I felt a strange high the next few weeks. I was going to school again, I had my friends back, and was spending a majority of my days with Sadie. It made me a bit uneasy knowing that things were going so well for me. I ignored the constant nagging in my head telling me it was only a matter of time.

Scout was now dating Lizzy and she had become part of our small friend group. I was glad they were dating it made me feel less guilty about being with Sadie as selfish as that was.

"What are you doing after school?" Finn asked while he aimlessly flipped through a text book. We sat in the library for our study hall.

"I have to work tonight. Why?" I respond keeping my eyes down on my notebook. I had a big math test coming up and with all my absences I was going to fail the semester if I didn't A's it.

He didn't respond to my question I didn't care enough to question him any further so I continued with my task. My eyes lingered up across the room where Sadie was sitting with a couple of her cheer friends she was wearing her cheer uniform for the home football game later tonight.

Finn sighs loudly and put his circular sunglasses on while throwing his head back dramatically.I continued to ignore him knowing he wanted me to ask him what was wrong.

I scribbled some equations down on my paper trying my best to figure out the notes Carmen had lent me. Frustration began to take over as my hand gripped my pencil. I hated math I had spent way too many nights crying over it.

"There's a halloween party tonight..." He trails off tapping his fingers on the desk as if they were drums.

"Why are you being so fucking cryptic?" I snap annoyed at his jumpy behavior. He looks over at me with a sarcastic chuckle.

"Well I kinda asked Carmen to go with me. But I need you to come with us." He once again shifts around in his chair. He was now laying his head on the desk giving me a cheeky smile.

I roll my eyes at his demand. Taking care of a drunk Finn was certainly not how I wanted to spend my friday night. Yet, curiosity got the better of me hearing that he had asked Carmen to go with him. I didn't understand why he needed me there. I questioned why he needed my presence especially on a date.

"Um, well, Scout kinda told me Carmen was off limits." I cut him off by scuffing and turning back to my work. The last thing I wanted was to get involved making things between Scout and I worse. Plus, with Finn's bad dating habits things were sure to end badly.

"Maybe you should stay away from her." Carmen was my friend I didn't want Finn to ruin that.

"If you come he'll think we're all just hanging out." He pleas. I really wasn't in the mood so I stand up and make my way towards the door but of course Finn followed close behind.

I started to run beating him to the door and close it in his face. He didn't try opening the door again so I continued on towards the main entrance of the school. Right when I step out the dismissal bell rings sending floods of teenagers racing towards the door.

The store was empty besides the boy doing inventory. He had just started working and from the little we had talked he seemed cool. Very quiet and pretty respectful.

It was nearly 10 pm and I had finished cleaning the floors and lounging area. My shift was over at 9, but I felt bad leaving him all the work so I just stayed to help out.

"I'm off. Have a nice weekend." I announce as he packs up his things.

"Want me to walk you home? It's pretty dark." He adjusts his backpack over his shoulders. I look out the windows out over the dimly lit streets. I contemplated whether I should accept his offer or if I should just make a run for it. There was also a small possibility that this boy was more dangerous than a dark empty street.

He saw the hesitation on my face making his eyes grow wide.

"I'm not like a serial killer or anything." He panics.

"I feel like that's exactly what a serial killer would say."  I point out making his tense body relax a bit. He had caught the humor in my tone.

"But i'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I hope it's not too much of a bother though." I hold the door open for him trying to make up for how nervous I had made him.

"None at all." He shakes his head. I had never gotten a good look at him before. He had tan skin and curly, dark brown hair. He was a much taller than me and his features were soft.

We walked in awkward silence and the mist of the light drizzle made my shoes squeaky.

"The weather's nice." He says with his hands in his pockets and his head looking up towards the dark sky.

"Yeah, the rain is pretty soothing." I look down trying to think about something else to say.

After that failed attempt we remained silent and continued on. Thankfully, we had arrived to my house so I thank him and quickly made me way inside. I had noticed my mom's car out in the driveway thinking i'd be best to avoid her I ran upstairs.

Not long after I got a call from Carmen telling me that she would be dropping off Sadie and Finn both had gotten incredibly drunk. I took a deep breath as I watched Finn's car pull up on the street. I opened the back door first and helped Sadie out. Her hands were freezing she still had her cheer uniform on and my thin purple sweater.

"Hello." She grasps my face bringing it close to hers. Her breath reeked of alcohol making me pull away and laugh. She was completely gone.

"Come on Finn." I whispered trying not to wake up my mom.

He sluggishly made his way out of the car. Sadie was pulling my arm impatiently while I tried my best to keep Finn on his feet.

"Thanks Carmen. I'll send him for the car tomorrow."  I looked through the window to see her tired eyes she too still had her cheer uniform on.

"Ok. Goodnight Lana."

I managed to get Sadie to help me hold up Finn and get him up the stairs. We struggled to keep him awake long enough to get him to his room. I could tell Sadie was about to give out at any moment.

"Here let's just take him to my room." She nodded her head. We threw Finn onto my bed where he rolled over and began to snore. I removed his shoes and turned him on his side just incase he threw up in his sleep.

"I'm never going out with him again." Sadie declares. She proceeded to tell me all about the party and the football game. I listened to her while I set blankets on the ground for us to sleep on because Finn had completely taken over my bed.

She lays beside me now wearing my clothes. It was nothing new, still it made me feel a mixture of nervousness and contentment.

"Finn kinda stinks." She slurred with her back towards me. I let out a small laugh, she wasn't wrong.

"yeah, both of you kinda stink." I tease her while burying my head into her shoulder.

She gasps before completely falling asleep.
