I had no idea what I was getting myself into, first I agreed to not only help Derek teach Scott how to use his abilities when I also have no idea how to use mine. Then I agreed to sniff out the alpha after already knowing he's gonna call me out to kill with him.

Things can't get worse than this, I mean I've already killed someone and I feel oddly fine. Well I guess as fine as someone with a conscious can feel after finding out they killed someone while being a wolf.

This is all confusing, a 17 year old shouldn't have to go through this sort of thing. Hell I didn't even werewolf's existed until I became one, I have no idea what I'm doing and I have to figure all this out while also juggling school?

That's a lot of stress to put on a teenager. And I'm even more stressed because I feel like Derek is depending on me to find the alpha. He said I can't sniff him out when he's human because he could have an entirely different scent.

The full moon I'm at my strongest and that's when my senses are also at there strongest, but that's also the night the alpha is relying on me to find him and kill with him and we know I can't control myself on full moons.

I don't know what to do, but I'm honestly not worried about that right now. I am failing three out of my 7 classes and it's only the second week of sophomore year so my main focus is this parent teacher conference tonight.

I walked into school early because I was determined to get my grades up or I was off the cheer team and repeating sophomore year. I wouldn't mind being kicked off the cheer team, it would save me from quitting.

But I also feel like I can't quit, it's been my personality since the first day of freshman year. Even though i've been skipping practice every day since the first day of school, I still feel some love for it.

I walked over to my locker opening it, I grabbed my books for my first few classes out stuffing them into my backpack. "Sophie!" I looked up to see Allison skipping over to me with excitement radiating off of her.

I could only imagine what this is gonna be about. She stopped in front of me, "hey." I spoke casually pretending like this isn't gonna be the most awkward conversation ever. The last time i talked to Allison was the other day when I told her she shouldn't hangout with my brother.

"So, me and Lydia were talking that we should have a girls night tonight at my house and we both really want you to come!" Allison said excitedly, she must have asked her about what I told her about how me and Lydia aren't friends anymore and want us to make up. Not gonna happen until she dumps Jackson.

"Uh, I don't think I can. I have cheer stuff and my mom is freaking out because I failed that chemistry test so." I shrugged looking to her apologetically, she gave me a puppy dog look before sighing.

"Look, Lydia said herself that she really wants to hangout with you. She said It's been so long since you've had a girls night together and plus you've never had another girl to join you." She seemed genuine and like she was telling the truth.

"And Lydia is also not really feeling good since you know the whole murder thing at the dvd store last night." She reminded me as I sighed continuing to think.

And that doesn't sound like a Lydia thing to say. I also don't know if me and Lydia would ever be able to go back to how we used to be. And I definitely can't get there with Allison for obvious reasons, and do I really want to go to her house, where her hunter dad lives? And probably stores his guns in his garage or basement?

If I say or do the wrong thing I could get myself put on his radar as a werewolf and that's the last thing I'm trying to do right now. Not only would Derek be pissed but Scott would also be because that would also put him on their radar of suspicion.

I sighed, from Allison's puppy dog eyes and the raging quit eating at my conscious I knew she wouldn't back down and my conscious would eat at me for days if I don't agree. I nodded agreeing, "fine, I'll be there but I have the parent teacher conference after cheer so I'll just drive with you from there?"

She nodded as she smiled cheerfully, "yes, my dad is coming tonight so that's perfect!" Her dad? She can't drive? Omg she's only 15? I nodded quickly agreeing. She looked past me, then back to me "okay, perfect I'll see you both tonight."

She rushed away, I turned watching as she walked over to Scott excitedly. Yeah I need to talk to Derek if I'm gonna spend the night in the hunters house. Oh he's gonna kill me for even agreeing to this stupid sleepover.

I turned walking away from Lydia toward the exit, so what if I miss first and second period? it's Friday, no one ever gives out much work on Friday. I thought to myself as I walked out of the school.

I needed some advice about my abilities or whatever before spending the night at the werewolf hunters house. Why did I even agree? I should have stuck to my word about never talking to Lydia again and having cheer and homework. Derek is so gonna kill me.

I arrived to Derek's house, I had to walk because I walked to school today. Walking clears my head and I needed to clear my head extra today. I stoped outside as my phone rang.

It was Stiles, he was probably looking for me and wondering why I wasn't in school, I slid my finger across the screen answering the call. "Stiles, I'm fine, I just need to Derek and then I'll be back in time for third period." I reassured him as he huffed on the other side, "what are you talking about? You aren't in school either?"

"What? Why aren't you in school?" I questioned confused as he sighed, "I went to check on Lydia and she's not good, Soph. She saw the alpha kill someone last night and get this, she caught on camera." I was officially more confused then ever, "how did she catch it on camera?"

I heard some shuffling on the other end before he began speaking again, "I don't know but I just sent you the pic. It's insane." He exclaimed as I pulled the phone away from my ear as the text message came through.

I clicked on it opening the image. The image was a close of picture of a very big dog like figure big with red eyes. That's the alpha. He looks scary. "Wow, that's creepy." He sighed faintly on the other line, "yeah." He spoke faintly as I placed the phone back to my ear.

"Okay, so now we know what he looks like in his wolf form." That means we're one step closer to finding him hopefully. "Yeah, also maybe you should stop by and talk to Lydia. She's going through it right and maybe you can help." I scoffed, "yeah, I'm seeing her tonight. I have a slumber party at Allison's house."

"What? What about her dad?" He questioned concerned as I sighed, "that's why I'm talking to Derek. Maybe he can help me not transform if I get too irritated because I can't back out now." He let out a stressed breath, "okay, I gotta get ahold of Scott to get him this picture. I'll talk to you later."

"Yeah, me too." I hung the phone up just as my earring focused on the voices inside. I looked up confused listening, "just the steady beat of the cold heart truth." It was a female's voice. Why would a female be in there with Derek?

"Found bite marks on your sisters body, Derek. What do you think did that? A mountain lion?" She chuckled, she was teasing him. Then I remembered when he got shot, Scott said it was a she. What if the girl inside right now is the girl who shot him?

I can't go in. Then I'll be caught and I'll be no help to Derek, I hid behind the tree I was standing beside continuing to listen in, "You might as well admit what you've been guessing all along which is, the alpha killed your sister. And all you have to do is tell us who he is and we'll take care of it for you. Problem solved, everybody goes home happy."

She seemed genuine but you never trust a hunter. Derek taught me that, no matter who they are or what they say, you never trust them. Derek's breathing began to pick up. "Unless you don't know who he is either." She scoffed and let out a laugh, "wow. Guess who just became totally useless?"

There was a shuffling then Derek appeared as he sprinted out of his house. He stopped swiftly when he spotted me, "run!" He spoke low but urgent. He took off past me as I looked toward the house confused.

I left no time for the hunters to see me as I turned running after Derek as fast as I ever had. I slowed down once I noticed Derek was, I was out of breath by the time we fully stopped. I leaned against a tree to catch my breath, "please say this running thing gets easier." He looked to me annoyed and frustrated,

"what the hell were you doing there? Why aren't you in school?" His voice was filled with anger, I looked up to him confused, "I was coming to talk to you. I had no idea she was there until I heard her talking." I stated innocently.

He sighed shaking his head, "you can't just show up at my house like that. I need a warning because of the fact that they know where I live. You can't be put on their radar." He shouted frustrated, i nodded confused and hurt by his tone as I watched him pace, "okay, I'm sorry." I apologized in a soft voice.

He sighed turning to face me his expression apologetic as he shook his head, "no, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled I was just, frustrated." I nodded, "I heard what she said. About your sister. Is it true? The alpha killed her and not them?" I questioned as he shrugged, "I don't know but she wasn't lying about anything she said. I heard her heart beat the whole time."

"What do we do now?" He sighed, "get as far away from these woods as possible until they leave." He turned beginning to walk, I followed behind. I realized he had no shirt on, and the tattoo on the top of his back.

It's some type of symbol, "what does that mean?" He looked over his shoulder to me confused, "what's what?" I pointed to his back, "the tattoo? What's it mean?" He faced back forward, "alpha, beta, omega. It's a mantra we use. We repeat it, and focus on the words until we feel control coming back."

"Like the day we fought, you told me to repeat them and it helped me." He nodded, "exactly." I smiled nodding, "like meditation?" He nodded as I walked faster catching up to him now walking beside him. "Each spiral means something, Alpha, Beta, Omega. It represents the idea that we can always rise to one and fall back to another."

Interesting. "So what do you want to talk about?" I looked up confused, "what do you mean?" He turned to me, "you said you originally came her to talk to me about something." Oh yeah that thing. I shook my head, "it can wait."

If things get too bad I'll use the alpha beta omega technique. It worked once, it can work again. "So, can I use those words to not you know not go wolf on full moons?" He chuckled shrugging, "not this soon probably. It takes practice." I nodded.

My problem can wait, if things start to go south I'll leave before I lose control. And I have the alpha beta omega technique, if Derek uses it it has to work and we know it's worked for me before when I was long away from control.

Tonight will be fun, besides the fact i have to spend it with my ex best friend and with my new bestie who father is the hunter and her aunt is in town who I'm pretty sure just terrorized Derek after shooting him and almost killing him.

This is gonna be a lot more complicated than I expected.
