Scarring heat fills my body and there is an unbearable and intense flaming hot pain coming from my shoulder that radiates throughout the rest of my body. I open my eyes as tears start well up, but suddenly I am knocked into what looks like the nurse's office of my school back at home. 

Everything looks the same from the last time I was there, but as I look even more around I see my sweet mate, Daniel. He is staring right pass me and I smile, but my smile quickly falls when I see a look of total fear in his eyes. 

 I wave my hand for him to look at me, but he pays me no mind. I look behind me to see what he is staring at and I see Maximus staring back at him. Maximus's hands are balled into fist and suddenly blood stains them. I look back to Daniel, to see him crumbled on the ground. 

I almost want to scream when I see the bruises on his face. His eyes are swollen and his lip is busted. His beautiful skin begins to turn a bluish black color and I try to go to him, but my legs will not move. 

"You are a monster and you will never be anything more than a monster! I am just surprised that April hasn't seen your true colors yet, but she will soon. And when she does, she will drop your sorry ass too," Maximus spat at Daniel. 

I am taken back when the scene ends and I am left to looking at my mate. He is carrying me in his arms and he has a distressed and very tired look on his face.

I suddenly come to the realization of what I just went through. I must have gone through a memory with him and that memory must have been him and Maximus after me and my father left the nurse's office that day.

Daniel sighs and he looks down at me and our dark brown eyes meet one another. 

"So that's what he said to you," I croak out. His eyes widen and he stops walking on what seems like rough terrain in the forest. 

"Your'e up," he gives me a genuine smile and kisses me on the lips while still holding me. All the distress and tiredness leaves his facial features which concerns me. 

I give into the kiss for the moment, but pull away when I hear someone clear their throat. I stretch my soar neck to see Damien behind us. He is wearing a heavy black jacket and some matching hiking boots and pants. 

"What is he doing here?" I ask Daniel softly and he looks behind him at Damien and sighs. 

"You have missed a lot."

...

I look at my shoulder again not being able to believe that I had gotten shot and not by just anyone it was Damien's supposedly dead mate. 

After I woke up, Daniel wanted us to stop and take a break for a moment. Him and Damien have  filled me in on all that has happened and Daniel has basically forced food into my hands to eat that he borrowed/ stole from Damien's pack. 

"Yep that's the tea sis," Damien smiles and Daniel and I look at him weirdly, "Sorry," he mutters. 

"We should get going, we don't want anyone catching us," Daniel stands and stretches to his full height and puts his hands out for me to get into. I look at him like he is crazy. 

"I can walk Daniel," I say and start to walk,  but I wobble and lose my balance. 

Thankfully he is there to catch me before I land on my injured shoulder. I smiled sheepishly and he gives me a knowing stare. "Maybe I should just hold onto you for a bit." 

"Yeah," he says and we start to walk west and before I know it, Daniel is carrying me again because my legs just don't want to cooperate. 

Daniel: I thought I would get a break when you woke up

He says through our mind link. 

"Sorry," I say and he shakes his head. 

Daniel: At least you are awake to distract me from that brat

I giggle and plant a kiss on his chin. 

Me: Be nice

I say.

Daniel: You try dealing with him for five minutes, I bet you will not last

He states. 

I am about to respond when we hear a gasp from Damien. We look at him and he is pointing to something in the distance. We both turn our heads that way and see red smoke in the air. There is a boom noise that goes throughout the land and it makes me jump. 

My senses tell me that there is danger. 

"We need to get out of here," Daniel mutters and he sets me on the ground and he starts to go behind a tree to transform. "Ride on my back, you are too injured to transform," he says and I nod. 

He goes behind the tree and comes out in his black wolf. I get on his back. Damien's tan and white wolf comes out from behind a different tree. They nod to each other and continue to run west.
