"Captain Embarrassed"

"Make sure you expand the log. You do that by moving the 2 outside the logarithm." Professor Williams said as she solved the problem on the board.

Shai let out a yawn, tossing his head back on the chair. He was tired like every student in his class. Which was saying something since his class was empty besides him and five other students. No one was here. The couple of parties that had taken place did a toll on them. It took a toll on Shai as well and he was hating it. He would've been in his room, but Axel pretty much forced him to go out. He didn't mind. He was enjoying himself.

"Do you know what amore mio mean?" Dess whispered since she was in her class. Herbert's class to be specific. She knew she shouldn't be on the phone, but she didn't care. They had to stick to their schedule.

Shai kept his head leaned back. His neck was starting to hurt, but he didn't care. He needed to sleep even if it was for a minute or two.

"It means my love in Italian." He answered lowly, so he didn't interrupt his professor. Dess poked her lip out and nodded her head, impressed.

"Wow. How'd you know?" she curiously asked. She was bored in class, so she was looking up how to say certain phrases in different languages. Amore mio sounded so sophisticated and sexy to her.

"I took Italian for a foreign language back in middle school. ¿Come stai, amore mio?" he asked in Italian. The accent sounded weird since he haven't spoken it since the seventh grade, but he tried his best to pronounce every word correctly.

"What does that mean?" Dess questioned with a smile on her face. She had a feeling it was something cute since he was the one saying it. Anything he said was cute.

"I asked how are you, my love? And you can answer by saying sto bene which is I'm doing fine. Or something like that." He answered. Lifting his head up, he put his attention on his phone and saw the huge grin that was on her face.

"I am doing fine now that you said that. The Italian language sounds amazing coming out your mouth." She told him, Shai chuckled.

"Other shit sounds nice coming out my mouth as well," Shai muttered, licking his lips. Dess hummed to herself, keeping her mouth shut.

Shai chuckled, putting his hood on his head. He lowered the hood so it was over his eyes and continued staring at the screen. It became a routine nearly. Shai admiring Dess while they were on the phone. They didn't have to talk all the time for the call to be entertaining. Sometimes Shai would just stare at her while she did her work. And vice versus. Either way it didn't matter. And when they did talk, their conversations were always interesting.

"So for the remainder of the class, you can take the time to study for our test tomorrow. Midterms grades are due soon, so we need to get started on that." Professor Williams told them. There was still time left in class and since there was barely anyone here, so she decided to cut her lesson short.

Shai saw this as an opportunity to sleep for the rest of class time. He had a midterm in Sports Management and needed as much rest that he could get before the fifty question test he was in for. He never realized how much he hated tests. He leaned his head back on the chair again, shutting his eyes.

"You still going to the library to study?" He asked, breaking the silence.

"Yes, I need to get at least two hours in each day and an hour before the actual test date." She answered, pushing her hair behind her ear. Shai loved that.

"You gon' let me study with you?" He asked. Dess tucked in her lips, which made Shai lift his head up.

"You not gon' answer?"

Dess shrugged, "Ion know, Shai. Remember what I told you, I don't play about my education. I don't want you to distract me." she told him and he nodded his head.

"I understand that, but I'm not going to distract you. I gotta study too, extra hard. Herbert does not fuck with me and I'm not trying to fail. So, can I come with you?" he asked again.

Not only did he really need to study, but he was trying to do something else as well. He was supposed to wait, but didn't want to anymore. Axel was going to have to deal with it.

"Sure, but if you do anything to disturb me then I won't talk to you like at all. Understood?"

"Inteso." he replied, giving her a smile.

"I'm being so serious, Shai. Do not mess with me and my studying." Dess informed him once again as they entered the library.

Shai hummed, putting his arm around her shoulder. Dess looked up at him and saw that he wasn't even paying attention. She shook her head, leaning it at that. After greeting the woman behind the desk, she led them to her favorite spot in the library. It was in the quiet section that was downstairs. Dess walked to the table she always sat at that was in the back. Shai took his arm from her, the both of them taking a seat.

Dess placed her bag on her table and took out her laptop and book. Shai did the same, taking his belongings out and placing them in front of him. After opening his laptop, he looked over it at Dess. She didn't waste any time getting started on her studying, opening her book that was filled with sticky notes.

"That a lot of notes." Shai mentioned, Dess looking at him. She glanced down at her book then back at him.

"I have a lot of thoughts and questions while reading." She replied, shrugging her shoulders.

"Make sense. That brain up there is running a mile a minute."

"Yup."

It fell silent between them. Dess got comfortable with her book wide open in her hand and reading everything she written down. Shai didn't have much to go on since he barely paid attention in Herbert's class. All he knew were the characters in the book and their problems. Nothing more. Nothing less. Studying wasn't on his mind anyway since he planned on asking Dess to homecoming.

He knew he made a deal with Axel to wait until the day before, but he couldn't. He needed to know now to help ease his mind. He knew exactly how he was going to ask too. Shai spent the last few days studying the romance expert Shakespeare. He knew that would be a way to get a girl's attention. Who doesn't love Shakespeare?

"Uhh, so..." he started. He waited for Dess to look up from her book, but she didn't. He tucked in his lips, figuring out a different approach.

He cleared his throat, making Dess look up. "You need help?" she asked.

"Yeah. I'm just wondering...shall thee wend to homecoming?" he stumbled over his words as he spoke in Shakespearean.

Dess stared at him with a neutral expression. She stayed like that for a minute or two before finally busting out laughing. She covered her mouth with her book, trying to muffle her laughter. Shai let out a chuckle, looking around nervously and embarrassingly. Dess continued laughing, trying to calm herself down.

She blew out a breath, chuckling afterward. "Shai...what the fuck was that?" she questioned.

"It's Shakespeare." he answered with a smile. "You know the dude who made Romeo and Juliet. That guy." he explained.

Dess nodded her head, "Yeah, I know. The dude is a terrible person and a pervert. Juliet is thirteen and Romeo is like twenty something. He's also weird too since all of his plays are about suicide." she told him, Shai tucked in his lips.

"Yeah, but...but it's romantic somewhat. A good way to ask someone to homecoming." Shai mentioned and Dess shook her head, laughing again.

"Not it isn't like at all. I really hope you're not asking me to homecoming like that cause that's embarrassing." she informed him, going back into her book. She chuckled again, shaking her head at the thought.

Shai opened his mouth to speak, but shut it quickly. "I wasn't asking you though." He lied, Dess glancing up at him.

"Oh," was all she said. She had to look away from him, going back to her book. She felt the vibe changing between the both of them and didn't like it.

"I was actually saying something because Axel was trying to find a way to ask Freya and he thought of Shakespeare." He continued lying to hide the embarrassment he was experiencing right now.

"Oh..." Dess slowly nodded her head. "Well then, if Axel is asking Freya then maybe it doesn't sound stupid. I don't really know though. It just didn't sound good coming out your mouth." she said.

"Yeah, I guess." Shai muttered. She lowered his head, slouching down in his seat.

Dess kept her head in her book, not able to look at him. All she wanted to do was study with no distractions. This was why she didn't want Shai coming with her in the first place. She glanced over at Shai. She wasn't able to see his face since his hood was pulled down. She only saw his mouth and that wasn't giving her much. She left it alone, going back to what she was doing.

She regretted having him here.

She regretted it badly.
