THESE LAST FEW weeks have been great. Skye was doing good in school, her and Soda were as happy as ever, and Skye had even started spending more time with her mom now that she was sober.

She had been sober for a months now and Skye couldn't have been prouder. She talked to her mom about her parents and how she put their killers in jail.

For the first time in years, her mom told her she was proud of her. She even apologized for everything that she did, although Skye wasn't going to forgive and forget that easily but she was going to try and leave that all in the past.

Her mom was healthy and happy now, just like she was before her husband died. Skye finally got her old mom back and she couldn't have been happier.

She wasn't going to get her hopes up though, just because her mom was sober now didn't mean that she would be in the future.

She could go back to drinking at any second, so Skye was going to cherish every moment she spent with her mom, just in case things got bad again.

Her mom began questioning her about Soda and about her relationship with him. She even wanted Skye to invite him over for dinner but Skye quickly denied it.

Having Soda over for dinner would be a horrible idea, she wasn't embarrassed of him, obviously. She just didn't want him to sit there and listen to her mom tell embarrassing stories of her.

Skye promised that one day they could all have dinner together but that they just weren't ready for that just yet.

Her mom thought it would be a good idea to have a girls day and go shopping. She used to take Skye shopping all the time so of course Skye said yes.

So there they were, in the little clothing's shop searching through the racks.

"I'm glad we're doing this, I know it's been a while since we've done this but thank you for agreeing to join me," Skye's mom said.

Skye smiled, "I wasn't going to pass this up, you know how much I like shopping,"

Her mom chuckled, "Yeah which is why I brought you here, I guessed you needed more clothes after months of using the money you earned on the house and stuff,"

Skye frowned, "Yeah..."

"How are you going to afford these clothes? You have no money," Skye said, "I have some saved up, while I was out partying and stuff I did a little side jobs bartending in some bars for extra money, I didn't always spend all of it and I was actually smart enough to save it," her mom explained.

"Yeah well you obviously weren't smart enough to use it for something useful," Skye mumbled.

Her mom frowned but stayed quiet knowing she was right. Skye had every right to be angry, she had been a shitty mother and a horrible person, she deserved whatever she got.

But she really was trying to be better, for herself and for Skye. She had spent years being a bad mother to Skye and not being there for her when she needed her. Skye needed a mother and she was going to try her best to be that for her.

After finishing up in the little shop, they left the store with a few pieces of clothing. Then, they stopped by at the diner where Skye used to work at and they ate lunch.

Cami was a little confused at first but Skye promised to explain it all to her later.

After spending half the day with her mom, Skye walked down to the Curtis house. Her pace got slower when she heard shouting coming from inside the house.

Steve and Two-Bit were on the porch, listening in. "What's going on?" She asked the two boys.

"Pony and Darry are going at it," Two-Bit answered.

"What?"

"Darry kicked us out ten minutes ago and they've been at it since, Soda's in there trying to calm them down but it isn't much help," Steve explained.

Skye glanced at the door and back at Steve, "If Soda can't stop them then I will."

She walked into the house and there she found Pony and Darry screaming at each other in the living room. Soda stood aside trying his best to get them to stop but neither of them would listen.

"Hey!"

None of them noticed she was there so she screamed louder, "HEY!"

Everyone stopped yelling and looked at her, "What the hell is going on here?!" She shouted.

She looked at Darry and Pony, awaiting an answer but both of them just stood there, both angry and stubborn as hell.

"What is going on?" She asked more calmly, again, neither of them said a word.

She turned to Pony, "Pony?"

He did nothing but glare at the floor.

"Darry?"

Darry also said nothing.

Skye let out an annoyed sigh, "Will you two stop acting like children and tell me what you're arguing about?"

Pony glanced up at Darry, "Why don't you ask him?" He grumbled and walked away towards his room.

"Don't you walk away from me!" Darry shouted after Pony as Pony slammed the door shut. Darry tried going after him but Skye stopped him.

"Back up Darry." She demanded, Darry let out a huff and did as told, "Now what the hell happened?"

"The damn kid doesn't know how to listen, he always has to go against everything I say!" Darry shouted making sure Pony could hear him.

"Okay, well what exactly did Pony say or do?" Skye asked, before Darry could answer the bedroom door swung open.

"Nothing! I did nothing! You want to know what happened? I get one bad test score and he goes crazy! Acting like it's the end of damn word or something!" Pony waved his hands in the air as he yelled.

"Do you know how much one bad test score can affect your grade? A lot! I'm just trying to make sure you make it through school and graduate." Darry said.

"It wasn't even a real test! It was just to see what you know, I didn't fail anything!" Pony shouted. He was only getting angrier by the second, Skye could tell by how white his knuckles were getting.

"He overreacts about every little thing, even when I'm not doing anything wrong he always has to pick on me for no reason! Right Soda?"

Skye looked at Soda who hadn't said a word since she showed up, he didn't say anything and just kept his head down.

Skye frowned and she looked at the two brothers, "Okay, this is getting super annoying, Darry you can't be too tough on him, he's only a kid he still has many more years ahead of him so give him a break would ya?"

"And Pony, Darry loves you, even if he doesn't show or say it often he does love you and only wants whats best for you, he works so hard to make sure you and Soda have a future so you both need to give each other a break and quit picking on each other, alright?"

Both boys glanced at each other and nodded.

"Good."

Skye walked over to Soda and she grabbed his hand, "You okay?"

He only nodded.

"Soda."

He looked her in the eyes.

She pecked his lips which brought a smile to his face, "Better?" She asked and he smiled.

"Much better."

Things are starting to get a little heated between Pony and Darry, hmm... Just to let you guys know, I'm not following the whole outsiders book/movie storyline. I really don't want to kill anyone off so this is just it's own story:)
