AIGRAGALLA WAS BEAUTIFUL AND MAJESTIC BUT THEY KNEW BETTER THAN TO STAY FOREVER; THEY HAD TO GO BACK.Β Despite not wanting to leave, they knew their people also needed them for protection and reassurance.

The scouts were dressed in their newly washed uniforms, adjusting their gears and untying their horses from the poles and wooden supporters.

Eren adjusted the saddle on his horse and sighed before looking up one last time at the top part of a tower of the castle building that managed to peek out a little above the Wall.

Armin glanced at his friend, not missing the fact that he had released his breath in such despair. He, too, was displeased with how they had to leave the place at such an early notice.

Mikasa was standing in front of the woman, her horse readied a few minutes before the others as she wanted to say her goodbye.

"Take care," the young girl said and the newly crowned Empress smiled in a mix of gratefulness and sadness.

"You too," she replied, "Get stronger, I know you can do it."

The black-haired girl nodded in determination and walked away just as she saw a certain man approaching them or in this case, her.

F/n's grin stayed put as she locked eyes with the approaching man. He stopped just a few metres in front of her and waited for a moment before speaking.

"This is it, we'll have to leave now," he said in a tone that would sound like he was stating something obvious to everyone else but to her, she knew that he was seeking something else.

"You do," she agreed with a single nod.

There was a moment of silence. A gust of wind blew by, pushing their hair towards the South as F/n's smile turned gentler every second that passed by.

"You'll be alright."

"I don't think I will," he opposed, almost sounding completely upset about something that anyone who heard him would have known right away.

"Why not?" she asked with slightly furrowed eyebrows as her lips twitched downwards ever so slightly.

How Levi wished he had not said that. How he wished he could turn back time to just see her smile again. But it was something small that he could fix easily and with one statement.

"You won't be there with me."

Just as he had predicted, a wide smile broke onto her face and she even let out a short, quiet laugh. He felt his own lips starting to twitch upwards but suppressed it as they were not alone.

"You'll be alright," she repeated, letting out the last of her laughter, "I'll always be with you, even not physically. You can always visit and I, too, will try."

"Thank you."

Another moment of silence appeared amongst them but the air surrounding it was light and uplifting. They continued to stare at each other's eyes, noticing the reflection of themselves in them.

But their small yet meaningful moment was rudely interrupted by a weeping woman.

"Don't hog her all day, shorty," she protested, pushing him away and wrapping her arms around her neck.

"Idiot," he audibly muttered, crossing his arms as he looked at the two, one gaining more of his attention than the other.

He looked at how Hange had her arms tightly around F/n's neck and a tinge of displeasing feeling flickered in him. How he wished he could do the same even in front of people.

"I don't want to leave yet! Erwin! Can we stay for a little while longer?" Hange whined, tightening her hold on the younger woman who didn't seem to at all mind the affection.

"Don't suffocate her, Hange," the Commander scolded but all the scientist did was pout, "We'll see you again next time, won't we, F/n?"

"Yes," she responded while nodding.

He gave her a nod back and said, "Good. We'll take our leave now, then."

"No~!"

For some unknown reason in an unknown way, Erwin managed to pull Hange away from the woman while telling her to get ready for her responsibilities.

Everyone seemed to be busy with their own things, some busied themselves with their things and their horses while others talked amongst each other. Levi took this chance to pull the woman to him and lightly pushed her head against his chest.

F/n was taken slightly aback at the sudden action but was distracted then by the fast-beating heart the man owned.

"Be safe," he whispered in her ear, almost appearing to sound desperate.

That was what he feared the most. After all of those things that had happened to the woman, he felt the larger need to protect her at all costs. She could be in so much danger even within the Walls.

"I will only if you will as well," she cheekily said and an unknowing smile grew on his lips.

"Then you'll have to be as safe as you can be," he returned, earning himself a warm chuckle.

The Commander called out the soldiers which caused them to unwillingly separate. Their hands grazed each other's, eyes staring at the other's for the last time for who knows how long.

With one last glance at the woman, he rode away with her staring at his back with a sad yet anticipating expression. She heaved out a sigh, already missing him dearly but knowing better to wait than mourn.

Though, one thing was rather... incorrect, one thing that Levi had said. It was definitely not over yet. It was now on pause with so many more upcoming events that could either go uphill or downhill.

Their adventure had just begun.
