You had signed the contract and the very next day you gave your resignation letter. You will get paid five times the amount of your salary after all, and based on your computation, you will be able to pay most of the debts and give your parents the spare.

It feels like a win-win situation for you. Even though you knew that if something is too good, it's hardly true. But it's Kenma, and he can pay you five times as agreed, in fact he can even pay you more than that.

Your first duty, if you can call it that, is to make Suki's breakfast. Kenma told you his daughter usually wakes up at seven on the dot on weekdays and eight on weekends. And since it's a weekday, you came to his place specifically early.

It looked like Kenma had just gone from the bed when he opened the door and you walked in.

"Good morning," you greeted him first, he didn't say anything and instead just nodded in acknowledgement. You learned that he isn't a morning person, after all.

"What does Suki usually eats during breakfast?"

"Cereals," Kenma said before he headed to the living room and propped himself on the couch while you headed to the kitchen.

You tied your hair up in a bun and folded the sleeves of your blouse up to your forearm before you took an apron neatly folded on the side of the counter and wore it. You weren't really surprised to hear Kenma saying that Suki usually eats cereals for breakfast, although it has its fair share of nutritional value, children can get tired having them for breakfast all the time.

So this time, you decided to try out something new for Suki. Not that it's really new as breakfast, you often have this at home when you were little since your mother always made them, it might be Suki's first time having such breakfast, since you doubt Kenma cooks.

While preparing for the breakfast in mind, fortunately Kenma's fridge have all the necessary ingredients, in fact his fridge was full of food that you doubt he even touch since Kenma really has small appetite.

After half an hour, you started to arrange the table, putting the cheesy rice with chicken and broccoli in the plate. You briefly look up to see Suki walking out of the corner where you believed her room was.

Her long hair is messy and almost covers her face, she's wearing a cute pyjama you noticed and she's carrying what looked like a cat plush toy as she trudged to where Kenma is sitting.

Kenma, who was busy with his phone, noticed Suki approaching him and he put the device to the side when the little girl walked up to him and buried her face on his stomach. She stayed like that for a few seconds as Kenma leaned close to her as if he's whispering something in her ear before she nodded her head and looks up. Kenma brushed her hair away from her face before he said something again.

"Say good morning to the person over there." Kenma nodded to the direction of the kitchen and when Suki looked at where he nodded at, she immediately noticed you standing there and her eyes lit up together with a smile.

"Ms. Y/n!" she said, running up to you.

You were taken aback when she suddenly lunged herself towards you, wrapping her arms around your waist as she buried her face on your stomach and snuggled before you held her and bent down.

"Good morning Ms. Y/n."

"Good morning Suki-chan," you said, putting the strand of her hair behind her face as you pinched her cheeks slightly that made the little girl giggled.

"I thought I smelled something good," Kenma said when he walks up to the kitchen. "What did you make?"

"I made cheesy rice with chicken."

And broccoli, but you left that out because you knew Suki might not want to eat it when she hears broccoli. But cheese and chicken on the other hand, you noticed the little girl's eyes lit up again and she gulped.

"That sounded delish, Ms. Y/n!"

Kenma walked up to the table, you and Suki following behind. After the little girl settled on her chair, you put a good amount of cheesy rice on her bowl while Kenma put milk in her glass before he took a seat in front of you.

Kenma look at the food you made before he spoke, "Isn't that broβ€”"

You cleared your throat loudly, causing Kenma to stop what he's about to say and looked at you. You gave him a look that says don't you dare say it and Kenma understood. He looked back at Suki who is looking at him before Kenma nodded to her food.

"Go eat it, it's delicious."

"Go eat it first, daddy," she suddenly said, her eyes squinting suspiciously.

Kenma never liked broccoli either, even then as a kid, he always put them aside. And Suki must have realized what he was going to say earlier, since she's giving her a look of suspicion.

"I'll go eat it first," you said, chuckling a bit forcefully as you took a spoonful. "See? It's not that bad."

Suki averted her gaze from Kenma as she look at you and you gave her a smile. She gulped visibly, seeing as how you seemingly enjoyed the food genuinely.

"It's really good," Kenma said, and you looked at him to see that he's eating it.

Suki took her spoon and scoop the cheesy rice before she took a bite. The flavour of cheese overwhelmed the taste of broccoli and Suki decided that it would be her favorite food from now on.

She finished her whole bowl and downed her milk before she left and headed back to her room.

"Where did you learn that recipe?" Kenma asked, since he was able to eat the broccoli as well.

"From my mom. They have a small farm back at home so we have lots of rice and she would make recipe with rice, one of my favorite is cheesy chicken broccoli rice casserole."

Kenma nodded his head before he stood up. "I'll go help Suki dress up for school."

"Ah, no! I'll do it."

You stood up immediately and put the dishes in the dishwasher before you walk towards the corridor but stopped when you realized something.

"Where's Suki's room?" you asked, turning to Kenma.

"First door, to the left."

While helping Suki get dressed, you also decided to put her hair in a ponytail and it suit her. She said she likes it, and that it's her first time enjoying dressing up before school because usually her dad would just throw in whatever clothes he finds in her closet.

On top of cooking breakfast, helping her dress up, you also come with her to school. This time, instead of the Acura NSX Kenma was driving the other day, he's now driving a maroon Acura TLX so Suki can sit at the back seat of the car.

"Just how many cars do you own?"

"Just two," Kenma answered as the car left the apartment complex parking space.

"Just two?" you repeated. He said it so nonchalantly when you can't even afford one.

"I dislike commuting. So having my own vehicle is more convenient."

Then he should have just bought one, you thought. But then again, you weren't in any place to tell him how to spend his own money.

"Suki likes this one." Suddenly the little girl spoke from the back seat and you turned to look at her.

"Daddy just bought the yellow car because Uncle sweet-talked him into buying it."

"Kuroo did?" you asked, looking back at Kenma as you chuckled, making the tip of Kenma's ears heat up, turning red in embarrassment and you chuckled more.

"Suki, I thought that was a secret? Even your grandmother doesn't know that."

"Oh but daddy, we should share secrets with Ms. Y/n."

"Right, Kenma, we're family."

Suddenly you realized what you just said and you averted your gaze. "I mean...we're just..."

"Family," Kenma said, making you looked at him to see that he's looking at you while the car already halted. "It has a nice ring to it."

While you and Kenma looked at each, Suki looked between you and her dad before her smile widen. For the first time in her life, she felt like a missing part is already found.

It reminded her of the time when she's solving a jigsaw puzzle. She lost the last piece and Kenma helped her find it, they looked around for hours until the sun had set, and when Suki was close to giving up, Kenma found it.

The last piece that completed the puzzle.Β
