Suki had gotten all better the very next day, when you came to check on her the next morning, you found her already up saying that she doesn't feel sick anymore. Of course you were a bit unconvinced so you checked her temperature and realized that she is indeed all better now.

She was even able to run out of her room and to the kitchen where her breakfast was waiting for her together with Kenma who is already sitting on the table.

"You're way too cheerful today," he said, putting the tablet down on the table before he took his mug of coffee while Suki climbed up her chair.

"Of course daddy, Suki doesn't have fever anymore because I drank my medicine."

"Right, Suki-chan did a good job," you said, sitting on the chair beside the little girl while Kenma lifted his hand and touched Suki's forehead to check her temperature. The gesture made you smile for some reason, knowing that despite Kenma's constant remarks to Suki, he does care for her, perhaps even much more than you think he does.

"Shouldn't you stay home for another day?" Kenma asked, retrieving his hand back to his side.

"But daddy, I want to go to school."

"Still, shouldn't you at least rest for another day?"

"But I'd feel more sick if I just stay in my room the whole day," Suki said, clearly doesn't like losing to her dad in arguments like that. "Besides, daddy today is Friday. There's no school tomorrow."

"Exactly, since it's Friday, you can skip today's class."

"No!"

Usually you thought, it's the parent who would tell their kids not to skip school but for Suki and Kenma it's the other way around. You just started to eat while listening to them arguing about it until you heard Kenma spoke.

"What do you think, Y/n?" he asked and you quickly looked up at him to see that he's already looking at you as well as Suki who looks at you eagerly as if she knew you'll take her side no matter what.

"What I think..." you trailed off, looking at the two before you chuckled lowly and cleared your throat. "I think your daddy's right when he said Suki-chan needs to rest for another day."

You look at Suki to see her lips in a pout and her head lowered down and Kenma looked at her as if thinking, no that won't work on you.

At least until you continued, looking up at Kenma.

"But I think it's also fine for Suki-chan to go to school today. She might miss a lot of lessons and activities at school and staying home will make her feel more sickly," you said and when Suki heard it, she lifted her head and looked at you before she turned to Kenma.

"See, daddy. Mommy said I can go to school."

"But Suki-chan," you started and she turned back to look at you. "Promise me you wouldn't strain yourself. If you get sick again," you leaned towards her, hand on the side of your mouth before you whispered. "Daddy might get mad at me for letting you go to school when you should be resting at home."

"Don't worry mommy," she whispered back. "Daddy wouldn't get mad at you, he likes you more than you think."

"What?" you asked, leaning back. But before you can comprehend what the little girl said, she took your hand and entwined your pinkies.

"I promise I wouldn't strain myself at school," she said and you chuckled lightly at her little gesture before Suki turned to Kenma. "Daddy," she lifted her hand and Kenma looked at it.

"What do you want me to do?" he asked.

"She wants you to make pinky promise," you said.

"Promise Suki you and mommy will have fun while Suki's gone to school."

Kenma didn't say anything as he lifted his hand as well and wrapped his pinky around the little girl's pinky and sealed it with a promise.

An hour later, you were alone with Kenma in the living room and Suki's words echoed in your mind.

"I bet you're thinking that you should have agreed with me not to send her off to school today," Kenma said, breaking the silence that's starting to get a little awkward between you two.

It's not that it's exactly what you're thinking, but in a sense you were just about to arrive at that conclusion. That perhaps you should have let Suki stay at home since tomorrow is the start of weekend anyways. That reminds you of the surprise you told Suki yesterday.

That on weekend, you three will go on a family date at Ueno Park.

"Kenma," you started, turning to him as he lowered his phone and looked at you. "Are you free tomorrow?"

"Why?" he asked.

"Let's go on a..." you trailed off, averting your gaze to the side and in a voice lower than earlier you continued. "...family date tomorrow."

"Family date?" Kenma asked and you nodded. "Again?"

"Well, I kind of told Suki that if she drinks her medicine we'll go on a picnic at Ueno Park."

"Picnic," Kenma repeated in a mutter before he stood up. "I'll think about it."

"You'll think?"

"In the meantime, why don't we do something fun today?" he suddenly asked, turning around to look at you and your eyebrows furrowed slightly. "I did promise Suki you and I will have fun."

"Fun?"

You should have known that when Kenma said the word fun, this is exactly what he meant. You've been living with them for quite some time now and yet you had no idea this room even existed. It's like a room built to resemble an arcade.

You guess money can do anything after all. And he has lots to spare.

"I don't know what your idea of fun is," Kenma started, sitting on a gaming chair beside you. "But this is fun to me. We can do your idea of fun later."

"No, it's fine," you said, shaking your head. "This is fun too."

"Very well then," Kenma looked back in front of the monitor screen and you took the controller. "But just so you know, you're up to kodzuken, I won't go easy on you."

He didn't even go easy on his own kid last time.

Minutes turned into hours and time passed by in a blur. While you were playing with Kenma, you learned two things.

First, you know he isn't entirely a confident person, and that he prefers being unnoticed and often blends in the crowd, but when it comes to videogame he can be overconfident and zealous. But it's not like he's the type to be all bark with no bite to back it up. He is indeed good at videogames, hence he wouldn't earn that much recognition virtually if he isn't that good.

The second thing you learn about him today is that Kenma is much more good looking when he smile and laugh. You didn't know if it's because he's doing his idea of fun or that he's enjoying himself, but for the first time you heard him laugh and had seen his smile that he rarely ever shows.

It was in the middle of playing that you couldn't help but tear your gaze from the screen to look at Kenma and just admire him smiling like that while he's having fun. It feels so surreal seeing him smile like that when he's often stoic and indifferent about things.

And you know seeing him like that would last only for a fleeting moment in time. But perhaps you were so caught up with it that you didn't notice Kenma had turned his head to look at you.

"Five," he suddenly said and you almost flinched, blinking your eyes and shaking your head before you composed yourself.

"Five?" you asked, furrowing your eyebrows.

"That's the number of times you've lost in this game."

"Oh," you muttered, looking back at the screen to see the words game over flashing in front. "You were just too good at it."

There was a moment of stillness that linger between you and Kenma before you heard him sigh and he put the controller on the side, leaning his head on the headrest for a while and closing his eyes. The smile he had earlier while he was playing had vanished and you already missed that side of him even though he showed it quite fleetingly.

"Are you tired, Kenma?" you asked before you muttered, "We've been playing for hours already."

"Tired?" Kenma opened his eyes and glanced at you, his head still leaning on the headrest and the uplift of the side of his lips made it look as though he's smirking. "I can go all night, Y/n."

You didn't know if it was the slightest upturn of his lips in a lopsided smile or his words that had the tip of your ears heat up and a rush of blood going up to your cheeks.

"I'm a pro gamer, remember?" he said, standing up and you blinked your eyes, shaking your head before you stood up as well and followed Kenma outside.

He headed to the kitchen and took out a carton of strawberry milk that you were pretty sure belongs to Suki while you took a glass of cold water, gulping it down to suit your throat. When you turned around, you saw Kenma sitting on the stool, straw between his teeth.

You almost flinched when Kenma's phone started to ring and he looked down on it.

"I'll go pick Suki up," he said, throwing the empty carton of milk in the trash bin before he left.

While you stood there for a moment, your hand going up to your chest and you felt your heart beating a little too fast than normal.

It didn't take long until the little girl came running inside the living room and you greeted Suki with a hug as she buried her face on your chest before she looked up.

"Mommy, did daddy do his promise to Suki?" she asked and for a second you thought about what promise it was until you realized it's the promise that you and Kenma should have fun while Suki's gone to school.

"Of course," you said. "We had lots of fun playing videogames."

"Did daddy show his gaming room?" she asked, her eyes seem to spark in eagerness as you nodded.

"We did my idea of fun," Kenma suddenly said and you and Suki looked at him. "So let's do your idea of fun this time."

"Mommy's idea of fun?" Suki asked, looking back at you with her head tilted slightly to the side before Kenma continued.

"The family date," he said. "Let's go tomorrow."

Who knew Kenma knows that if you have any idea of fun, it would be spending quality time with Suki and perhaps with Kenma too.
