The days continued to flow like a serene river, it had been a week since that family date at Ueno Park. It had been a week since Kenma told Suki about her birth mother and that he isn't her dad but her uncle. It had been a week since then, and yet things had barely changed.

If anything, it didn't change at all.

Suki is still her usual self, her behaviour around Kenma didn't change a bit, except for that one time when she heard what Kenma said, but that was already cleared.

It's true that humans can adapt to things quite well, and Suki as a child has a lot more room to grow but her considerate and understanding nature outweighs her somewhat constant stubbornness when it comes to other trivial matters.

Things didn't change at all since that time, and Kenma hope to keep it that way.

"Daddy, where are we going?" Suki asked as she looked up at Kenma who's holding her hand while walking up the flight of stairs.

"We're going to see your birth mother."

"Birth mother," Suki muttered, finger on her chin as she thinks about the word and realized it a moment later. "Daddy's older sister."

"Yeah,"

When Kenma picked Suki up to school earlier that afternoon, he decided to take her to where Kana's final resting place is. And while you were left at home, Kenma also hope you could have come but you said it would be better if it's just the two of them who'll go this time.

As Kenma got near, Suki looked around. She noticed the place have gravestones and an eerily peaceful atmosphere that the little girl must have sense as she moved closer to Kenma.

"Daddy," she muttered and Kenma carried her as he continued to walk, stopping at the gravestone where Kana's name was engraved along with her picture.

"Daddy, is she Suki's birth mother?" the little girl asked when she noticed the picture and Kenma nodded, bending down as she placed Suki on the ground and the little girl leaned on his knee. "Does she look like Suki?"

"Yeah, you look very much like her," he answered, looking at Suki before Kenma brushed the little girl's hair behind her ear. "And there were times when you had taken a lot of her traits."

"Is that a bad thing?" Suki asked, tilting her head and Kenma chuckled lowly, his smile that didn't quite reach his eyes before he averted his gaze to look at the picture.

"No, it wasn't a bad thing," he answered, voice a bit low. "If anything, I'm glad you take after her. She was a humble yet strong-willed person."

Suki looked back at the picture as well. The woman in the picture looks young, in her early twenties. Her hair is tied in a ponytail with some of the strands falling on the side of her face. Her eyes are her most striking feature, they were the color of amber, like the yellow leaves that fall during autumn.

She was a beautiful young woman, much like Suki, Kenma thought.

After that short visit, the two headed back. It's nightfall when they arrived at the unit and they were welcomed by the smell of beef stew that came from the kitchen.

Kenma had just taken off the little girl's jacket when she's already running down the hallway while shouting 'mommy, we're home'.

Shaking his head, Kenma followed behind until he got to the kitchen.

"Dinner's about ready," you said. "Welcome back."

"Yeah, we're back," Kenma said.

You returned it with a smile as Suki headed to her room to change. Once the table had been set and the three of you are eating, Suki told you about visiting her birth mother's grave and seeing her picture for the first time.

"And daddy said I look like her," the little girl said and you chuckled lightly, wiping the side of her lips with a napkin.

"Then Suki-chan is a very pretty girl."

"Daddy, am I pretty?" Suki asked, looking at Kenma who stopped for a second before he took a glass of water.

"Now that you asked me, I think you look like feral kitten that's always baring its fangs at its parent."

"Daddy!" Suki whined in protest as Kenma took a sip of the water and you chuckled a little louder before shaking your head.

"Mommy, daddy said I look a feral kitten. What even does a feral kitten looks like?"

"You should go look at yourself in the mirror right now," Kenma said, putting his glass down and Suki turned to him. But before the little girl can say anything, Kenma added. "Of course you're pretty. You have two very beautiful mothers."

You suddenly stopped when you heard what Kenma said, even though his voice was a bit silent at the end. You can feel your face starting to heat up and you couldn't meet Kenma's gaze that you knew was trailed on you.

Until Suki suddenly spoke.

"Do daddy love mommy?" Suki asked and Kenma looked back at her.

"Which one?"

"Both of them!"

Kenma's answer came without hesitation. "Of course," he said, and your face that was starting to heat up earlier reddens at hearing Kenma's words.

"Daddy love them the same?"

This time, Kenma had grown silent for a few seconds and Suki waited for his answer. Does he love them the same?

There was a time when he did. Not exactly to the point of love, but there was a time when Kenma cared for you like he did to Kana. He said so himself, that as long as you're taking care of Suki like a mother would to her child, Kenma will treat you in a way that Suki's birth mother should be treated.

Does he love them the same, Kenma repeated to himself.

"Suki, you see, love comes in different forms," Kenma started, turning to the little girl completely as he put his arm on the back of her chair "My love for Kana is a love of a brother to his sister."

You sneak in a glance only to see that Kenma had been looking at you, and for a second you thought his amber eyes were brighter just now, gleaming like the golden hour before dusk.

"And my love for Y/n is a love of a man to his lover."

Suddenly you felt your heart skipped a beat, it wasn't an unpleasant feeling, if anything it was a feeling you wanted to remember but you don't want to feel more often because you don't want to get used to it. Getting this kind of feeling every once in a while is what makes it special.

You thought the dinner that seems to last longer than usual wouldn't end with that question from Suki, but it did and the little girl left soon after that.

Though you also thought her question wouldn't linger in your mind, not until Kenma suddenly brought it back up.

"It used to be the same type of love," Kenma spoke, walking up to you and you turned around to face him only to see that he had stood closer to you.

"When you told me you'd treat me the same way Suki's birth mother should be treated, you were going to treat me like an older sister?"

Kenma nodded, taking a step forward and you inevitably took a step back as he put his arm on the counter behind you.

"Was that because I'm a year older than you?"

"It doesn't matter now," he said, lowering his head, his forehead almost touching yours.

You averted your gaze to the side and in a silent mutter you spoke, "To think that you used to treat me like an older sister."

"Y/n," he called and you looked back at him. "You wouldn't do this to your sibling."

"Do whaβ€”"

You were cut off when he suddenly held your cheek and sealed your lips with his. The kiss was gentle and slow, like both of you wanted to savor this feeling for a fleeting moment in time. When Kenma leaned back, he moved down to your neck and planted kisses on those spots.

"Kenma," you muttered, feeling the warmth of his breath on your neck and your face starting to heat up. "Suki...might come back here."

You thought Kenma wasn't able to hear you, but he leaned back and looked at you before pressing his forehead on yours. You lifted your hand to the side of his face and brushed some strands of his hair away from his eyes.

"You looked like you wanted to say something," you said. "Is there something bothering you?"

Kenma lowered his head and his forehead fell on your shoulder, silence followed a few seconds afterwards before Kenma spoke.

"Tomorrow, a doctor will come here," he started. "She'll take a buccal swab test for the paternity test."

Kenma sounded dejected and you wanted to provide some sort of comfort. They say action speaks louder than words, but sometimes one has to act and speak at the same time to provide better ease.

So as you wrap your arms around Kenma, you told him those words. "No matter what the result is, Suki will always see you as her dad, more than anyone else in this world."

And Kenma's only response was the tight embrace he returned. It wasn't just the kiss that you and Kenma wanted to relish in such a fleeting moment in time.

Every single second spent with that little girl should be cherished, because who knows what tomorrow will bring, especially when change is the only constant thing in a world that's constantly changing.
