Vanessa couldn't sleep. She was too worried about the scan results. She knew she wasn't sick. She just had to be okay for her dad's sake. She knew that if she passed, her father would be devastated. So, her eyes stayed wide open.

An hour later, she heard a dripping sound. It was quiet at first but then grew. She rolled over to her side and pulled the pillow over her ear. But, no matter how much she squeezed at her head, the sound just wouldn't go away.

Vanessa couldn't take it anymore and practically stomped over to her bathroom that was connected to her room.

"What? What! Why won't you stop?" She said while slamming her hands on the edge of the sink.

"Do it again. Say it." she demanded, but the sink was silent. "Didn't think so." She walked away, but as soon as she got to the door, the sink dripped again. She scoffed angrily, but chose to ignore it. She went back to her bead where she heard more drips. She didn't know what was happening with her sink, but what she did know was that she wasn't getting any sleep tonight.

The sun shone through Vanessa's window, signaling that it was time for her to get out of bed. She was right, and she didn't get any sleep.

With a grunt, she flipped the covers off of her and sat up. She sat there for a couple of minutes, collecting herself but eventually got up and got dressed. She threw on a dirty green shirt she found on the floor and a pair of black sweatpants that had a stain on the thigh. She put her hair up into the messiest braids she had ever done and didn't even bother brushing her teeth. She didn't want to have to deal with the sink again.

The whole routine took her less than 10 minutes and after she was done, she headed towards the kitchen where here father was making breakfast.

"How'd you sleep pumpkin?" He asked while cracking an egg over a pan.

"Fine."

"Cupcake, don't lie. I was up all night too."

"You shouldn't be worrying about me, you know."

"I always worry about you. That's what parents do."

"I know, but really, I'm fine."

"Well, we'll get the call in a couple hours. Then we'll know for sure."

By the end of their conversation, the eggs were cooked. Shawn put them on a plate with bacon and fruit and passed the plate to Vanessa. He then made a plate for himself and set next to the girl.

He reached over and grabbed a strand of hair that was hanging over her face and moved it behind her ear. " I love you pumpkin."

"I love you too Mufasa."

"Yes, this is he." My dad said while on the phone, talking to Doctor Molina. We were on the couch, watching tv, when we got the call. I sat nervously on the cushion next to him. My leg was bouncing upย  and down with a fast pace.

"I want to let you know we've got some good news." My leg stopped bouncing and I looked up to my dad.

"The MRI came back normal and we've eliminated the possibility that you had a stroke or blood clot two things, that frankly, I was worried about. But, the results are all clear, that's what matters"

"Thank you Dr. Molina." My dad with a large smile on his face.

"You're welcome Mr. Hunter. Have a nice day."

"You too." My dad said, the. hung up. As soon as the call was over, he drooped the phone and tackled me into a bear hug.

"Oh, thank god. I don't no what I would do without my little cupcake." He said while keeping entrapped in a tight squeeze.

"I love you dad."

"I love you too angel."

We stayed there for a little while linger before I asked him if I could go call Lucas and tell him the news. He said yes and let go of me.

When I got in my room, I closed the door and locked it; something I never do. I couldn't let him see me cry. He's so happy that the scan came clear, but I wasn't. It made me even more afraid of what's happening to me. If the results came back clear, am I just imagining it? No, I have so much pain. Then what is it?

I rushed over to my bed and threw myself onto of it. I had so mang unanswered questions running through my mind, so I just laid there and just cried.
