Barty's words from a few weeks ago were still ringing in Ophelia Potter's head. She couldn't stop thinking about what he said when they all went people watching at Hogsmeade.Β

'Everyone thinks about everyone like that.'

Though everyone else had forgotten all the details about that evening, Ophelia couldn't stop running through the conversation in her head. She thought that Barty couldn't possibly be right, since that would mean that people thought about her in that way.

That way.

The way she always knew people felt about other people, but never anticipated it making its way into her life so soon.Β

It was winter break, so she was home alone with just her family. It was good because she didn't have anyone bringing up that idea anymore, but on the other hand, everyone knows that solitude is no friend of a cycling mind.

Only a week into the break, and Ophelia's mind was already starting to circle. Trapped in her house with a family from which she became increasingly further apart. She felt like she couldn't talk to her family about her personal life, as they weren't exactly Regulus' number one fans.Β

Though it wasn't what she had planned,Β  Ophelia wanted to ask her brother for advice. He's around her age, and would probably give her the best advice out of everyone in her family.

After breakfast, she went over to her brother's room, and found James lying on his bed, reading a book. Reading a book that wasn't for school, such a curious thing for James.

She knocked on the door, even though it was open partially, just to announce her presence.

James noticed Ophelia, and sat up, putting his book down beside him on the pillow.

"Ophelia, hey." James said. "What's up?"

"James, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, yeah. Ask me whatever you want."

"Alright. You like Lily, right?"

"Yeah, of course I like her. Even more than justΒ like, actually."

"And she's just your friend, right? Like you aren't even dating."

"Not yet." James said with a determined yet playful tinge in his voice.Β

"Of course." Ophelia nodded, wanting to support her brother in this seemingly endless quest for the returned affection of Lily Evans. "Well, when did you start liking her?"

James looked at the ceiling and paused to think.

"It started around year three, so your age, maybe. Why do you ask?"

"I don't know. Just curious, I guess." Ophelia lied.Β

"Are people in your year starting to like each other?" James asked. "Are you starting to like anyone?"

"No, gross." Ophelia said. "I was just curious."

"Well, it's fine if you do like someone. I mean, as long as it's not a loser like those boys you hang out with all the time. Anyone else, I'll make fun of you, of course, but I'm fine with it."

"Goodbye, James." Ophelia said, walking out to the hall again.Β

Ophelia walked away, feeling no different from when she arrived. At least she knew for sure, though, that Barty was right and that people her age really do feel that way about each other.Β
