fluff/angst: tutor jenna x m!reader

You were sat in the library, scratching your head in frustration as you grunted heavily. You dropped your pencil down on your notebook and leaned back in your chair.

"This is so fuckin' annoyinggg..." You groaned out, as you looked over at your now girlfriend, Jenna, who only rolled her eyes in irritation at you.

"The only thing that's annoying, is how slow you're going. At this pace, we're gonna be stuck in this library until midnight." She responded, her eyes glancing up at you.

"Well I'm sorry not everyone can be as fast as you. I'm trying my best, here." You sat back up in your chair, grabbing your pencil once again.

"Well, it's not good enough. If you want to get back up to a passing grade before April, I suggest that you try harder." Jenna ordered, as she crossed her arms and scooted closer to you.

You looked over at the shorter girl in confusion, your eyes locking with hers.

"...What's in April..?"

Jenna began to hesitate before answering, unsure of how you would respond to her.

"...Prom."

Your eyebrows furrowed as you tilted your head, being lost in thought.

"...Why do I have to get my grades up by then?"

"Because if you're not passing by then, then you can't go to prom."

"Why do you care if I go to prom?"

Jenna looked at you offendedly, her doe eyes slowly turned into rage.

"Uh, last time I checked, I'm your girlfriend?? What if I wanna go to prom??" Jenna asked, placing her hand on her chest as she spoke. Her slightly freckled face began to heat up in embarrassment as she kept her angered glance on you.

"I know you think that I'm some sort of book geek who never goes out, but... You're my boyfriend for fucks sake, and my first boyfriend at that! Maybe I wanna have a real date to a school dance for once in my life!" Jenna ranted to you, as you sarcastically nodded through her whole dialogue.

"...Unpopular opinion, but proms are so fucking overrated. What? We get to prom and we can't even listen to cuss words in music?? 'Best night of my life' my ass." You shot back at her, as she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms again.

You looked over at Jenna, her anger slowly turned into disappointment, as she sat back in her chair, sighing heavily through her nose.

"...So, you tryna get something to eat after school? I'm hungry." You asked, but you were soon ignored as Jenna kept her eyes affixed onto the table in front of the two of you.

You took notice in her tantrum as she continued to give you the silent treatment. Even though you really hated school dances, you couldn't bear to see your girlfriend upset.

You grunted heavily as you pinched the bridge of your nose, while you scooted your chair closer to the table. You grabbed your pencil, and nudged her on the side with your elbow.

"...Can you help me with this problem?" You uttered, as she glanced over at you.

"Why do you all of the sudden care about your grades again?" She pouted, giving you an annoyed stare.

"Well, I don't but... If I wanna take my girlfriend to prom, I guess I'll have to." You responded, looking down at your textbook.

Jenna quickly wrapped her arms around you and celebrated her victory, squeezing you tightly and giggling as she did so.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!! It'll be so much fun, I promise!" She cheered, as you chuckled throughout the embrace.

After a few seconds, the brunette haired girl finally let you go, as she quickly changed her tone after getting a few stares from other students in the library. She then turned back to you, as she grabbed your face and turned it towards her.

"I also expect you to properly ask me out to prom. This doesn't count." She stared you down as you slowly nodded.

"So you mean like... Ask you in public or some shit..?" You asked, as she nodded in conferment.

"...Knowing you, I feel like you're gonna reject me in front of everybody just to embarrass the living shit outta me."

"Well, now that you put it in my mind..."

Jenna devilishly smirked at you, as you gulped in fear, turning to your textbook to continue your tutoring session.

"Jenna, I don't know if it's gonna be able to fit inside..."

"Oh my god, Y/n, just shove it in there! Stop making everything so fucking complicated!"

You pushed the small piece of paper in the eraser slot of your mechanical pencil, finally managing to place it in there.

You sighed in relief as you turned to Jenna, who was watching you struggle the whole time.

"...Are you even sure you're a man? You had such a hard time doing that, I'm genuinely worried for your future, Y/n." Jenna retorted, placing her hand on your shoulder.

"If I have a nagging girlfriend like you for the rest of my life, I think I'll be just fine." You shot back at her, as she punched your shoulder for revenge.

"Now, you remember the plan, right?" She asked, as you nodded intently.

"Only use the cheat sheet when I'm having trouble... Got it." You repeated what the brunette haired girl told you earlier.

You were both standing a few feet away outside from your algebra class, getting ready for today's test.

You managed to pull your grade up from a 29 to a 68 in a matter of a few weeks thanks to Jenna's tutoring.

However, your life depended on passing this test. If you don't pass this test, you won't be able to go to prom, and Jenna would most likely murder you out of anger.

"And I mean, only when you're having trouble, okay? Don't immediately pull it out when you get your test." She ordered as you nodded, shoving the pencil in your pocket.

"Now, let's go. You got this, okay?" Jenna gave you a comforting smile, as she stood on her toes, giving you a peck on the cheek.

You could feel beads of sweat slowly appearing on your forehead, as you were struggling with a question midway through the test. You looked up and over at the front of the room, where Jenna was sitting in the front row.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Lee had changed the desk arrangements for when you took tests, to avoid anyone looking off of someone or cheating.

You tried your best to not look at the cheat sheet as much as you could, but you began to fold under pressure.

"...Fuck this, I'm pulling it out."

You pulled the eraser off the top of your pencil as you slipped out the small rolled up piece of paper out of it's shell. You looked around, and saw Mrs. Lee still sitting at her desk, typing away on her computer.

You frantically unrolled the small piece of paper, as your anxiety began to slowly fade from now being saved by the paper that Jenna gave you.

However, once you unrolled it, you began to look in confusion as the test answers weren't on the paper, instead, it was a written message from Jenna.

"Stop trying to take shortcuts, dumbass. I love you."

You became flustered from that last sentence, but quickly recovered as you looked back up at Jenna, who was still taking her test.

Even though you weren't given the answers, you were still encouraged by Jenna's insulting yet heartfelt note, as you began to put all of your focus back on your test.

"If I don't pass this test... Then I'm the worst boyfriend ever."

It was the day after, as Mrs. Lee had begun handing back out the graded tests. You and Jenna were both on the edge of your seats, as the teacher began to make her way towards you.

She handed the classmate in front of you their test, and began to walk up to you.

Mrs. Lee stopped in her tracks to look down at you, your anxious eyes were locked with hers as she pulled out your test from the stack of papers in her hand.

She placed the test upfront on your desk, as she placed her hand gently on your shoulder.

"...Good job, Y/n."

Your eyes quickly darted at your grade, as they quickly widened in surprise. Jenna peered over you shoulder as she looked at you with surprise as well.

You had managed to score an 81 out of 100, making this your highest test grade so far ever since Jenna started tutoring you.

You quickly jumped out of your seat, and threw your hands up in the air, your right hand holding a strong grip on your test.

"LET'S FUCKING GOOO!!!!"

You stood there in victory for a few seconds before you realized where you were as you took a glance around the room, everyone awkwardly stared at you, and began to burst out laughing, including Jenna.

"Language, Y/n... But for the special occasion, I'll let it slide just this once." Mrs. Lee chuckled from your reaction as your face quickly turned red.

You sat back down in your seat, as you turned to Jenna, who was still recovering from your outburst. As she calmed her laughter down, she looked over at you and gave you a wide smile.

"I told you, you could do it. Look's like you didn't need that 'cheat sheet' after all." She congratulated you, as you smiled back at her.

It was now lunchtime, as you and your friend, Kaden, were standing outside of the cafeteria.

"Man, I don't know if I can do this..." You nervously informed the taller male, as he pat you on the back.

"Bro, you got this. Isn't she your girlfriend? She's bound to say yes." He encouraged you, as you clutched the sign in your hands.

"I mean, yeah she is but... I don't know..." You responded, as you looked down at your poster,

"Does this seem like, cheesy to you?" You asked, nodding your head down at your poster in your hands.

Kaden chuckled as he looked down at your poster.

"Well, yeah, but... Girls like that. Look, just stop being a bitch and go!" He swiftly handed you your bouquet of violet flowers and pushed you towards the entrance to the cafeteria, as you looked around at the crowded room.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck..." You cursed to yourself as you scanned the room.

You finally found Jenna, as she was sitting and eating with some friends from student council. You took a deep breath as you began to stride towards her table.

Jenna took a quick notice as she peered her head and looked at you, smirking with excitement as she watched you walk up to her. You clutched the flowers tightly in your hand as you gave her a nervous smile.

Everyone in the cafeteria began to glue their eyes on you, as they began to converse and shout in excitement.

You stopped in front of the table as Jenna stood up from her seat, standing in front of you. Phones began to appear, as the cameras began to record the two of you.

"...So uhh... Like the sign says... Can I... Go to prom with the most beautiful thing in the world..?" You asked, as you held out the bouquet of flowers towards the shorter girl.

Jenna only stood there and placed her hand on her chin, acting as if she was lost in thought.

"Hmmm, I don't know... Unpopular opinion, but proms are so fucking overrated, right?" Jenna responded, quoting what you said to her the other day in the library.

You had a feeling Jenna would take this opportunity to public humiliate you, as your eye slightly began to twitch in annoyance.

Jenna began to chuckle from your reaction as she walked up to you and grabbed the bouquet of flowers from your hand.

"But because it's you, of course I'll go to prom with you, Y/n."

You and Jenna embraced as the cafeteria began to roar in applauses and shouts. You smiled to yourself after getting over an obstacle that seemed to be impossible to break through.

It was now the night of prom, as you were walking up to Jenna's front door. You sighed anxiously as you lifted your hand, and pressed the doorbell on the side of the door. You took a step back as you quickly adjusted your formal tie, and straightening your blazer.

If you were honest with yourself, you were not ready for tonight. You didn't lie when you said that proms were overrated, you hated school dances, and always thought they were a big waste of time.

Why go to prom with all the students that annoy you when you could be in the luxury of your own home?

"This is so stupid..." You thought to yourself as you waited for the door to open. After a few more seconds the door opened, and you saw Jenna's mom, who smiled as she greeted you.

"Oh woww, don't you look handsome, Y/n!" She greeted, as you nervously chuckled.

"Oh, thank you, ma'am." You responded, nodding your head at the older woman as she stepped to the side.

"Please, come in. Jenna'll be down in a minute." She welcomed you inside, as you walked in.

"I wish you could've met her father, but unfortunately he's working late tonight. He was very anticipated to meet you." Mrs. Ortega stated, as you internally sighed in relief.

"Thank god..."

You both were seated in the living room, as you were talking about how much Jenna has helped you with your academics, and how much she means to you.

After a couple minutes, you began to hear footsteps coming from up the stairs. Both of your glances turned to the staircase, as you saw Jenna, who was slowly approaching her way down the stairs.

You took a long look at her appearance, admiring her alluring presence. Jenna was wearing a two piece bright blue dress, as her hair was flowing down her right shoulder.

You quickly stood up as you approached her, completely left in awe by how elegant she appeared in front of you.

"U-Uh..."

Jenna stood in front of you as she tilted her head to the side, frowning while looking up at you.

" 'Uhh' what?" She mocked you, as you slightly shook your head to snap back to reality.

"You look... Absolutely amazing, Jenna." You complemented her, as she looked at you up and down at your appearance.

You were wearing an all black suit with the blazer unbuttoned, it was more of a slim fit, as it was wrapped nicely around your body. Kaden helped you pick it out since you had no sense of fashion when it came to formal wear.

You were honestly planning on wearing a clown outfit just for shits and giggles, but you knew Jenna would kill you if she saw you wearing that.

"You look so beautiful, Jenna! You're a lucky man, Y/n, to be going with such a beautiful girl! Here you two get close so I can take your picture!" Mrs. Ortega stated, as she pulled out her phone.

"Momm, please..." Jenna groaned, as you stood next to each other. You wrapped your arm around Jenna's waist, pulling her closer as both of you smiled for the picture.

You and Jenna had entered through the back doors of the gymnasium, other prom attendees were following behind and leading in front of the two of you.

You and Jenna were holding hands as she peered her head over to the photo booth that was at the entrance of the gym.

"C'mon, let's get out picture taken!" She stated in excitement, as she lead you over to the line, pulling your arm.

"This is so lame." You bluntly stated, as Jenna slapped your chest.

"Shut up and smile!" She replied, as she stood in front of the camera. You walked up and hugged her from behind as you both posed for the camera.

After taking your photo, you and Jenna grabbed a copy each as you headed out to the dance floor. The music was blaring, playing some generic pop song as people danced throughout the gym floor.

You began to slowly become more and more annoyed by the obnoxious atmosphere around you, as you went over to the bleachers and sat down.

Jenna followed behind you, as she stood in front of you while you were seated.

"What the hell is your problem? We're finally here, and you act like this is the worst thing to ever happen to you." Jenna argued, as she crossed her arms.

"Because, it is. I told you I hate proms, and dances. I'm only here because of you." You argued back, as you leaned back in the bleachers.

"So you're saying you don't wanna be here with me?" She shot back, as you rolled your eyes.

"Let's just chill, okay? I'm here now and you got what you wanted." You annoyingly commented, as Jenna scoffed at your nonchalant response.

"All I asked was for one thing. One thing, and that was just to spend prom with you. And you can't even do that for me... You're so fucking unbelievable." Jenna spat at you, as you continued your gaze forward at the dancing crowd ahead of you. You could feel the anger bottle up inside of you as you began to become more frustrated by everything around you.

"Then just fucking go! Stop nagging me and just fuck off somewhere!" You shouted, as Jenna stood back, surprised by your outburst.

Your eyes quickly widened at what you said, you immediately wanted to apologize, but you fell silent as Jenna looked at you with hurt in her eyes. Her dark brown eyes began to fill up with tears, as she stormed off, leaving you alone on the bleachers.

You felt a pit in your stomach as you sat there, wallowing in anxiousness from your previous actions. You didn't know what you were so upset, it just felt like everything was too much of a hassle for you.

You always hated formal settings, dances, homecomings, proms, you never went to a single one up until this point. You were completely out your comfort zone, and it wasn't a good feeling.

But what was an even worse feeling, was hurting Jenna like that.

You wanted to take it all back, but you sat there for a few more minutes, thinking about your next move going forward.

Arguing with Jenna was obviously nothing knew, both of you were quite stubborn to say the least. Even though most of times you still thought you were right, you still put your pride to the side in order to make up with Jenna, telling you how wrong you were.

To be honest, as toxic as it sounds, you loved the way that the two of you bickered and argued. Hearing the brunette haired girl say how much of a dumbass you were, was like music to your ears.

You continued to sit in the bleachers before finally getting up, straightening your black tie as you began to walk to the food court outside of the
