Groggily, I opened my eyes after taking a six hour nap because somebody woke me up to early. Asshole. I turned my head to the side, seeing Ace sat in his seat with a computer on the table as he typed away on it. His hair was messy and his eyes were drowsy as he stared blankly at the screen with one hand perched under his clean shaven jaw.

The light from the screen illuminated off his face in the darkness, highlighting his forest green eyes and defined jawline.

"Do you ever sleep?" I mumbled, stretching as I sat upright.

"No." He grumbled.

"Why?" I found myself asking. Not that I give a fuck. I'm just curious as to how this man functions.

His hooded eyes met mine for a moment, like he was searching for something but what?

He inhaled a deep breath, turning his gaze back to his computer as he answered quietly. "I don't like it."

I furrowed my eyebrows, confused about how one could not like sleeping. I sleep to escape my problems which is why I love it apart from the occasional nightmares I get.

I leaned my forearms against the table, staring intently into his emerald eyes. Somewhat trying to figure this man out. I don't know why but I want to know.

"Why?" I asked again, tilting my head to the side slightly.

He inhaled a sharp breath and his eyes narrowed as he stared at me. His expression hardened drastically, probably because I hit something in him. I pressed a button that I wasn't suppose to.

"None of your fuckin' business Arccadi." He spat out, glaring at me and normally I would back off but the look in his eyes makes me want to push on.

"It's just you and me here Ace." I smirked and rested my jaw on top of my hand.

"That's the problem. Why would I want to tell you out of all people?" He furrowed his eyebrows, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Me and you are somewhat alike. Now tell me." I state simply.

Two fucked up souls in one fucked up world.

"Why do you care?" He grumbled, moving his computer to the side.

"I don't." I shrugged my shoulders, waiting for him to answer my question.

He stared at me for a moment before sighing as he ran a hand through his brunette hair. " 'Cause it hurts. Every time I close my eyes I wake up in cold sweat and I hate it." He mumbled, fiddling with the

pen on the table.

And I was right. We are somewhat alike.

"Nightmares?" I question.

Emerald eyes snapped towards mine in a heartbeat. Each second the beat increases rapidly as I waited for his answer but he hesitated. I'm right.

"You could say that." He mumbled, taking a cigarette out of his pocket. He lit the cigarette and let it hang loosely on his lips as the smoke swayed into the air elegantly.

Then he extended his joint towards me so I smirked and took it, inhaling the smoke before exhaling it.

The plane landed in Paris a few hours ago and we are now on our way to the hotel Ace booked for us.

We got out the limo and walked into the massive ass hotel. A porter came over and took our bags from us and quickly left. Maybe a little too quickly.

"Mr Del Rosso. Lovely to see you again." The receptionist greeted him, the french accent rolled
of her tongue smoothly.

I took a mint from the bowl on the desk as Ace shot me a glare so I rolled my eyes and grabbed another one, extending it out towards him. He narrowed his eyes at me but took the mint anyways.

"I have 2 rooms booked." Ace grumbled and leaned his forearms against the desk as the lady smirked at him. Gags.

The lady clicked around on her computer for what seems like forever before she quietly spoke again. "W-we only have o-one room booked under your name sir." She stuttered like an idiot.

Hold up one room? One room? Uno room? Un room? A singular room?

Ace's jaw ticked in irritation as he glared down at the lady intimidatingly. "What do you mean there's only one fucking room?" He gritted out angrily.

"Seriously what is this bullshit lady?" I glared at her, pointing my finger at her.

"I- Uh- There's only one room booked here. All the others are fully booked." She stuttered, shaking a bit for fuck knows why.

"You're fucking fired. Get the fuck out of my building." He ordered. Authority laced his tone, leaving no room for discussion.

The lady quickly scrambled off her seat and ran out the door like her life depended on it.

Ace sighed, rubbing his hands down his face before grabbing the room keycard and walking away without a word. Oh fuck me.

I let out a harsh breath and followed behind him to the elevator. Ace took his phone out and aggressively tapped on the screen with a clenched jaw. He shoved his phone back into his pocket as I closed my eyes, leaning my forehead against the elevator wall, feeling the jet lag catch up to me.

The doors opened so we both walked out and made our way towards the door at the end of the long hallway. Ace opened the room door and we walked inside to be met with a large window that overlooks the city lights.

The lights reflected of the window, creating a soft glow in the dark room. To the left was a bed with two night stands and to the right was a small ass couch with a tv above it.

"Dibs on the bed." I rushed out, smirking triumphantly when he shot me a glare.

"You think my ass can fit on that shit?" He pointed towards the couch, raising an eyebrow.

"What ass?"

He scoffed, rolling his green eyes as he threw his jacket to the side. I face planted onto the bed with an exhausted sigh and when I looked back up I saw Ace standing at the foot of the bed shirtless as he rummage through his suitcase.

My eyes were mesmerised by the tattoos on his toned chest and abs. His bronze skin covered in dozen of different ink designs, some so beautiful they could make any artist weep. His tattoos rained over his skin, dark and forbidden as his muscles flexed with each movement he did.

I imagined how they'd flex if he was on top of me with his sweaty body fucking me into oblivion.

Where did that come from River?

When he sensed my gaze, he lifted his head up smirking at me. His heated gaze made me clench my thighs together so I rolled off the bed and grabbed my clothes from my bag before quickly walking into the bathroom to get changed.

After showering and brushing my teeth, I walked back out in a baggy t-shirt and shorts. Ace wore a pair of grey sweatpants that hung dangerously low around his waist, revealing his Calvin Klein waistband. He was sitting at the edge of the bed, skimming through the channels on the tv.

"I don't understand any of this shit." He groaned, chucking the remote to the side.

"That's 'cause you're dumb as fuck." I grumbled, sitting next to him on the bed with my legs crossed.

"Fuck off." He shot me a glare and twirled his rings around his fingers. "Do you want room service or some shit?"

"If you're paying then sure." I smirked.

Ace rolled his eyes and picked up the phone from the nightstand, ordering food as I got into bed. After Ace was finished on the phone he grabbed a pillow from the bed and laid his head on it as he closed his eyes.

I grabbed a pen from the side and picked up one of his veiny hands. Out of boredom I drew a butterfly on an empty spot on his hand since it was all covered in tattoos.

His eyes snapped open and he sat up slightly to look at what I'm doing. "What are you fuckin' doing?" He grumbled, glaring at my hand.

"Skydiving." I mumbled, continuing to draw the lines of the butterfly.

"Ever heard of paper?" He grumbled, sitting up fully on the bed.

"Shut up and stop moving so much." I complain, tightening my grip on his cold hand so he stops fucking moving.

Ace huffs and reluctantly stops moving his hand, and instead he restedΒ  it on top of my knee as I continued my drawing. His free hand played with the loose thread of my t-shirt mindlessly as he watches me intensely.

The heat that radiated off him bounced onto my body since he was inches away from me. I admired his long eyelashes that shadowed over his tanned cheeks as he gazed down at my hand closely. He had a crease in his forehead and his lower lip was bitten between his teeth.

When my hand movement stopped, Ace's gazed snapped towards mine within a second. "Are you done?" He grumbled. His face was once again inches away from mine like that time in his office. Right after my panic attack.

My hands lingered on his for a moment before I quickly released it after realising I was basically holding his fucking hand. "Mhm." I nodded my head and stared at the new ink on his hand.

His hand brushed off my knee lightly with the tips of his fingers. His lips tipped at the corners slightly at the sight of the butterfly on his veiny hand.

"A butterfly? That's so basic River." His tongue poked the inside of his cheek and he lightly chuckled.

"Well you are basic." I shrugged my shoulders and got up from the bed when the door knocked.

I thanked the guy for giving us our food and shut the door behind me as I walked back over to the bed. Ace was still staring at his hand so I threw a baguette at him then gave him an innocent smile when he glared at me.
