I got up to check on my hotel. I took a quick shower I didn't even bother looking in the mirror.

I got out and put on some makeup to hide my scars. I did a natural look.

I put on my black spandex shorts with a oversized white shirt and my black Gucci slides.

I put my lashes on and grabbed my phone and purse before going downstairs.

I put my key in the ignition and drove to work. Dejuan owned a couple clubs and hotels. He gave 2 hotels to me and now I own 2 hotels.

I went to the hotel satisfied that everybody was here and the guest were eating breakfast. It wasn't early it was actually 11.

I talked to a couple workers then I got in my car.

I called to book an appointment with my favorite hair stylist. He fit me in I got a bayang. (If you don't live under a rock you know where I got Bayang from)

The bang hid my knot. You can see my forehead but you can't tell it's a knot. I was hungry so I headed to Chick-fil-A.

"Welcome to chick fil a. What would you like today?" The lady spoke.

"Can I got a chicken sandwich meal." I said "spicy or regular?" She said

"Regular." I said "drink and size?" She asked "large coke." I said she told me my total then I gave her the money then received my food.

I drove to McDonald's because i wanted a M&M McFlurry. I got a call from Sammy.

"Hey bitch." I answered "hey hoe. Wyd?" She said "just got some food about to get a McFlurry then go to the waterfall." I said

"Bitch get me one imma meet you there." She said "ok." I said as I got to the thingamajig.

"Oh yea Dejuan and Bands coming so get them something too. You know they like sprite too. I love you bye." She hung up

I rolled my eyes I ordered 2 M&M McFlurries , a 20 pcs and 2 Big Macs. I payed and drove to a gas station.

I bought Dejuan and bands a Sprite and water. They don't like McDonald's sprite.

I finally made it to the waterfall and saw Sammy car. I got the food then I went over there.

"Hey bae." I said "hey." Sammy and Dejuan said at the same time.

Awkwardest moment of my life.

"I was talking to her." I said "Aw man." Dejuan said making me laugh.

"You look good with a bang." She said hugging me. I hugged her back before setting the food down.

"So what are we chopped liver?" Bands said cause if me and Sammy to laugh. I hugged him and Dejuan before grabbing my food and sitting down.

"Damn you got both?" Dejuan sat by me. I nodded "this what Dj wanted." I shrugged biting my burger.

"Don't blame that on my lil nigga." He chuckled I rolled my eyes and smiled. I finished my burger and I started eating my McFlurry.

"Lemme get some." Dejuan big head ass said. I smacked my lips and mugged him.

"Hmm." I held my spoon to his mouth. He smiled and ate it. I started eating my nuggets and my fries.

"How tf you get all this and we only got 1 thing?" Bands dirty ass asked. "Y'all didn't ask for all this." I shrugged.

We sat and talked for a minute before they wanted to get in the water.

I took my shirt and shorts off.

"Why y'all ain't tell us about this before?" They asked "this basically where we met." Sammy said

Flashback

We were in 6th grade. I ran off the bus crying because these girls were talking about how my dad left because he hated me.

They didn't like me because of Tanisha. I saw these bushes so I went in and saw a beautiful waterfall. I sat down on a log and cried.

"I hate myself. I wish I would die." Little me said "no you don't. Never say that." Little Sammy said

"Yes I do." I said "why?" She asked "those girls are mean and my dad left because he hates me." I said

"It's ok. Hi my name's Samaiya but you can call me Sammy." She smiled "I'm Essence." I said

"You're the girl that's always with Chloe." She said chloe was a girl that was in 7th grade. We were good friends until she left for high school.

"My mom just got me some McDonald's you want some?" She put her fries on my face. I nodded taking one.

"Thanks." I smiled "you have braces like me." Sammy smiled big. I chuckled and nodded there began a friendship.

"So y'all casually was like there's a forest let me go in there. Omg theres a waterfall." Dejuan asked

"Not necessarily. I found it because I used to go to that park across the street and I saw it and wanted to see what was back here because the bushes are thin." Sammy said

"How you find it?" They asked me "she don't wanna talk about it." Sammy said

"You remember our conversation that day?" I asked her she nodded. "I was happy because you were the only other girl with braces." She laughed.

We all laughed. "How old was y'all?" They asked "like 12." We said in unison.

"Speaking of age Ess you about to be 20 mama." Sammy said I smiled. "Yea the 12th coming real fast." Dejuan said

"Maybe just sit in the house and eat ice cream." I shrugged getting out of the water.

"You so cheap." Sammy said "cause i don't wanna spend y'all money and I don't know what I want." I said

"How about we choose." Bands said "we all know your favorite thing to do." Dejuan said "oh yea what's that?" I asked

"Eat." They all said "that's not true." I gasped "yea it is." Sammy said "wow." I said cause it's true me and Dj love food.

"Ya see, it be Dj." I said "stop lying on my nephew. You liked food before you was pregnant." Sammy said

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes hearing my phone ringing. I answered knowing it was Monte.

I walked away but still by the waterfall because I'm in my undies.

"Hello." I said "where yo ugly hoe ass at?" He asked "with Sammy and them." I said

"Where yo purse?" He asked "in my car why?" I asked he hung up so I just walked back to the group.

"What happened?" They asked "nothing." I said "yesterday what I tell yo ass?" Dejuan mugged me "call you." I said looking down

"Look up." He said "sorry." I said looking up. "I told you call me. So why you ain't call?" He asked

"I ended up having a conversation with Monte." I said "I'm serious you better call me tonight." He said "ok." I said

We played around and talked for a minute.

"We about to jump." I heard Dejuan yell. They were at the top of the waterfall. "Wait!" I yelled but it was too late.

They jumped and it splashed all over my hair. My bang curled up

Ah shit

I got my stuff and got in my car. "I put my clothes back on and everybody came to my car.

I looked and saw that my knot was visible. So I rolled my windows up.

"Essy we sorry we messed yo hair up." Bands said "we really didn't mean to." Dejuan added

"It's fine." I said "no it's not." Dejuan tried to open my door but I locked it.

I heard my passenger door open. "Fuck." I said I looked down. "Look at me." he picked my head up.

"What tf happened to yo forehead?" He said "I-I fell." I stuttered "when? Where? That wasn't there yesterday." He said

"I tripped getting out of my car." I lied "stop lying Essence." He said getting madder. "How and when did you fall?" He asked

I can't keep it in. I have to say it.

"Monte punched me." I said

All I heard was Dejuan breathe heavy then I looked at him and his eyes were black.

"Dejuan calm down." I said grabbing his hand. He snatched away and got out the car.

He came back. "Wipe that makeup off." He said I looked at him before getting a makeup wipe.

"I don't th-" he cut me off. "Take it off!" He yelled. I flinched at his aggression "But I'm ugly under this makeup." I said his face softened.

"Essence you're not ugly. You the most beautiful woman I ever laid eyes on." He said "you don't understand." I felt my eyes water.

"Everything ain't meant to be understood, take it off." He said

I hesitated but then I wiped it off. Seeing my scars made me bust into tears. "We will meet y'all at Sammy house." I heard before hearing a car pull off.

Dejuan pulled me out the car. "How long he been doing this?" He asked "like 2 months." I said

"Come on we going to yo house." He said I got in and started the car. "Can you just chill." I said he shook his head.

"Essence look at yo face mama. No woman deserve that." He said shaking his head.

"Don't do nothing crazy." I said finally pulling off. "I can't promise." He said I shook my head knowing he was not listening to me at all.

I unlocked the door with my keys and see Monte fucking a girl.

"So this what you do while I'm gone?!" I yelled "you can't do it so." He said nonchalantly "fuck that y'all doing it on my couch." I said

"I payed 1,375.79 for that couch." I pouted. I saw Dejuan crazy ass pull his gun out. "Put that up." I whisper in his ear.

"Aye!" Dejuan said catching his attention. "Who tf is you?" He said pulling his pants on.

"Her baby daddy." Dejuan said getting in his face. "you a bitch ass nigga." Monte said

"Ma'am can you please exit." Dejuan looked at the girl. She got her stuff and left. "Essence go pack yo shit." He looked at me.

"You know you ain't goin-" He got cut off be Dejuan punching him. "You wanna hit her, hit me punk ass nigga. You a pussy on crip. I will end yo fucking life." Dejuan said

I went upstairs to get my stuff. I heard yelling and all types of noises.

I finished getting all my stuff and went downstairs hearing a couple gun shots.

"Bitch ass wasn't on nothing." I heard Dejuan say. I rushed down stairs also moving slowly so I don't fall.

I saw he had a bullet wound in his arm. I looked down to see Monte with a gunshot in his forehead and 2 in his chest.

Seeing that made me sick and I threw up. I grabbed like 4 shoe bags and put them in the car. I went back in to get the rest.

"Fuck them clothes I will buy you more." He said grabbing my hand. We walked out the house and he lit it on fire.

"Ah shit! Man my arm." He hissed "I gotta take you to the hospital." I said looking at it.

"Nah they gone ask too many questions. You gotta take it out." He said

"So you forgot I'm pregnant and seeing that makes me sick." I said "you went to school for this you didn't pay tuition for no reason." He said

"Ok you got a first aid kit?" I asked he nodded I drove to his house. We got out and went upstairs.

I got the first aid from his closet and we went in the bathroom.

"This about to hurt a lot." I said he looked at me with a dumb face. "Do I look like I care?" He asked I shook my head

He sat on the toilet and I got some gloves then the tweezers. I started feeling for it the when I felt it I tried to pull it.

"Fuck!" He yelled in pain. I stopped because I don't wanna see him hurt. "Come on. Keep pulling." He said "but it hurt." I said "I don't care." He said

So I started pulling again. He hissed in pain. Until I pulled it out all the way.

"You good?" I asked he nodded he was all sweaty and his veins were popping out. I put the bullet on the napkin. I put alcohol on a cotton ball and wiped the blood off.

I stitched it up and wrapped it with a ACE wrap. "Thank you mama." He said "you welcome." I said taking the gloves off and putting everything back.

He hugged me from behind and rubbed my stomach.

"Can I take a shower?" I asked he nodded "imma get something for you to wear." He walked out

I got in and washed really good I stayed in for a while longer thinking and singing along to songs.

I got out wrapping the towel around my body. Of course since I don't have a bonnet my hair is wet.

I went in his room seeing him playing 2k. And he had a pair of boxers and a black shirt for me.

I put on some lotion before I put the clothes on. I went into the bathroom so I can twist my hair so it don't get nappy.

I came out and he was still playing. I went and sat on his lap.

"Watch out." He said I laid my head on his shoulder he wrapped his arms around so he can keep playing.

"Even with my girl on my lap I'm still kicking y'all asses." He said. I laid here scrolling on Instagram

"And one!" He yelled making me jump. "My bad mamas." He said "man you fucking suck. Shitty ass nigga. Pass the fucking ball Stevie." He said I looked at him then looked back down

"Ask yo bitch how my dick taste." He said making me mug him. "That weak ass game is not that serious." I said

"Yes it is." He said I got up and got in the bed "I'm sorry mamas." He said "bands pass that bitch. This the winning point." He said

I folded my arms looking at him. Punk ass game stealing my baby daddy.

"Green!" He yelled making me jump again. "Oh shit my bad babygirl." He said looking at me. "Fuck you." I said "imma hop on with y'all tomorrow." He said

"No you not Imma break that bitch tonight." I said "come again say what?" He looked at me "imma break that weak ass game." I said

"No you not." He said going into the bathroom. Then I heard water "his ass think I'm playing." I chuckled to myself. I took his game outside.

Imma wait so he can see. I might buy him a ps5 if he deserve it. I sat on the poolside eating a popsicle.

His neighbor came out. "Did you just move in there?" She asked I shook my head. "Oh I could've sworn a young man lived there." She said

"Oh yea he does." I said "aw you're expecting." She smiled I nodded "ohh you and that young man are together." She said "it's complicated." I said hearing him coming downstairs.

"Mamas what you doing by the pool?" He asked I looked at him. "If you come closer your game going bye bye." I said

I heard the neighbor gasp "you won't." He said "you sure?" I questioned. He nodded just for me to drop it.

"Oh my gosh." The neighbor said "mind yo business." He said "hey don't talk to my friend like that apologize." I said

"Get me a new game and I will." He said "I promise now apologize." I slapped his head. "I'm sorry ma'am." He said "young couples I love to see it." She said he smiled wrapping his arm around me.

I got some fruit snacks and went upstairs to lay down.

"I can't believe you did that." He said "well believe it cause I did and I can do it again." I said being petty.

He mugged me and laid on my chest.
