Ivan's flight landed an hour ago but nothing has happened. I don't know what kind of twisted game he's trying to play but I'm sick of his bullshit. Either we kill this motherfucker now or I'll do it with my bare hands.

We are sitting on a hill a fair few feet away from my parents' house because it could possibly blow up at any time. Searchingย  the place, we found no bombs or anything so I'm thinking he's bluffing. Why? I don't know. But I intend to find out.

I had some of my men check his location but the tracking device we had is unresponsive. Which most likely means he knows we're watching him. Maybe that's why the bomb hasn't set off.

If he's not here then where the hell is he? What if we were wrong all along?

"Stop overthinking." Ace spoke from beside me.

I turn my head in his direction, narrowing my eyes, "I wasn't." I grumble.

The corners of his mouth lift a little, "You do this-" He places one of his tatted hands on top of my fidgeting ones, "-when this-" He taps my temple gently, "-starts thinking too much."

How does he know me so well? Fucking freak that's why.

I furrow my eyebrows together, "How do you know that?" I look at him skeptically.

"Observations." He says simply.

Amusement bubbles in my throat, "Well, what else have you observed mr Del Rosso?" I tilt my head to the side.

His eyes look into mine intensely, "You don't like talking to people in the mornings. Food and books seem to comfort you. You bite your bottom lip whenever you're trying to hide that pretty smile of yours. The list goes on." He says, his eyes flickering between both of mine.

My mouth parts slightly, confused on how he knows so much about me.

"Damn." I mutter, moving my gaze back down to the house.

He chuckles and gets up from his seat, walking over to one of the vans behind us where Theo is. As soon as Ace left, Alea came over and sat down next to me.

"Thought you weren't gonna fuck him." She says, scoffing.

"I didn't." I say however my voice sounds very unconvincing. Well fuck.

"Sure. What is this then?" She points to a spot on my neck.

"My neck?" I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. The fuck is she on about?

She sighs and takes out her phone from her pocket, handing it to me. Hesitantly, I take her phone and click on the camera. My jaw literally fucking drops seeing the fat ass hickey on my neck. I shove the phone back towards her and storm over to where Ace is, hearing Alea laugh from behind me.

"Asshole! When were you gonna tell me this was here?" I spat out, pointing to the hickey on my neck.

Ace turns his gaze away from the laptop in front of him, a smirk slowly dragging across his lips, "You weren't complaining about it when you were moa-"

I slap the back of his head, glaring at him, "I've been walking around like this and you didn't tell me." I grit out.

"Of course not. I like my marks on you." He says, his gaze burning into mine. "Do you want one on the other side to match darling?"

"I will throw you off this hill. I'm not playing around, Ace."

"Neither am I." He shrugs, licking his lips as his eyes look me up and down.

"Y'all are fucking now? And you didn't invite me, how could you?" Theo says, putting away his laptop as he wipes a fake tear from his eye.

I sigh dramatically, "We'll invite you next time." I joke, patting his shoulder.

Ace sends me a look, wrapping his arm around my waist possessively, "I don't share." He grumbles, glaring at Theo.

"Not even with me?" Theo frowns, sniffling to make us believe his stupid act.

"Especially not with you."

He scoffs, looking over at me with a wide grin on his lips, "I'll take her myself since you wanna be an ass about it."

Ace wraps both of his arms around me, glaring at Theo who smirks at him. I think Theo just really likes to push his buttons. Same though.

I roll my eyes at their childish antics, "I'm not some object you can claim you dumbasses."

They both continue to glare at each other, completing ignore everything I just said so I move back over to where Alea was.

"What the fuck is taking him so long?" I grit out, fucking tired of this bullshit.

We've been waiting around for what feels like hours now and Ivan is yet to show up. Part of me thinks this a bluff. The other part is telling me stay here. But I'm impatient as fuck and he has tested my patience. The only thing holding me back is the fact that this place might blow up at anytime.

"We should wait longer." Alea suggests but I don't want to. I can't just keep waiting around for this fuck to do something.

"Fuck it." I mutter under my breath, walking down the hill, tucking a gun in my waistband.

"River!" She called out from behind but I ignored her.

If he's in there, I want to kill him myself. This may be incredibly stupid of me but I don't give a fuck at this point.

Leaves crunched beneath my feet as I made my way over to the house. Everything was silent. So silent that I could hear my own heavy breathing. Anxiety swirled in my stomach the closer I got to my house.

It's almost too silent.

A twig snapped from the forest beside me so I pointed my gun in that direction but nothing came out.

Silence.

The wind blew on to my face, harshly blowing against my skin, sending chills down my spine.

Silence.

I took a cautious step forward towards the front door. The house was isolated in the forest, no roads, no streets and no cars.

Silence.

"River!" A familiar voice called out to me, echoing into the forest.

In a blink of an eye, I was pushed to the ground, arms were wrapped firmly around my waist, moving me away from the house. I groan from the impact of my head hitting the ground.

Before I could even question what was going on, a loud bang echoed into my ears. Shards of glass flung in our direction along with pieces of bricks and wood. Orange flames shot up into the eerie sky, creating smoke that filled my nose.

Their house is gone. Nothing is left but ashes. The only thing I had left of them was now gone. I force away the tears forming in my eyes because crying wouldn't bring back their house. No matter how much I want to let them out, I won't.

The sound of sizzling filled my ears along with a painful grunt from beside me.

My ears were ringing. The ringing doesn't stop.

My vision is clouded. Weakly, I crawl over to the body beside me.

The ringing doesn't stop.

"Are you hurt?" They rasp, cupping my cheeks with bloody hands. When I finally open my eyes, they connected with a familiar pair of green ones. It's him.

"Ace?" I breathe out, sitting myself upright with a groan. My head is pounding like a motherfucker.

His eyes fight to stay open so I cup his cheeks, shaking him to keep him awake. My eyes move down his torso, finding a piece of glass lodged into his left rib. His face was bloody and so was his body.

I only have a scratch on me. It would've been worse if it weren't for him. My mind couldn't wrap around the fact that he actually saved me.

"Keep your eyes open." I say, putting his head on my lap.

I move my hands down to where the glass is and carefully hold the edge of it. He hisses in pain when I started pulling it out. Once it was out, I threw it to the side and looked down at him to see his eyes closed.

"Ace?" I shake him again, feeling my breathing starting to become heavier. He better not be fucking dead. Only I can kill him.

"Relax, love." He rasps, exhaling through his nose, his eyes remaining closed.

"Talk to me or something. I don't trust you with your eyes closed because you might die on me and I don't want that." I cup his cheeks, stroking the stubble along his sharp jawline.

Slowly, he opens his eyes, they appear hooded from this angle. His lips lift at the corners slightly, "You're cute when you're worried." He teases.

Even when he is bleeding out he still manages to piss me off.

"Piss off." I scoff, rolling my eyes.

He half laughs and half groans, wincing slightly. I furrow my eyebrows, my eyes looking for any other injuries on him.

"Where does it hurt?" I ask him.

"Everywhere." He grunts painfully, his voice hoarse.
I lean down to place a soft kiss on his forehead and his mouth lifts upwards into a lazy grin. "Do I need to be bleeding for you to kiss me again? Are those your terms?" He asks.

"Yes," I say jokingly, "What? Why are you looking at me like that?"

He swallows, "I'm trying to decide where to shoot myself."

My heart skips a beat and a pleasant shiver shocks through to my stomach.

"You're already bleeding out, Ace." I sigh softly.

"It hurts, amore." He complains like a fucking child. If this is his way of making me feel bad for him then it's kinda working.

"Boohoo." I pout exaggeratedly.

"A kiss would make me feel better." He smirks.

I roll my eyes and place another kiss on his forehead just so he will shut his fucking mouth.

He moves his hand away from his rib and I was about to scold him for not applying pressure to his wound until he tucks a loose strand of hair that was on my face behind my ear.

"Krasivaya devushka." He says, his tone more gentler.

(Pretty girl)

"How do I know you're not talking shit about me?" I raise an eyebrow at him.

"It would be in english."

"So if you're not talking shit about me then what are you saying?"

"You want to know?" He asks, gazing up at me from an upside down angle. Even when he's bleeding he still manages to look pretty. I hum in response so he grabs the back of my neck and pulls me down to his level, his lips now next to my ear as he speaks against it, "Fucking bitch." He whispers, releasing my neck.

I look at him to see a smirk plastered across his lips as I glare at him, "Asshole."

His smirk grew, "Never claimed otherwise."

I purposely press on his wound and a groan leaves his mouth, "My bad darling." I smirk as he shoots me a glare.

"I told you not to go over here!" Alea scolds me, walking over with Theo to where me and Ace are.

"I couldn't just wait around."

"You could've died." She sighs, crouching down beside me and side hugging me.

I tense under her touch. It's not that I don't like hugging her. I'm just not use to it.

"I'm fine." I say.

She smiles and releases me as Theo attends to Ace's wound.

"It's really gone." I whisper, staring at the orange flames.

"I know how much that house meant to you, River." Alea says from beside me, squeezing my hand in attempt to comfort me. Yet it did little so easy away the ache in my heart. Anything left of them is gone.

"Take your hands off me." Ace grunts, shoving Theo away from him.

"Unless you wanna die then hold still." Theo scolds him, holding a thread above his wound.

"I'd rather die." He grumbles, sitting himself up with a groan.

"Ace." I sigh, moving over to him. Why does he have to be such a stubborn motherfucker? "Let him do it you dumbass."

"You do it." He says, handing me the thread.

"Why me?"

"I want you to."

Sighing, I take the thread of him and move closer to him so I can stitch his wound better.

"I don't like her." Theo tries to mock Ace by deepening his voice.

Ace sticks his middle finger up at him, wrapping an arm around my waist and squeezing my hip when I start threading the needle through his wound.ย

He didn't even deny it. Strange. I don't think I can deny the fact that I like kissing him, talking to him when he's not an ass, holding him or seeing him smile with those fucking dimples.

He lays his head on my shoulder and watches my hands attend his wound. Even when I'm finished he still doesn't move. And for some reason I don't mind.

His touch seems to distract me from everything. Especially from the fact that I just lost my parents' house.ย  I tried not to think about it. But it's hard when the buildings burning right next to us.
