahead.

"How about I carry him instead?" Haru asked as he pointed to Manjiro. I didn't refuse since my arms were getting tired so I woke Manjiro up and let him transfer to his back. I, in return, carried his bag.

"Thanks" I said while he only smiled with a slight blush on his cheeks.

Not much happened over the past few years, I've been observing Manjiro, and no sign of the dark impulsivity that he has mentioned in the series.

Was the toy really the only reason why he changed? It's not confirmed since it was only from Senju's perspective. In any case, there's something I have to do first.

"Michi?" Haru asked, taking me away from my deep thought.

"Huh?" I asked

"I was just asking if you'd like to hang out by the swing later after school." He asked shyly.

"Sure" I replied, thinking it's a nice place to think and come up with a plan.

Last year, Shin had already created his gang, together with Takeomi. It's now a big group after two other gangs joined under him.

Although I wasn't able to watch him fight, it was amazing how he combined two powerful gangs who were just in conflict.

But that being said, he would always come home beaten and messy and since he didn't want grandpa to lecture him over and over, I and Emma would always help him patch up.

These days he's been going out more often than usual so I think it's because he's seeing Izana at the orphanage.

Why is the plot of this story so problematic and complicated?

How bothersome.

Staring off to the distance as I was in the swing. Now, at least I could reach the ground with the tip of my toes.

"What's on your mind, Michi?" Haru asked.

"Problems" I replied making him surprised.

"Eh? Are the homework in math that hard that even the top can't answer?" He asked with worry.

"Not math problems, I'm thinking about family problems." I said

He was partly relieved but still worried and asked me what kind of problems. He even asked if me and Manjiro had a quarrel, but of course, there's none.

We never had such a serious fight since my mental age is higher than his. If ever we did, that means I just argued with a child.

"Then what problem are you talking about?" He asked.

"I want a new sibling." I stated, creating silence while he was trying to process what I just said.

That is the simple way I can say it to him.

"A-are you sure you and Mikey aren't fighting? Why do you suddenly want a new brother?" Haru asked.

"As I said, I and Manjiro are not fighting. I just want a new brother because, you know, Shin-nii is already 18, he might find someone soon and leave the house to settle down." I reasoned.

Well, Shin won't really find someone even in his 20s. I just needed a reason to give, sorry.

"Aren't you thinking far too much ahead?" He asked and sweatdropped.

"It's better to prepare than to repair."

"Huh?"

"It means that being ready for what's to come is more ideal than fixing what's damaged. It's the same for sickness, it's better to prevent being sick than getting cured." I explained.

When I looked back at him after the explanation I gave, he was just staring as if his mind was buffering.

"Michi, I still don't understand. But...what if you just tell it to your grandpa?" He asked.

"Maybe I should" I said and continued to swing.

At the dinner table, all of us were silently eating. Shin, was still covered with scratches and bruises. Manjiro, dozing off after playing with Keisuke and the others. Emma, still silently eating. And grandpa, the same as usual.

Halfway to finishing my plate, I put down my chopstick, gaining their attention.

"Grandpa, can I ask a favor?" I stated as he raised a brow. This would be quite unusual for them since I've never asked for a favor ever since.

"What is it?" He asked as the others were anticipating except my twin.

"I want a new sibling"

*thud*ย

Manjiro's forehead hit the table, waking him up completely

*cough*

Shin began choking on his food.

*clang*

Emma let go of her chopsticks as she looked at me with shocked eyes.

"..." Granpa was silent.

Was it the wrong timing?

"M-Michi, is it because I accidentally drew on your research notebook?" Manjiro asked, tears welling in his eyes as he was holding his sore forehead.

"Not quite but partly, yes."

"Michi, why do you need a new sibling so suddenly? Do you hate nii-san because I kept bothering you with my homework?" Shin asked.

"I don't hate you but partly, it's because of the homework."

"Nee-chan..."

"You didn't do anything, Emma. Don't worry." I said and pat her head and she immediately smiled in relief.

I looked back to grandpa who was silent and unmoving.

The old man was too stunned to speak.

"Can we adopt?" I asked as Shin's expression turned from sad to shocked.

"Michiyo, as much as I'd like to agree to your first favor, adoption is a complicated thing to do. Not only that, the expenses of having another child in the household are concerning." Grandpa said and I looked down.

They were looking at me with pity, thinking I'm feeling down but in reality, I was just thinking.

"So money is the biggest problem?" I asked and grandpa agreed.

"If we have money, will you agree to adopt?" I asked and he sighed.

"The process may be bothersome but if we had money to raise another one, there won't be any problems." He said and I nodded.

After finishing my plate, I excused myself and went to our room. Me and Emma shared one room while Shin and Manjiro shared.

Although, Manjiro would sneak in a few times. He threw a big tantrum when they separated us but eventually he slowly got used to being away from me sometimes.

As I was writing in my notebook, an arm was wrapped behind me and it was my twin.

"Michiyo, don't be sad." He said while I just said that I'm not.

He then started to apologize for the things he has done, like hiding my notes and forcing me to have a duel with him.

"Why do you want a new sibling when you have me, nii-chan, and Emma?" He asked.

"I'm doing this for everyone, especially you." I muttered.

"Huh? For me?"

"Yeah"

"I don't understand."

"You don't have to, just remember that it's for the best." I said and a moment of silence where shared before he finally accepted what I said.

"But I'm still your favorite sibling, right?" He asked.

"Emma is my favorite and Shin-nii us next." I said and he whined.

"Why am I last, when I'm your twin!" He asked.

"I never said you're last."

"Huh, then where?"

"You're not on the list because you're beside me, dummy. If I rank you then it's like I'm ranking myself too." I said

"Huh?"

"It means you are above the list." I said and a wide smile was painted on his face before he turned smug.

I feed his ego too much again. How bothersome.
