~DABI~

"Even in their wildest dreams, I would never give any of our set boys a chance with me."

That was Ebere Onuoha, speaking, with a cup of cocktail in her hand and an invisible crown on her head.

Well....

Dabeluchi Aurora Orji finally grew some balls and decided to tell the Igbo Sisters that she was in love with Marcus Acha and much to her surprise, they weren't even taking it as severely as I thought they would.

It almost made me think that I wasted so much of my time and worries, anxious about how they would view the entire thing.

I knew for a fact that they were not much fans of Marcus Acha. From the very start, they had not thought the best of him. So, it made me a bit worried about how receptive they would be to the news.

So, I told Chika I had a big confession to make to everyone. And I was indeed scared of how they were going to take it.

However, they surprised me.

It was one pick up from Chika, a day off School, and the Sisters joining in to have lunch together Gomery that prompted me to open right up and say it to them in thirteen words.

"Marcus Acha and I are in love and have been seeing each other."

I swear, it was as straight to the point as that. I didn't stutter, I didn't beat around the bush, I just went straight to the point with it.

And for what felt like a eternity, Chika Chioma and the Onuoha Twins moped at me like I was as basic as a piece of cardboard paper....

These girls were actually waiting to hear more.

Chika blinked once.

The twins blinked twice.

I blinked three times.

"Is that all?"

I stared back at the faces of these girls like they were speaking a different language.

"Is that the big confession?" Ebere raised a brow, a look of slight confusion hinting on her pretty face.

Uhm...

Swallowing hard, I nodded, uncertain of how I was supposed to react to their reaction.

Awkwardly, I rubbed the back of my neck as I answered, "In a nutshell, yeah."

The twins laughed softly and shook their heads with smiles on their faces.

"Oh, sweetheart, we darn already knew that," Ebere shrugged nonchalantly as she sipped water in a bottle from a straw.

"Seconded," Ebube looked over her nails and blew imaginary dust off them. "No offence, love, but you're terrible at being sacred and shit."

"Well, I didn't know," Chika said. There was a little smile tugging at her lips, so I knew she wasn't offended. "And considering Dabi was able to keep this well away from the set. Then, wow, she did a good job."

I can't believe they were taking this so lightly.

"Our classmates and gossip are like flies to poop," She carried on. "For them to not know about them till this day? Then, Dabi deserves some accolades."

"Disgusting reference, Chi," Ebere gagged slightly on her straw. "But, I totally grasp the concept."

She sipped more from her water bottle and I was just in quiet shock at their calmness and unbothered reaction to this revelation.

"And okay, I'd give that to her," The twin concurred, mock saluted, "Twale, Secret agent Aurora. Congrats on fooling the entire CH with your mouth watering secret. You deserve some accolades, abi na." She nudged me playfully by the side and giggled.

Ehh...?

"Wait, so you're not bothered?" I asked the girls. "Like, at all?"

"Why should we? If he hurts you, we'll just have to murder him, no big deal," Ebere made that clear, a smile fixated on her face and her eyes bright with wonder.

That took me aback.

"Seconded," Ebube nodded. Identical smile and bright eyes on as she added, "We'll kill, cremate, and sprinkle his dust into oblivion. And no one would ever find out. It would be like he never existed, sweetheart."

Gulp. "That's extreme."

"I think what the twins are trying to say," Chika took over, eyeing them to behave, and taking my hand gently in hers, "is that we're happy for you and we just hope his intentions are good and true." I smiled at her words and wanted to assure her that Marc was everything good.

"Sister," There was a smile in her eyes when she looked me in the eyes and her words came softly, "If you're happy, then why should we be bothered."

A loud exaggerated yawn came from Ebere who was mocking our moment and the entire table was thrown into a laughing mess and we were falling into each other, laughing away to our heart's content with all carefree and abandon.

I couldn't believe it.

I couldn't believe that something that had been lodging my whole heart in my throat was what we all were laughing about right now. I just couldn't believe it!

"Dabz, I'm just a bit offended that you would not want to tell us about such a part of your life though," Chika said to me. "I mean, I get you not wanting the set to know about you guys, but I don't understand why you wouldn't have told us. You had a whole love life and we weren't there to tease you through it. Makes me feel like we're such bad friends."

"No, no, it's not like that," I assured her, and the twins, "It's not like I wanted to cut you out of my love life or anything..."

It wasn't that at all.

"You guys don't like Marcus Acha," I reminded them.Β

"So?" Ebere frowned. "We don't like Soma's boyfriend either, but what does that give?"

"Ebere," Chika looked like she was trying to hold back her laughter even though feigning seriousness, "Don't say it like that."

"Do you like Noble?" Ebere asked the light skinned girl.

"I don't hate him," Chika clarified. "I just don't trust him that much. None of us really do."

Well, true.

"But that does not mean we will hold a knife to your neck and force you to cut off a person who makes you happy," Chika went on to elaborate. "If we don't like the guy you are in love with, that's actually our business and not yours, for real. As far as he does not hurt you, we are good."

"Marc is a really good guy though," I said to them, "I feel like if you guys actually got to know him, you'd actually like him a lot."

Somadina Best barged in the middle of us with a tray of food for us in her hands.

"I second Dabi actually," The tall girl said to all of us as she scooted in to join us, throwing out a baby napkin to wear over her neck and picked one plate of fried rice from the five on the tray.

A part of me wanted to ask Soma how she had been feeling. Especially since, you know....

But she seemed bright enough today. Too bright for a girl who had a mental breakdown in front of all of us the night before. It was almost a food for thought for me.

"Acha is actually a really nice guy, and he cares a lot for Dabi," She told all of us, eyes bright with truth and sincerity in them. "I'd know because we have talked a couple times."

Soma started to pour her Fanta drink into a The Casagrandes baby cup, making sure to fix in a dramatic looking spiralling straw into it and sipping from it like a two year old.

I actually laughed.

This was a girl who literally confessed to us the night before that she had a drug addiction and cried her eyes out that she felt so dirty and advanced over her years. It didn't matter to me what Soma said about herself the night before, one thing was ever clear as crystal and that was the fact that Somadina Best was still a child at heart.

Nonetheless.

However, Chika's brows furrowed in slight confusion as she watched Soma.

"Did you know about Dabi and Acha?" She asked the girl.

Soma stopped sipping. Looked up at us with big brown adorable eyes. Burped. Blinked. Burped again. "Um, yeah, from the very start."

She answered softly and truthfully and they all looked surprised.

I wondered why Chika acted surprised too. I mean, I had already told her on the phone that Soma knew about everything.Β

"Now, I am actually curious to know the start of all of this," Ebere teased, looked through to the Sisters to see if they were in agreement, "I mean, right?" No one begged to differ. They were all in tune with her, nodding to that and urging me on to speak and tell them everything.

I felt so attacked in the most playful way as they all started to face me and tease me into talking, and I wanted to disappear into thin air.

"Tell us, Dabi!" The twins were urging.

"There's nothing to tell!" I was blushing hard and covering my face in embarrassment.

"Oh, please!" Chika was mock groaning, shoving me playfully.

"I'm serious," I was dying of embarrassment and my cheeks burned so hard.

"Come on, Lulu, tell us everything! Tell everyone!" Soma probed and as the twins nudged me playfully, tickling my ribs, and I couldn't help but burst out into rich laughter, seeing stars all around me as I fell right into Chika's laps and laughed so hard I thought my head would blow.Β

"Okay, wait, wait wait, I'll talk," I spoke through laughter and tried to plead with them to stop with their assaults, "I swear, I'm talking. I'm talking.β€”" Ebere pinched my ribs and I screamed and shrieked, "I said I'm coming. I'm coming! Please!" I was a laughing mess at that point.

"We are waiting, Lulu bear," Soma feigned seriousness and folded her arms.

"Okay, okay, fine," I raised my hands in a fake gesture of surrender, "Well, it started in Yure Adediji's party."

"Wow, someone's gotta give it to that Yure guy for being the genesis of so many stories to tell," Ebere commented.

"Seconded," Ebube quipped right after her.

"Let Lulu talk oo!" Soma playfully fired at the twins.

I giggled, continued, "Well, after Chika lost my headband, I thought that Aaron or Casper had it, so I wanted to go into the Baller's room to get it back.β€”"

"Wow, so you were willing to walk into a room full of hormone raging, muscular set boys just for a headband? Bold move." Ebere chipped in.

I mean, I guess I could say the fear of me showing up in school with my natural hair out in its full view for everyone surpassed my fear for my set boys.

"The room I entered was not even their room at the end of the day, and you'll never believe what happened," I told them.

"Oh, snap," Ebere backed up, eyes wide in concern. "Please, please, don't tell me you walked in on naked set boys. That would be beyond traumatizing."

"What the fuck, no!" I laughed.

"Wait, wait," Chika recalled, "I think I remember this. " She turned to the Sisters and said, "Don't y'all remember, Hassana had told us that Dabi was locked up in a room with Acha that night. And we could not reach Dabi because she did not have her phone, so she called Yure for us, and then, Yure said that Nana already informed him about it and the carpenters were coming the next morning."

How did Hassana even know that?

Chika turned back to me and squinted in interest, "Was that when all of this happened?"

"Well, I didn't fall for him in one night, that's for sure," I told her. "And contrary to what our classmates insinuated, Marc did not touch me that night."

"Them no born am well." Chika scoffed and laughter sprung from our table.

"But, you know the twins were really urging me on to play with our classmates since they were already shipping us both from all the rumours of that night," I continued, "So, I think that sort of gave Marc the wrong impression because he started being all over me."

"So you're saying the twins match made you two," Soma teased on.

The twins pouted in pride and flipped their hair dramatically.

"I guess so," I laughed softly. "Well, Marc was everywhere. He came to my dance classβ€”"

"β€” And pretended like he only came to return her phone that he found," Soma whispered playfully in conspiracy to the Sisters, giggling at the ridiculousness, "I mean, who is wearing pampers? Oga clearly came to toast her!"

The Sisters were slamming the table, laughing through tears.

I laughed too. I couldn't help it. Watching them be so open about this was all I ever wanted. If I knew they were going to take this so well, I would have opened up a long time ago.

"Our connection that day he came to my dance class was something else," I told them, and they were making funny sounds with their mouths and googly eyes and I almost stopped talking.

Just like that, I told them all about the first time Marcus came to my Dance class, how he made everyone love him on first meet, how he danced with me, and how electrifying it felt. I told the, everything. Even down to when we got outside, had so much fun in the most random talks, surrounded by other happy dance 'mates that gave us euphoria, swooning to Julia Michael's music, and I also talked about the origin of our pet names from the original Bonnie and Clyde.

"Ouuu, Aurora and Clyde, that's fancy," Chika quipped.

"He saved his name as Clyde in my phone," I blushed as I told them.Β

"So, why does he call you Aurora instead of Bonnie?" Ebube asked in curiosity.

"Oh that one was when we went to Heaven," I answered easily.

"Hah," Chika backed up, "These ones have even gone to the afterlife and we're still here!"

"No, no, no!" I laughed into my hands. "I mean, he took me to Heaven. It was on the same day of Wonder Coast. I wanted to stop by and he agreed."

"But, guy it's expensive as shit there," Ebere said.

"No joke," Ebube rode on, "I heard their lowest charge is like 65k for a room. Do you know how long they spend in one room? Barely five minutes. What a rip off! The owners of that cash out sha."

"Well, it actually is worth it," I said. "The owners tried with the visuals of the place. It just transports you to another universe entirely."

"And also robs your bank account," Ebere sipped on her water.

"Oh, come on, you waste more money on Zumia," Chika teased Ebere.

"For things that would defs last me more than five minutes, Chi," Ebere made it clear.

"I feel anything spent on Love is not a waste of time," Soma declared, eyes flustered with wonder and hope as she added, "When Noble comes, I am going to make sure he takes me to Heaven too, so we could be lost in our world of love, love, loveeeee!"Β

"As pa he's Dangote's son naw," Chika joked as everyone laughed at Soma's declaration.Β

"Apparently, Marcus Acha is," Ebere said to everyone, turned to me and whispered in conspiracy, "Rob him, sis."Β  And winked to it.Β

Again, I could not believe how playfully they were taking this whole things.

"And I am guessing he is the one you danced with in Wonder Coast, ba?" Chika asked me.

I nodded. "Yeah, we went to Wonder Coast after we were back from Heaven."

"Lulu, there is a part that you are forgetting," Soma flustered her lashes, "I was the one who even made you want to go and see Acha that day. You won't tell them?"

"Ouuu, so wait, are we now saying that Soma match made Dabi and Acha and not us?" Ebere gestured between she and her twin.

"I guess its safe to say that you all played fair roles," Chika balanced it all and Soma and the twins nodded to that.

"Well, I thank Soma for giving me the courage to go that day because I think that was the highlight of us," I said and everyone cooed. "He was the one who made me dance that day. I wouldn't have, if not for him. It was so much fun dancing with him, and I had never felt a thing like that beforeΒ β€”"

Ebere noisily and dramatically cleared her throat and laughter was all over.

"Let her talk na," Soma hit her.

"Girl, I didn't even say shit," Ebere raised her hands in mock surrender.

"You were saying, Lulu??" Soma gave me back the mic.

"It was just magical, that's all I can say," I continued. "We had so much fun and we made some new friends there too. Dawn and Ansel. We danced with them andβ€”"

"Wait, Dawn Damipe? Abi, is it not that i.am.dawn babe on IG?" Ebere cut me off with an excited snap of her fingers.

"Yup," Soma quipped, "The girl that trended with her boyfriend from that Wonder Coast stuff. His handle is Chima_AJ. He and Dawn were the ones that danced with Dabi and Acha in Wonder Coast dance fare."

"Dayum, those two are freaking popular on TikTok and IG though," Chika commented. "Do y'all still talk, Dabz?"

"Well, I was only able to get Dawn's number, and not Ansels'," I told them, "But I'm not too frequent online. But Dawn and I do talk once in a while. She's a really nice person."

"And just like her, you would have been gathering half a million followers on Social Media if you didn't delete your account, Dabi," Ebere said.

"Leave the girl, abeg," Chika rolled her eyes at the Twin. "Dabi wants a private life. I think that's perfectly fine."

"Well, Dabi still has over a dozen fan pages on IG though," Soma reminded everyone.

"And I don't know why I have a feeling that some of them are handled by these rat ass girls from our set who won't admit that they're obsessed with Dabeluchi," Ebere mocked and everyone laughed heartily.

"I'm still surprised that Dabi and Acha were in a place as public as Wonder Coast and no classmate was able to confirm that Acha was actually the guy with her. Remember it was all speculations and conspiracy theories, ba?" Chika said to everyone.

"And to think, so many classmates were there that day," Soma nodded.

I remembered clearly seeing the likes of Giwa Falade and her alpha female clique there too.

And as a matter of fact, that was the first time I had officially seen Chika with Aaron Godson.

"I just feel good graces were upon Dabi and Acha," Soma aired her opinion.

"And Dabi will tell me that she was so engrossed in Acha that she did not even take one picture with Stormy there? I heard she was there Liv and direct and she performed her hit song and everything, and beanie girl didn't cut soap for us," Ebere joked.

"Ebere!" Soma laughed.

"So many influencers were there too," Ebere was still going on. "I heard those popular TikTok boys, the Metta brothers, were there too!"

"I heard they came, but I didn't see any of the them. Supposedly, when the boys arrived, the place was upside down," I said as a matter of fact.

"Clearly," Chika sounded like that was expected.

"But, I didn't see them," I told them. "Asides, Stormy, I didn't see any influencers. But them, Stormy isn't an influencer. She's a really big A list celebrity singer."

"Oya oya, don't go off topic!" Soma was saying, "We were talking about you and Marcus Acha, not Stormy or the Metta Brothers. Continue! Continue!"

I chuckled lightly to myself.

"Okay, so, since that night at Wonder Coast, Marc and I just hung out a lot and got quite close," I told them in summary.

"Girl, no!" Ebere shook her head ND waved her finger in my face. "Oh hell the fuck no. You ain't about to rob us off all some details!"

I laughed. I actually laughed out so loud.

But, I told them. I told them everything and did not miss out a single detail. Told them about all those times that we had snuck out to see each other, all the places we went, and all the experiences we had together. I also told them about how Prissy Waje, a classmate almost us when we went to the game
