April's POV

...❀❁❀...

My eyes open to the cool air hitting them. I have to close them again to rub the crust away. A huge migraine comes over me, making me whimper at how exhausted I feel.Β

I look around myself to see that I am in my room. As I sit up my back aches. The cold floor touches my feet and I shiver. I try to stand, but my attempt fails, I fall back into the bed.Β

"Why do I feel like jello," I mumble. I have never felt like this before, it frustrates me even more because I am already a weak person.

"You could feel worse," a voice whispers, startling the crap out of me. Adrenaline makes me sit up quickly and back into the corner of my bed. I see lime green eyes stare at me from the other side of the room.Β

"Who the hell are you?!" I exclaim watching as the person with the lime green eyes stand up and walks into the light from my window. It is a little old dark skin man, he has white hair and a white beard, his clothes look tattered and torn. "Stay away!" I cry out as he comes closer to me.Β

I push myself further into the corner as he does not stop walking Β towards me, "I said stay away!" I yell.Β

As if on command his body freezes.Β

He stares at me, a smirk splays across his face. "You got it honestly girl!" he says, unfreezing himself. He laughs joyfully while stroking his beard, "Your mama was the same, always so...timid, but when she wanted something, she got it." he chuckled.Β

"Who are you?" I cock my head to the side with a look of confusion. "And how do you know my mother?" I have never seen this man in my life, let alone ever heard of him, "And why are you in my room?"Β

"There you go again, acting like your mama, always asking tons of questions," he chortles then his face turns serious all of a sudden, "I'm your grandaddy April." His lime green eyes turn darker, "And I am here because you discovered yourself."Β

"I discovered myself?" I question. "And I don't think you are my grand...father," I say looking him up and down.

"What you talking about, you look just like me," he smiles showing off his disgusting rotting teeth, I cringe away at the sight, "Anyway, you discovered your true self and that is why I am here." he pokes his chest out with pride.Β

I realize that he is not a tall man at all. He looks nothing like me, he claims to be a kin to mine, and he kind of smells funny.Β

"Sorry but not sorry, you need to leave. I don't know who you are and I don't know where you came from, but you need to take your raggedy self somewhere else," I come from out of my corner, standing to my full height that is taller than him by an inch.Β

"No can do my roasted walnut, I am here to stay. I have been watching over you for a month and you ain't going nowhere," he says while I head for the door, I stop when I hear 'a month'.Β

"A month, what do you mean a month?" I turn to him.Β

"Now now, just come back and get in your bed," I don't listen to his instructions and instead open the door to my room, only to see that the outside is nothing but water.

I gasp at the sight. Where are the stairs to go downstairs? Where are the cheerful voices of the other pack members. A hand touches my shoulder.Β

"I'll explain everything if you sit down," I look at the lime green eyes staring at me, his tone turns gentle making me feel at ease and I do as he says.Β

...

"So you are telling me that I have a generational power only passed down by the women in my lineage. Β And the only way to discover the power is by facing deep adversity?" I repeat everything the man just told me. I hold a hot cup of tea in my shaking hands, taking sip by sip as I listen to him.Β

"Yep, and that's the tea," he chortles , gulping down some of his own tea.

"Why was I never told this as a kid?"

He sighs and begins speaking.

"Well, your mother and I got into a huge argument because..." he sighs looking at the ground, "I wanted her to stay here at my pack, but she wanted to go be with your father. When she left, I told her she was on her own and not to come crying to me when something happens," A tear falls from his eye. "After a few years, I got a letter from your father, saying that she passed away."Β

The old man's face crumbles at his own words. "She was so young, and when I found out it was because of her giving birth, I blamed your father. I hated him and didn't want to deal with him or his pack. Me being a stubborn old fart, I didn't listen when Raymond was trying to tell me that the newborn baby was a girl."Β

"He came to me so that I could help raise you. So, that I could help start your special training. I was so mad at him, I didn't want anything to do with him. I guess your father was helpless by that and he most likely did the only thing that he saw fit, which was hiding you and sheltering you. If you had faced any type of trauma or deep adversity, your body would have went haywire causing a lot of damage."Β

"A month ago, your brothers, a feisty girl named Tiana, and some skimpy looking white boy came to me. They told me they found out about me through a set of letters found in your father's safe. They told me about you." his eyes glance at me as he continues, "I was shocked, and couldn't believe it when I found out my daughter had a daughter of her own. I thought the generational power was gone, but it wasn't." He stares at me intently.Β

"They transported you here to this pack while you were unconscious. I swear that skimpy white boy had a hard time leaving you here," he shakes his head, "But you've been here in my custody, and now that you are awake," his eyes turn back to that deep green color, "We are going to train young lady."
