"SKYE!"

"Ugh what?" Skye groaned into her pillow, "Wake up you got chores to do." her mother said walking into her room.

Skye groaned and just laid there as her mom left the room, "Hurry up!" She shouted. "Give me a sec!" Skye shouted back annoyed and tired, she looked up at her alarm clock to see that it was seven-thirty.

Skye let out a sigh flopping her face back into the pillow. After a few minutes she finally got the energy to get up, she got out of bed very slowly.

She walked into the kitchen and saw her mom drinking her coffee, "Why the hell are you making me do chores at seven in the fucking morning?" Skye grumbled rubbing her eyes.

"Watch your language." her mom said not looking up from the newspaper. Skye rolled her eyes making faces at her mom as she headed towards the sink.

"And hurry up and finish your chores, I got a friend coming over," her mom said getting up from the table and putting her cup in the sink for Skye to wash.

"A friend? Since when do you have friends?" Skye questioned as her mom went to her room.

"Shut up and get to work."

Skye chuckled to herself and began washing the dishes. A few minutes later Skye was finished with her chores, all she had to do was take out the trash.

There was a knock on the door and Skye was about to open it when her mom pushed her out of the way. Her mom had on too much makeup, a mini skirt, and a pink blouse with very tall pink high heels.

She opened the door to reveal a man who looked like he was in his forties. He was old, a little too old.

"Hi, George," her mom grinned, "Hey, Jennifer," George said and Jennifer let him in.

"George, meet my daughter, Skye." Jennifer said motioning to Skye who was looking at her mother like she was insane.

"Hello, Skye." George said grabbing her hand and shaking it, eyeing her down. Skye gave him a disgusted look and pulled her hand away from him.

"Hey."

"Come on let's sit." Jennifer said and they sat down on the couch. Skye went to her room slipping her sandals on, she grabbed the trash bag and she walked out of the house.

Right as she threw away the trash, she saw Soda walking down the sidewalk towards her. She rolled her eyes and began walking away.

"Skye wait!" Soda called out jogging up to her, Skye stopped and looked at him.

"What?"

"Can we talk?" Soda asked her a bit out of breath, "You can talk, I'll listen." Skye said crossing her arms.

"I'm sorry about last night, I'm sorry for yelling at you, I was just worried ya know, I thought something bad had happened to you. But I know that you can take care of yourself and you proved that last night," Soda said.

Skye looked down and sighed, "No I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left like that, I should've told one of you at least but I obviously wasn't thinking," Skye said.

Soda smiled, "Hey, thanks for saving my life." he said poking her arm a bit and she chuckled.

"Well I wasn't going to let you die." Skye said and Soda chuckled.

"Friends?" Skye said sticking her pinky out, Soda looked down at her pinky and grinned.

"Friends." he said intertwining their pinkies together. They let go and Skye crossed her arms, "So, how's Sandy?" Skye asked him.

"Sandy? She's fine, why?" Soda questioned, "I don't know, it's just she seemed a bit...off last night," Skye said.

"Off?"

"Yeah, after I stumbled upon you two making out, she came and found me and she looked pissed. She started yelling at me and telling me to stay away from you," Skye said and Soda looked up.

"She thought I liked you." Skye chuckled.

"What?"

"I know it's crazy, but she just said a bunch of rude things that didn't sit right with me. I tried my hardest to contain myself, I don't do very well with confrontation, especially when it's about things like that. So that's why I left, because I needed air," Skye said.

"I decided to go home though, since I was already feeling a bit drunk and dizzy, so I left before I did anything I'd regret." Skye explained.

"I can't believe Sandy said that," Soda said, "I'm probably just overreacting, she was probably just drunk or something," Skye said trying to shrug it off.

"Maybe, I mean Sandy would never say that," Soda said and Skye nodded.

"I'm sorry about her, I'll talk to her don't worry," Soda said.

"Yeah okay." Skye nodded, "Well I better go, I have to get to work," Soda said taking a few steps back.

"Work? On a Sunday?"

"Yeah, we were supposed to have the day off but an emergency came up and the boss called us in," Soda said.

"Oh that sucks," Skye winced and Soda nodded, "Yeah well at least we'll get paid extra," he said and Skye chuckled.

"Alright, well see ya later!" Skye said waving him off, "Yeah, bye!" Soda shouted running off the opposite direction.

Skye went back inside the house only to find her mother and George making out on the couch. Skye gave them a disgusted look and rushed to her room.

She picked out her outfit for the day which included a simple rock t-shirt with her black and white flannel, and some shorts and her black high top converse.

She put on her necklace, the necklace that her mother gave to her.

Her real mother.

She's had it since she was a kid and she doesn't let anyone touch it, afraid that she'll lose it.

She put on a few of her bracelets that she had made, after fixing her hair and brushing her teeth and putting on some light makeup, she grabbed her backpack and climbed out the window.

She shut the window and she began her walk towards the Curtis home.

On her way to the house she could hear shouting from a house across the street. She stopped walking and her eyes roamed the street in search of the house.

Her head shot towards a house right across from her, a boy ran out of the house and he tripped on his way out and he fell onto the grass.

As the boy fell, a women came out of the house broom in hand. She looked angry and she was swinging the broom at him trying to hit him.

The women stumbled down the stairs and Skye focused her attention on the boy, that's when she recognized him.

"Johnny." she mumbled her eyes wide, she ran across the street not bothering to check for any cars.

"Hey!" She shouted, she threw her backpack onto the sidewalk and she ran in front of Johnny as the women was about to hit him with the broom.

Skye grabbed the broom preventing the women from hitting Johnny with it. The women's eyes widened at the new and strange girl.

"What the hell are you doing?!" She shouted trying to pull the broom away from Skye's grip.

"Johnny, is this your mom?" Skye asked him and she looked back over her shoulder to see him nod. She looked back at his mom her eyes narrowed, "So your the mother," Skye said.

"Some mother you are." Skye scoffed and Johnny's mom looked at her offended. "You know, instead of hitting your son you should talk to him, I heard that works a lot better," Skye said.

"Don't you tell me how to raise my son!" Johnny's mom said angrily. "Well somebody should, I mean look at him," Skye said and Johnny's mom averted her eyes to Johnny who sat on the grass, terrified.

"He's terrified!" Skye shouted and his mom looked back at Skye, "Good! He should be, maybe that'll teach him to man up!" She shouted and Skye looked at her in disbelief.

"You're a horrible mother." Skye spat out and this made Johnny's mom even angrier. She tugged on the broom harder which made Skye almost lose her grip, but she managed to hang on.

"Johnny, boy, you better get up and get your ass in the house." His mom said and Johnny looked at her wide-eyed and then at Skye who looked back at him.

"Don't do it Johnny." Skye said, "Johnny don't listen to her, I am your mother and you shall listen to me!" His mom shouted.

"No Johnny, you shall not!" Skye shouted mocking his mom, his mom looked at Skye, glaring at her.

Skye smirked at her an idea coming to her, "Johnny," Skye said and Johnny looked at her.

"Get up." she said and Johnny looked at her warily and Skye gave him a reassuring nod. He got up slowly and Skye looked to the side to keep an eye on both his mom and him.

"Run." she said and Johnny did as told, Johnny's mom began screaming for him to come back but he kept on running.

Skye turned back to the pathetic women in front of her, she pulled the broom away from her and she put it up to her knee breaking it in half.

She threw the broom aside and looked back at the women, "Sorry 'bout your broom, it was old anyways though so just think of it as a favor." Skye said giving the women a sarcastic smile.

"You little-"

Skye made a run for it grabbing her backpack off the sidewalk and running off across the street, laughing as Johnny's mom cursed at her.

Skye caught up with Johnny and she slipped her backpack back on, she wrapped her arm around his shoulder out of breath.

"Oh, that was fun," she said.

She looked at Johnny who had his hands stuffed in his Jean jacket. "You okay?" She asked him and he shrugged.

"Your mom's a bitch." she said looking away from him and Johnny chuckled a bit.

They walked the rest of the way to Pony's house in silence. They walked into the house and Skye threw her backpack aside and flopped onto the couch next to Pony.

"Sup horse boy," she joked ruffling his hair, Pony swatted her hand away smiling.

"Hey Skye,"

"Hey Johnny," he greeted the both of them and Johnny gave him a little wave sitting down on the other couch.

"I met his mom, what a charmer she is." Skye said sarcastically and Pony looked over at Johnny.

"She hit you again?" He asked him and Johnny just looked down on response, Ponyboy sighed shaking his head.

"She would've hit him if I wasn't there, but good thing I showed up before she could do anything," Skye said.

"Was she mad?" Pony asked her and Skye nodded.

"Very."

"Where's Darry?" Skye asked looking around, "At work, as usual," Pony answered and Skye nodded.

"I heard about the fight you and Soda had last night, you two okay?" Pony asked Skye, a bit worried.

"Yeah were fine, he came to my house this morning and apologized," Skye said and Pony nodded.

"Hey uh, how well do you know Sandy?" Skye asked the both of them and they looked at her.

"I don't know, not that good I guess, why?" Pony asked, "Because she was being a real bitch last night." Skye said.

"Really? What'd she say?" Pony questioned, "She told me to stay away from Sodapop, she thinks I like him," Skye said getting up from the couch and going into the kitchen.

"And do you?"

"No, of course not, Soda's my friend, nothing more." Skye answered grabbing a coke from the fridge.

"You sure about that?" Pony asked and Skye walked back into the living room, "What is that supposed to mean?" She asked him.

"It means you like him, you just don't know it yet," Pony said and Skye scoffed.

"If I liked him I would know, so trust me when I say that I don't like Sodapop, I only like him as a friend and that's it." Skye said making her point.

"Alright fine, you keep telling yourself that," Ponyboy said crossing his arms. "All I'm saying is that you two would make a great couple." Pony said and Skye sat down looking at him.

She didn't say anything and she took a sip of her coke, thinking. A great couple?

Yeah right.

"Darry left a list of grocery's, wanna come get them with us?" Pony asked Skye referring to him and Johnny.

"Yeah sure." Skye said getting up and throwing her coke in the trash. They left the house locking it behind them and heading into town.

They got to the grocery store and they split up going to find the things they needed. Pony found Skye in the cookie isle, she had a cart with her, he walked over to her placing his things in the cart.

"We don't need cookies," Pony said and Skye looked at him, "Oh trust me, everyone needs cookies." Skye said and Pony chuckled shaking his head.

Skye placed the cookies in the cart and she looked up at Pony who was standing in front of the cart, his back turned the other way.

She smirked and she placed her hands on the handle and she pushed the cart forwards, hitting Pony in the back.

Pony stumbled forward a bit and he looked back at her a scowl on his face. Skye's smirk grew and she pushed the cart harder which caused Pony to fall back into the cart.

Skye laughed as she rolled the cart around the store with Pony in it. He kept shouting at her telling her to stop but she refused, Pony eventually left it alone deciding to just leave it be and have fun.

As Skye rolled the cart around the isles, Pony grabbed a bunch of things off the shelves. Like chips and other things that they needed.

They found Johnny by the freezers and fridges, he looked up and his eyes widened as he saw Pony in the cart with Skye pushing him.

"What are you two doing?" He asked them and they both laughed, "Having fun!" Skye exclaimed.

A few of the customers gave the kids a dirty look but not bothering to say anything.

Johnny set some groceries in the cart laughing to himself, "You guys are crazy,"

"Aw thanks Johnny." Skye gushed and Johnny smiled shaking his head.

"Alright let's go." Pony said and Skye rolled the cart towards the cash register, Johnny following behind them.

Pony got out of the cart before they got to the register so they wouldn't get in trouble. After paying for everything, they left the the grocery store with the bags in hand.

The boys offered to carry all the bags but Skye didn't let them, so they let her carry the lightest bag.

Skye stopped at her work to get some food for Steve and Soda, she was feeling generous at that moment and got them their favorite order and some dessert.

Pony and Johnny were waiting outside for Skye, "Alright, let's go." Skye said walking out of the diner. They walked to the DX only to find the place packed with girls.

They stopped in front of the DX and they looked at each other wide-eyed.

"Uh, so who wants to go first?" Skye chuckled nervously and no one said anything. Skye sighed and she walked in first, she was met with the sound of girls talking non stop and squealing.

Skye squeezed past some girls apologizing to them if she pushed them too hard or stepped on they're foot. She managed to make it to the register in one piece, she leaned against the counter basically throwing the food onto the counter.

"What the hell is going on?" She shouted to Soda, out of breath. "What do you think? Girl rush." Soda said, he was rather calm for the amount of girls that were in the gas station.

"How are you so calm?" Skye asked him in disbelief, "I'm used to it." Soda shrugged as he grabbed the bag of food going through it.

"This happens a lot?"

"Everyday."

Skye raised her eyebrows at him, she looked around the gas station at all the girls who were busy talking amongst themselves.

"Do you know why they're here?" Skye asked him and he nodded, "Yeah, for me."

"For you?" Skye asked and he nodded, she looked around again and then she got it.

"Oh, they like you," she said and Soda nodded.

"You don't seem to care, usually boys would brag about this type of thing?" Skye said and Soda shrugged as he grabbed his food.

He opened the box up to reveal his food, "Oh it's my order, thanks Skye." Soda smiled and she smiled back.

Skye was sent forward by a girl pushing her, she turned around annoyed.

"Can you move?" A girl said to Skye, rather rudely. "No, can you leave?" Skye responded and the girl glared at her.

Skye turned back around rolling her eyes, Soda was looking at her a smirk on his face.

"What?"

"Looks like they don't like you very much," Soda said and Skye shrugged, "So?"

Soda chuckled shaking his head as he bit into his burger. Skye was once again shoved against the counter and she whipped around, "Push me one more time and I'm going to throw your ass over this counter." Skye threatened the same girl that had pushed her the first time.

"Go ahead, Soda will catch me anyways," the girl said crossing her arms, a smug smirk on her face. Soda stopped halfway to biting his burger as he heard his name, he looked up at the girls.

Skye looked at Soda and smirked, "Oh, Soda? You guys are here for Soda right? Well I'm so sorry to tell you this but he's taken," Skye said a smile on her face.

"What?" Soda looked up talking with his mouth full. Skye reached out for his hand, he was a bit hesitant at first but he calmed down and cooperated.

"Yep, I'm taken." Soda said a fake smile on his face, the girls looked at the two in shock. They glared at Skye who was giving them a fake smile, they didn't say anything and they all just walked out.

Skye let out a sigh of relief rolling her eyes, she looked out the window to see Pony smirking at her.

Skye quickly let go of Soda's hand blushing slightly, "Well I better get going," Skye said about to walk out.

"Wait!"

Skye stopped and turned around, "Thanks...for that, and thanks for the food," Soda thanked her. Skye gave him a small smile.

"You're welcome, you owe me by the way." she said before walking out of the gas station.

Had some little cute moments here between Soda and Skye. We also had some more friendship development between Johnny and Skye AND Ponyboy and Skye. The gang wasn't in this chapter much but I'm going to work on more friendship developments between all the characters with Skye so yeah:)
