𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐔𝐄

"Aye pass me that." A 10 Year old Taurus Potts demanded and Masiah threw him the football. I watched Taurus as he tossed the ball hand-to-hand . He very focused, he glanced at me as I clutched onto my teddy bear I always kept with me.

Taurus was the only real friend I had in this neighborhood. My daddy made us move because someone had a hit out on my momma and I guess they caught her, I watched them take her life before my eyes.

"One day, imma be a famous football player..." Taurus nodded launching the ball back to Masiah and I looked at him sideways. "What?"

"What you wanna play football for?" I frowned my face up swinging my legs while I sat on the park bench that was in the feild of our apartment complex .

He sighed and rubbed his face "That's what I wanna do." He shrugged and caught the ball once again ."One day, imma move outta the hood. You gone move wit' me. And we gone move to somewhere nice with a big house." He smiled. 

"What if I don't wanna move with you?"

"Imma still make sure you don't want fo' none." He held his pinky out to me. "Promise you gone be my bestfriend forever — through whatever."

"I promise."

I sat on the top of the slide while Taurus played football with the other boys on the field. I really didn't have anyone to talk to when he left me alone. My big sister never talked to me .

She just stays in the house, when daddy not there she be inviting boys over, she only 12 . I don't know why she feel like she grown. But I just try to mind my business.

"Hey." A lightskin girl waved at me and I looked up squinting due to the sun shining. I glanced behind her seeing another girl standing there. They we're both smiling.

I wish I was pretty like them...

"Hi." I replied dryly looking down at my bear expecting them to just walk away.  

"What's your name?" The girl to her left asked me.

"N'Ace."

"You don't have to be shy N'Ace, we just wanna be friends with you. I'm Promise, and this is Kashayla." We shook hands .

"How old are you?"Kashayla added.

"I'm nine."

"We are too." They both said at the same time and I smiled. 

"Do you have a bestfriend?" Promise asked me and I nodded my head.

"I have a boy bestfriend...he's over there." I pointed to Taurus and they looked at him then back at me.

"Oh, that's my brothers friend..do you want a girl bestfriend?"

"I guess.." I shrugged pushing some hair behind my ear .

"You can be our girl best-friend."

Ion think that's how it works... but ok. 

I nodded and Promise held her hand out helping me up and we started playing .

-and that's just the beginning
