"The family date, let's go tomorrow."

It was what Kenma said yesterday, but you realized that things don't always turn what one would expect it to be. Like the weather, one moment it's raining and the next it's sunny. You should have realized that sooner.

"I can't go," Kenma said that morning. It's not because the weather is bad, it's not because it's raining or he's down with a fever. "There's a conflict in my schedule."

When you looked at Kenma, you saw that he's holding his phone and he seems to be in a rash. You haven't even said anything when Kenma left and headed back to his room.

"Suki," you muttered, thinking about what the little girl would feel if she finds out that her father will not be able to go to the family date.

You were going to leave the kitchen to go to Suki's room when you heard footsteps ahead and the little girl came moments later, her smile wide and she seems to be more cheerful than she was yesterday. "Mommy, good morning!" she said, walking up to you.

"Good morning, Suki-chan."

"Is daddy awake?" she asked, climbing up her chair. "When are we going to the park?" she asked again even before you can answer her first question.

"Suki-chan, the thing is..." you trailed off, looking for ways to tell her but before you can continue, Kenma came back. He had already changed his clothes you noticed. He's now wearing a polo shirt with two buttons left unbuttoned and a tie left untied around his shoulders while he's holding a coat.

"Daddy!" Suki said when she saw Kenma. "Oh? Daddy? What a weird outfit for a family date at a park."

Kenma took a glass of water and gulped it down before he looked at Suki. "I'm not going to the park. I'm going to the company."

You saw how the little girl's smile fell as Kenma's words sink in her mind before she slowly lowered her head.

"Just go without me," Kenma said.

Suki slid down her chair before she looked up at Kenma and you saw her eyes glossy with tears.

"I hate you, daddy," she said. "Suki hates daddy!" she yelled before she run off to her room, and you heard the door being slammed, leaving you standing there with Kenma who doesn't seem faze at all at what his daughter said and did.

"Kenma," you said while he's fixing his tie. "You shouldn't have said it like that."

Kenma suddenly stop before he looked at you. "What else should I say then? In the end I still can't go."

"Well yes, but you should have explained it to her more than just saying it so plainly like that. Didn't you see she was crying?"

He proceeded to fix his tie again, or at least he tried to fix it again but for some reason it just got tangled. He gave up after a few attempts before he looked at you but he didn't say anything, while you looked back at him and your gaze landed on his tie before you averted your eyes back at him.

"I'll tie it for you but you'll have to talk to Suki afterwards," you said.

Kenma debated his answer before he looked at the clock to see that he still have some time left to spare if he take his other car and speed through Tokyo.

He sighed and nodded his head as you walked up to him and stood in front, taking the tie and untangling it and then proceeded to tie it. You were so focused in tying it that you didn't feel Kenma's gaze on you right away. Only when you were almost finished tying his tie did you feel it.

"How did you learn how to fix a tie?" he suddenly asked and the moment he spoke you heard his voice much closer than you think.

"I was just curious," you muttered. It's not like you learned it purposely to fix your future boyfriend or husband's tie like this. But thinking about it apparently made your face heat up and you quickly finished tying it.

You weren't looking up so you didn't see Kenma's hand that was about to brush the strand of your hair away from your face. He had lifted his hand and was about to touch the strand of your hair but you quickly took a step back and Kenma's hand froze.

"Curious, huh?" he said, looking at his tie that was perfectly tied before he put his hand down and looked back up. "Alright, I'll talk to her."

He walked towards Suki's bedroom, with you following close behind and Kenma knocked a few times before he turned the knob, thankful that it wasn't locked this time, otherwise he would have to spend a few minutes convincing the little girl to unlock it.

Kenma walked inside and saw Suki on her bed, her face buried on her pillows. "Suki," he called.

At the sound of his voice Suki moved slightly before she rolled on her side and sat up, her head still lowered and her hair falling curtain on the side of her face. When Kenma sat on her bed, he lifted his hand and brush the little girl's hair behind her ears.

"Sorry, I can't go with you and Y/n," he said. "I'm just really busy today."

"Busy?" the little girl muttered. "But it's Saturday."

"When you're a grown-up, you need to go to work even on Saturdays," he said. "And it's not just a simple work, it's our Company. I just need to fix some problems and then go back home."

"Then mommy and Suki will just wait for daddy to get home then..." the little girl sniffed before she continued. "...then we can all go to the park."

"I might get back late," Kenma said. "Since I wouldn't be able to go with you, I'll buy you a new game."

Of course he'll say that, you should have expected it since it's Kenma. He could have just console the little girl with comforting words yet he really need to console her with material things.

"You want that newly released VR headset for your new VR game, right?"

"You'll buy that for me, daddy?" she asked, finally looking up.

"Of course," Kenma said, lifting his hand to wipe the unshed tears on the little girl's cheeks before he pat her head. "I'll buy it for you so forgive me for not being able to come with you and Y/n today. Go have fun without me."

The little girl's smile slowly vanished again and she looked down. "But daddy, it wouldn't be fun without you."

"Then how about this," you said, making Kenma and Suki look at you. "Suki and mommy can go out today, then when daddy bought that newly released VR headset, we can all play VR games together."

"I like that!" Suki said, her smile coming back to light up her face.

Seeing that Suki is now smiling and she doesn't seem to be upset anymore, Kenma outstretched his arms and Suki leaned towards him and engulfed him in a hug before Kenma stood up. You followed him outside as he took his coat and key fob but before he can open the front door, he stopped.

"Ah, do you have money?" he asked.

"What? Of course."

"Use this," he said, taking out a card from his wallet.

"I have money though."

"It's alright, the money in there is kept for Suki. Don't waste your money, Y/n."

Now that you remember it, you did get your pay check from Kenma and you needed to give half of it to your parents. Taking the card, you watched as Kenma left and you stood there for a while before you turned around and headed back to Suki's room.

You helped her get ready and afterwards, you headed out as well, taking Kenma's other car for convenience. Suki said it would be more fun to save the Ueno Park Family date next time when Kenma is not busy so instead of going to Taito, you two headed to Minato to eat at a famous buffet restaurant in Roppongi Hills.

The rest of the day was well-spent and when the night is about to fall, you drove back to the apartment complex. You decided to carry the little girl as you headed to the lift and when the elevator dinged open, Suki said she can walk on her own and she doesn't want you to get tired carrying her. So when you put her down and the elevator door opened, she run up ahead.

"Suki-chan, don't run, you might trip," you said, walking after her. You unlocked the door and helped Suki get her coat off before she took her shoes.

When you were taking your shoes off, you saw Kenma's shoes on the side.

"Kenma's already home?" you muttered.

But it wasn't just Kenma's shoes, you also noticed someone else's shoes. And you know the shoes belong to a woman. For some reason, when you think about Kenma going home with a woman, you didn't know why you felt that particular thing.

As if your heart clench for a second. Until you heard Suki's voice.

"Daddy, we're home!" she yelled and you headed to the living room. The closer you walk the more you can smell the scent of miso soup and you felt your stomach growl.

"Daddy," Suki said again and when you got to the living room, you expected to see Kenma with a beautiful woman cooking in the kitchen.

You were right though. He's with a beautiful woman who is cooking in the kitchen.

Only she wasn't the kind of woman you expected.

"Grandma!"

"What? Grandma?"
