I didn't remember anything when I woke up, the last thing I recalled was talking to Scott, Stiles and Sophie after Sophie howled through the school intercom.

I remember being angry at her because if anyone was gonna bring the alpha out, it would be her. And that was what I was afraid of, the alpha wants her more than Scott because she's his Zeta.

I remember hoping and praying she hadn't gave into the temptation and joined him. I was able to work up enough strength to get to a stairwell to hopefully get to Sophie before collapsing unable to go any further.

She found me sometime later and carried me out to the school, I fell unconscious again as she worked her way to my car. As I was coming too again I could tell I was in a car, it was my car. The sound was familiar enough I could tell that much.

I was in too much pain to move and I need to heal but but it's taking me longer than usual to since the wound was inflicted from the Alpha. I looked around, it was my car and I was in the passenger seat.

I looked to the driver seat to see Sophie driving, she looked stressed, or like she was scared and didn't know what she was doing. "Please tell me you have your licenses."

She looked over to me relieved, "you're awake. You scared me, one minute you was talking and then you was heavier than before." She sighed moving her focus back to the road. "And yes, I have my licenses just not much experience in fast cars."

That's comforting, I looked to the speed dominator. She was only going 30 miles an hour. I let out a weak laugh, it hurt when I laughed. I looked down to my blood stained shirt, I was still bleeding just not as bad as before. I was healing slowly but faster now that I'm conscious.

"Where are we going?" I questioned as she shrugged, "I have no idea, I've been trying to stay close to the school incase Scott or someone needed us. They're supposed to let me know when the cops get there and they get out safely."

I remembered our conversation before I blacked out again, I think that was the only time in my whole life that I've joked in a serious situation. I don't know if it was from the amount of pain I was in or if I was just so out of I couldn't think straight so I said whatever came to mind.

"Are you healing any?" I nodded lifting my shirt up revealing the hole where the alpha had stuck his hand literally through me. That was the painful thing I've ever experienced, physically at least.

A phone binged, she looked down. "We are all safe." Sophie read off a text from her phone. She let out a sigh of relief, as she turned down the road that led to my house.

She now had this expression on her face like she had something weighing on her, like she had to tell me something but she was scared of how I would react.

"Whats wrong?" I questioned as she looked to me confused, "what do you mean?" She focused back on the road, "you have this look, like you need to tell me something but you're scared too." She sighed.

"You're right and I'm actually terrified to tell you." She admitted as I nodded slowly, "you can tell me." I spoke reassuring her, it can't be anything bad. I hadn't been unconscious long since being in the car.

What could have happened between me falling back unconscious to me waking up?

"Scott," she paused as she hesitated, "what did he do?" I questioned as she sighed, "while I was distracting the Alpha so they could get away he kinda," she cleared her throat, "Told them something."

I nodded slowly, I was beginning to grow impatient. "Spit out." I demanded as she groaned, "he told Allison, Lydia and Jackson it was you chasing them and trying to kill them." Well, I was definitely not expecting that.

"And this whole time i have been driving I've been trying to come with a reason why he would and I couldn't and then it led me to thinking what if she tells her dad or even worse her aunt who we already knows is out to get you." She rambled as I faced forward speechless.

Why would he do that? He knows who and what Allison's family is, and surely he knows they know about me so why would he tell them I was trying to kill them? I thought he was on our side. I thought he was helping us.

"I've also came to the conclusion that this is all my fault," I cut her off from continuing, "none of this is your fault." I demanded as she looked to me surprised. "It's my fault. I should have never involved you or Scott."

"What else would have you of done? I mean I am his Zeta, and also i realized tonight he's scared of me. We were fighting and then boom I began to smell fear and he was running the other direction. I'm stronger than him when I'm in wolf form, I also need your help-" I cut her off shaking my head, "okay, I get it." I was annoyed. I didn't mean to snap at her and it obviously surprised her by the hurt look on her face.

"I'm sorry, I'm just, I need to think. None of this is your fault and I just need to think of how I'm going to get the Argents off my back when they come for me." She nodded slowly focusing on the road.

I looked to her, i surprised her and I hurt her by snapping at her. "How'd you transition without the full moon?" She shrugged, "I'm not sure. When I saw him literally use your insides to pick you up something just snapped in me and I felt like I needed to protect you. It was weird, It felt like it was just instinct to protect you." I nodded slowly, huh that's is weird.

He instinct is supposed to be to protect him, so why didn't she feel the need to protect him? Maybe because he was attacking us and he wasn't in danger? I'll have to look into that.

"Also I've came to the conclusion that you were right, Deaton is the Alpha. He disappeared seconds before the alpha appeared so what other explanation is there?" I nodded,

"okay, did he have a familiar scent? Like Deatons that you could tell when you were fighting him?" She shook her head, "no but there was some kind of familiarity to him, like I've met him or knew him so that's good right?" I nodded.

That's proof Deaton had to be the alpha, who else does Sophie know that could be the alpha? No one that I know of, Deaton is the only person. Unless she's met someone recently who she doesn't actually know but would be familiar with because they have met.

No, it has to be Deaton. He disappeared minutes before the alpha appeared, that's enough proof for me. It should be for anyone.

"I also discovered to have clothes on stand by if I'm going to transition to fight," I looked over to her, i realized she had on an old leather jacket that I had totally forgot was in my trunk and a pair of sweatpants that I don't recognize.

"I borrowed your jacket, hope you don't mind." I shook my head awkwardly facing back forward keeping my eyes on the road, "nope, keep it." I looked to her, "it looks better on than it ever did on me." She smiled as her cheeks turned lightly pink.

Making her blush brought me an unfamiliar kind of joy. Maybe it was just joy, or maybe it was love kind of joy. Apart of me hoped it was love because then that meant I could actually love still.

But the other part of me was hoping it wasn't because I don't know if I could love her right now. Not when my focus is on other things, more important things. Like killing the alpha, not just for me but for her.

And I want to protect her from the darkness that surrounds me, the even darker shadow that surround me when I become the alpha. Because I know best that you can't love someone while in darkness.

Some might even say you can't love in the dark.

Hello friends!! Sorry for the late update but it is a double update!! (This chapter and the next one (28)) some things came up so I wasn't able to update Monday or yesterday which I apologize for, and I hate to do this but this will be the last update for a little bit!! I know for sure through this weekend but I'm still not sure about next week any!
