Hours had gone like pages in a book being swept by the wind. The kids who were playing tag earlier had now gone to their parents, Hiro and Suki included. And while you sat on the bench, you look at Kenma and Suki up ahead.

Eyes filled with warmth as you watch the two walking down the pathway towards you. Kenma stopped when he felt Suki tugged his hand, when he looked down he saw the laces from the little girl's shoes had come undone.

Kenma bent down and picked Suki up as he continued walking towards you until he got near and settled Suki on the bench beside you. Kenma kneeled down and tied the little girl's shoelace before he looked up.

"Suki," he started, and Kenma glance at you as if he's asking you something to which you realized right away as you nodded.

He's asking if this is the right time to tell the little girl.

"Do you remember when you asked me why you don't have a mommy?"

Suki tilted her head to the side before she nodded. Kenma's hands are propped on the edge of the bench as he looked the girl in the eye.

"Do you still want to know about your mom?"

"Daddy," she said before she looked at you. "Ms. Y/n is Suki's mommy."

"Suki-chan," you felt a sense of warmth engulfing your chest, warmer than any summer breeze you've felt before. "I'm Suki-chan's mommy, but Suki-chan had a mommy before Ms. Y/n came."

"I have?" Suki asked, looking back at Kenma who nodded.

Kenma doesn't know how to start, frankly he doesn't know where to start. Will he say that her mother is dead, just like that?

But then again, even if she's a kid, Kenma knew that she wouldn't exactly feel saddened at the fact that the woman who gave birth to her is dead. Because she has no lingering attachment to someone she doesn't know in the first place.

But you told Kenma that he should think of the little girl's mental wellbeing. Saying someone significant to her is dead just like that is inconsiderate to how the little girl might take it.

You noticed Kenma's hands tightening on the edge of the bench and you found yourself touching the back of his hand lightly. Somehow your touch had pulled him back from his short reverie and he blinked his eyes, focusing back to Suki.

"Suki's mom..." he trailed off, pausing for a second before he continued. "...is my older sister."

"Daddy's older sister is Suki's mommy?" she asked, tilting her head to the side again in utter confusion, eyebrows furrowed.

"I...I'm not your dad," Kenma finally said it. "I'm your uncle."

"Uncle?" she asked slowly before she looked at you.

"Suki-chan," you said, getting off the bench to get to the little girl's eye level as you bent down beside Kenma. "It means that daddy is not Suki-chan's real daddy like how Ms. Y/n is not Suki-chan's real mommy. Because Suki-chan's real mommy is..."

"My older sister," Kenma said and you looked at him. "That makes me your uncle."

"Uncle, like Uncle Kuroo?"

"Like Uncle Kuro," Kenma repeated. "But half of the blood in Suki's veins is the same as the blood running in my veins."

"Suki doesn't think she understands," Suki said slowly before she added. "But if daddy is uncle then... what about Suki's real daddy?"

Of course she would ask, Kenma thought to himself. He tried to swallow the words back, but he had to ask for the sake of it.

"Do you want..." Kenma lowered his head, closing his eyes. "Do you want to meet your real dad?"

"And Suki's real mommy too?" she asked.

At the mention of it, Kenma opened his eyes, still with his head lowered he bit his lower lip as his brows furrowed before he closed his eyes again and took a deep breath. He lifted his head and look at Suki, her eyes that resemble his and that also resembles Kana's bright amber hues.

"Your real mommy is no longer with us in this world."

"Where did she go?"

"She went far away, in a place where she couldn't return here."

Suki looked down, hands fiddling with her fingers. "Did she leave Suki because she doesn't want Suki?"

"No!" you quickly said, almost surprising the little girl as she looked up at you. "No, she didn't leave Suki-chan because she doesn't want Suki-chan. She left because..."

Because what, you thought.

"Because she had no choice," Kenma continued for you. "She will only hurt more if she stays in this world. So she has to leave."

"If she leaves, the pain will go away?" Suki asked and Kenma nodded.

"Yes," he said, voice almost breaking. "The pain will go away."

Suki seems to understand, slowly, but she understands. In time, she will get to understand the concept of life and death too, but for now, that explanation will do. Her birth mother left not because she doesn't want Suki, but because it was too painful for her to stay in this world.

"How about Suki's real daddy?" the little girl asked again.

"You'll get to meet him again soon."

Was all that Kenma said before he stood up and held the little girl's hand while you did too as she jumped from the bench and stood in the middle of you and Kenma.

Meet him again, Suki realized through Kenma's words that she had met the man already.

They were walking down the pathway again when Suki tugged Kenma's hand and stopped, causing you and Kenma to stop as well. She looked up at Kenma before she asked that question.

"What should I call daddy now?" she asked, but before Kenma can answer, Suki continued. "Can Suki still calls daddy, daddy?"

You looked at Kenma just in time to see the upturn of the side of his lips in a smile. "Of course you can."

Because no matter what happens, he is Suki's first dad, the first man whom the little girl recognized as her father. And you, the first woman she accepted as her mother.

So even if you didn't give birth to her or if she didn't come from Kenma, nothing can change the fact that you two are her first parents that she recognized and accepted. Be it by blood or by fate.

That night, after you ate dinner and after a seemingly short but eventful family date at Ueno Park, Suki requested something. She asked if she can watch a movie together with you and Kenma.

But halfway along the movie, she fell asleep.

"Maybe she's tired," you muttered, voice low so you wouldn't wake her up.

Seeing the little girl sleeping, snuggling on your chest with her light intake of breath had made you somewhat sleepy as well. And before you knew it you were dozing off.

Your head fell on Kenma's chest and you gave in to the slumber that's tempting you in its embrace. As the credits of the movie roll, Kenma looked down to see two of the most precious women in his life sleeping soundly.

"And you're tired too," he said, brushing some strand of hair from your face. He leaned down to plant a kiss on your temple and you stirred from you slumber, since you weren't really sleeping that deeply.

"Did I wake you up?" Kenma asked when you lifted your head to look at him, eyes still half-lidded but you shook your head.

"Is Suki still asleep?" you look down and saw the little girl is indeed still sound asleep.

"I'll go take her to her room," Kenma said, moving from the couch as you sat up slowly and Kenma picked Suki up.

You were left there for a while and you started dozing off again until you felt arms hoisting you up from the couch. You wrap your arms instinctively around his shoulders and snuggled close to him as you smelled Kenma's familiar scent.

Until he opened the door and lay you down on your bed.

Or at least you thought was your bed until you rolled around and Kenma's familiar scent engulfed you. When you opened your eyes, you saw an unfamiliar wall and when you rolled back you realized you weren't in your room.

You were about to sit up when Kenma pulled the sheet and wrap it on you as he pushed you back on the bed.

"Kenma what..." you slowly asked, looking at him, the slumber in your system almost dissipating as your eyes slowly widen when you saw him taking his shirt off. "What exactly are you doing?!"

On instinct you threw a pillow at him, which Kenma barely caught before it hit his face and he put the pillow down.

"I'm getting ready to sleep," he said, pulling the sheet as he lie down beside you, aware that he isn't wearing any top. "Unless you're thinking of something else. I'm fine either way."

"Do you usually sleep without a shirt on?"

"Sometimes I even sleep without anything on."

"Mr. Kozume Kenma, need I remind you that you're living with your six year old daughter?"

Kenma wrap his arms around you, face buried on the crook of your neck as he snuggled closer. "You're so fun to tease."

At least Kenma can sleep tonight with the feeling that some of the burden that's bothering him each night was lifted off his chest. Telling Suki about her birth mother and how Kenma isn't really her dad but her uncle.

Now the only thing left is that paternal test. But Kenma can feel that regardless of the result, he will still be Suki's firstdad, and no amount of money, love or test can change that
