That was a stupid fucking slip up that'll never happen again. I don't understand why he didn't leave because instead he stayed with me.

I had another nightmare about that night six years ago which lead to a panic attack, something I've been trying to avoid but the universe is against me 24-7. It was like I was drowning and there was no way up but the only thing that managed to save me was his touch.

I don't want to admit it but he helped me.

Water restricted my breathing and the only remedy was Ace. He pulled me back to reality when I was slipping away into the familiar pit of darkness. He was the only source of light there so I reached out to him.

Tomorrow is the day we go to France so everyone's been busy with preparations around the house. I haven't seen Ace since last night which is good because I honestly don't know what I'd say or do. Instead I've been going over last minute plans with Alea about what to do with the mafia whilst I'm gone.

Although I've known her for two years, I didn't exactly trust her. I trust no one in this fucked up world because they only disappoint. She didn't do anything wrong but my mind won't accept her trust.

"Let me know if there's any changes with the downloads." I refer to Ace's plans we are downloading on a USB drive. This is the last download luckily since we've already downloaded the other two.

"Will do boss." Alea playfully salutes me and continues packing away her stuff. "Oh yeah I saw Ace yesterday and let me tell you something girl. The guy is hot." She blurts out, leaning back in her seat with a smirk on her face.

"Thanks for this useless piece of information Alea. Now will you drool over him else where?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

"No but seriously, how have you not fucked him?" She furrows her eyebrows, looking genuinely confused. Hm, I don't know Alea maybe because he's my enemy. Idiot.

"He offered." I shrugged my shoulders with a smug smirk on my face.

"Please tell me you said yes." She pleaded.

"I said no. Why the fuck would I say yes?" I tilt my head to the side, narrowing my eyes at her.

"Because you need a good fuck." A smirk grazed her lips as she eyed me.

"And you think he can fulfil my needs?" I scoffed when she nodded her head rapidly , "No."

She groaned and got up from her seat, walking over to the door with her stuff, "I'll be expecting details."

"Alea we're not going t-"

"Have a safe flight River!" She called out as she walked down the hallways. God this girl.

Sighing I got out of bed and began packing my things for the trip. After grabbing the last of my stuff, I put my suitcase by the door so I won't forget it. I packed a separate bag for all my weapons so it'll be easier to find.

After packing everything I took a shower and got changed into my sweatpants with a hoodie. I was about to flop onto my bed but a loud crash echoed into the halls from outside my room. Instinctively, I grabbed my gun and bolted to the door.

Swiftly I opened the door at the same time Ace did. We both stared at each other in confusion with guns in our hands until another crash was heard. We both snapped our heads in the direction the sound was coming from and cautiously walked towards it. Ace was in front of me holding his gun with both hands as we rounded the corner of the hall.

He held his hand out, stopping me from moving any further as he peered round the corner. Despite his firm grip around my waist, I peered round the corner to see two masked men fully armed entering the house from a window.

"Do you pay your guards for nothing?" I whispered yelled, glaring at him.Β

"Shut the fuck up or I'll use you for bait." He whispered yelled and shot me a cold glare.

"Try me Del Rosso." I seethed.

Ace swiftly turned around and grabbed my hips, pushing me out of the corner. The masked mens attention suddenly snapped towards me as I stood there awkwardly, debating whether to run or attack.

"I suggest you run." I smirked and sauntered over to them, loading my gun.

"Not until we have what we want." One of them gritted out, cracking their knuckles as the other man loaded his gun.

"What do you want?" I tilted my head to the side and aimed my gun at them.

"The Don." He chuckled and took quick strides towards me.

"Sure. Here he is. All I ask for you is to not bring him back." I grabbed Aces collar and pulled him to my side, grinning innocently when he shot me a glare.

"What. Is wrong with you?" He gritted out angrily, clenching his jaw.

"You." I shrugged my shoulders and pushed him in front of me.

"Ace Del Rosso." The masked men chuckled sinisterly, coming closer towards Ace.

"We know who he is. Take him or not." I scoffed, rolling my eyes as I played with the gun in my hands.

Ace rolled his eyes just as the guy threw a punch to his face but he was quick to catch his fist in his hand. He tilted his head to the side, smirking at the guy when he winced from his firm grip around his fist.

With his other hand, Ace's fist collided with the man's jaw causing his face to twist to the side as he groaned in pain. Crimson red blood spewed out of the guys mask with just one punch from the fucker. Damn.

I was too focused on the fight to no even realise the other guy coming up from behind me until his arm wrapped around my neck. The cold metal of his gun was pressed against my temple as he covered my mouth with his gloved hand.

I rolled my eyes and squirmed in his grip, trying to set myself free but since he's such a fatass it didn't help. My screams were muffled by his hand as he pressed the gun further into my temple.

"Not a word." He whispered harshly into my ear, smirking at me making me throw up in my mouth. Someone give this guy a breath mint before I die.

I shot him a glare as I elbowed his stomach making him groan in pain although his grip didn't loosen. I would've shot him by now if my gun didn't fucking fall out of my hand. Stupid thing.

Ace kicked the guy, instantly knocking him unconscious as he breathedΒ  heavily through his blood stained mouth. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand as sweat dripped down his face and the bulging veins along his arms and hands.

His hardened gaze locked with mine as soon as he lifted his head up from the body on the ground. I watched his jaw tick at the sight of the gun pressed against my temple and I silently communicated with him through my eyes, telling him to distract the guy.

"Let her go." Ace's authoritative voice boomed across the hall. His fists clenched my his sides as he sauntered over to us. I silently thanked God that he understood what I was trying to say as I discretely grabbed my pocket knife from my waistband.

"Take another step and I'll kill her." The man gritted out and stepped back, dragging me with him. Pussy.

What if I bite his hand? Ew no actually.

Unless- Stop River.

"Be my guest man." Ace grumbled, rolling his eyes as I shot him a glare to which he smirked at.

I could tell the man was confused but he tightened his grip around me as I desperately tried to take my knife out.

"I'm not fucking playing. I either kill you or her." The man spat out angrily. Timbers have been shivered.

Ace smirked at the man and stepped forward hastily. "How about you?" Just then I stabbed the man's stomach which made him groan in pain as he released my from his grip.

I coughed continuously, trying to catch my breath as I leaned against the wall for support. Ace grabbed the mans collar and punched his jaw repeatedly until he passed out onto the floor. He dragged the man back to other other body and took of their masks, revealing two unfamiliar faces.

"The Russians." Ace scoffed, glaring at the matching neck tattoos they had.

"How'd you know?" I rasped, running a hand down my face.

"They both have this symbol on their necks." He gestured towards the random scribbles on their necks.

I slumped against the wall and put my head on my knees, drained the fuck out. Being part of the mafia means there's no fucking breaks. Enemies will come at you from left, right and centre to the point where I might as well let them kill me. It's tiring. I didn't want this life but I get what I'm given.

A gaze burned at the top of my head so I lifted my head up, resting my chin on my knees as my lidded eyes met a pair of emerald ones. His eyes flashed with something I couldn't put my finger on.

"What?" I grumbled, glaring at him for staring at me like the creep he is.

He sauntered over to me and crouched down to my level, making direct eye contact with me as he mumbled quietly in the space between us. "You're bleeding." He gestured towards the gash on my forehead that I didn't even know was there. Stupid gun.

I ran my finger over the gash and blood stained the tip of my fingers. "So are you." I sighed deeply and closed my eyes, not having the energy to do anything.

Ace held my hand and lifted me off the ground suddenly and dragged me to God knows where. I stared at our intertwined hands the entire walk, mesmerised by the dark ink covering his skin. His hands were cold to the touch yet somehow they were warm against mine.

My mind was clouded with emptiness that kept me prisoner in its torture. I just want the pain to go. I don't want to have to keep fearing for my own life every waking moment of my life. One day I'll stop fearing for it and let the demons finally take me away. One day I'll stop fighting back.

I was too lost in thought to even realise Ace lifting me onto a cold sink top until his hands held my hips firmly. His hands slowly moved from my hips to my thighs then to my knees, leaving a heat trail wherever they touched until they were gone. Something in my stomach broke from the contact. An unfamiliar feeling.

I stared at him blankly as he shuffled around his bathroom drawer, seeming to be looking for something. When he turned back round, my eyes drifted down to the first aid kit in his hands as he walked back over to me.

His green eyes bored into mine as he stood in front of me. Those eyes always seem to lock me in it's gaze effortlessly.

I opened my legs for him so he could have better access and he hesitantly stepped closer. So close that I could see into the depths of his forest green eyes that I could get lost in. He still had some dried up blood on his face and his hair is slightly damp as it lapped over this forehead in a mess but the faint smell of his cologne was still evident.

His hands made their way to my thighs again and with a small tug he pulled me closer to him. His minty breath fanned against my forehead slightly as he moved one of his hands to my chin, tilting it to the side so he could see my gash better.

Gently, he brushed the hair away from my forehead and grabbed a thread and a needle from the first aid box. My eyes widened slightly at the sight since I fucking hate needles.

After noticing my reaction, he chuckled lowly so I shot him a glare. "Don't tell me you're scared of needles Arccadi." He teased, preparing the needle.

"Shut up." I grumbled, glaring up at him.

He smirked, shaking his head slightly, "Hold onto something."

"Your fucking neck?" I gritted out.

He stared at me unamused as he sighed deeply, "Hold my shoulder."

I sighed and gripped onto his shoulder as he brought the needle up to my forehead. "Ready?" I nodded my head in response so he carefully stitched up my wound. This hurts like a motherfucker.

I winced slightly and squeezed the shit out of his shoulder but he doesn't seem to mind as he skilfully threads the needle through my wound.

"I fucking hate you Ace." I gritted out in pain, biting my bottom lip as the sting shocked through my body.

Ace rolled his eyes, "I hate you too darling." He sighed and finished stitching me up making me breathe a sigh of relief. Thank fuck.
