alysia's pov

true to her word, billie cuddled me in her bunk on the way to the next city. i was cuddled into her side, while she lightly ran her fingertips over my back and under my hoodie.

i was playing with her own hoodie's drawstring as i spoke quietly. "bil?"

"yeah?"

"earlier you said that you know what it's like to be cheated on." i mumbled and i felt her chest rise up and down as she let out a sigh.

"yeah, i do. it sucks ass."

"i'm sorry."

"don't be, it's not your fault. to be honest, i'm kinda glad that it happened, because if it didn't, i would've never found you." she explained, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.

"really? how so?" i asked, shifting my position so that i could look up at her.

"well, you know how the first text i sent you said that i needed my shit back?" i nodded and she continued. "it was meant for my ex, because he wouldn't give me stuff that i'd left at his house throughout the time that we were together. dude was a fucking asshole."

my face scrunched in disgust at the thought of dating a guy, but to each their own i guess. i leaned forward and kissed her jaw, it being the only place i could get to from my position. "i'm glad that you texted my number instead. these past eight months have been pretty great."

"has it really been eight months since i first texted you?" she asked wide-eyed.

"well you texted in july and it's february now so," i counted the months on my fingers. "yeah, eight months."

"best eight months of my life." she said as she leaned down to press her lips to mine sweetly.

i placed my hand on the side of her face, pulling her closer to me, and deepening the kiss. my hand reached to tangle through her hair.

after a while, we pulled away, a smile on both of our faces. "i love you."

"i love you too."

i laid on head on her chest and draped my arm over her stomach. "i'm sleepy, though, so goodnight."

she chuckled softly and kissed my forehead. "goodnight, baby."
