(Sorry this chapter is a little short)

After school that evening, you took a detour from your usual path to hide from Kaigaku in the gym. Whatever sports team was in there wouldn't mind just one straggler huddling up underneath the bleachers so it was worth the effort

While playing games on your phone, though, someone still managed to track you down

Funnily enough, it was the person you'd least expected to do this

"Special delivery for a moron!!" A taunting male voice called

You huddled up tighter hoping to not be seen

All that did was cause the speaker to stand over you with their arms crossed impatiently

"AHEM." gyutaru cleared his throat, tapping your back with his foot

You jumped up to glare at him "HEY! Go torment somebody else."

"Relax." Gyutaru says flatly "I'm just following sister's orders. You know how that lady is"

He opens his palm and a flat envelope flutters out, drifting softly to the ground in front of you

"This is yours. Says it's from that girl that you were looking for a few weeks ago..."

You dove to grab the envelope off the ground

"I'm not exactly sure how my little sis got this," Gyutaru admitted "but it doesn't concern me, so don't thank meโ€”I don't care."

In your hands now sat a neatly sealed, pale pink envelope with your name slapped right on it.

This shit looks like another love letter! Gross! You blushed heavily at it

"Thโ€”err.." you stopped yourself before you could thank him "good to see you. Glad the letter made it to me safely."

"Whatever.." he grumbles and walks off

You stared at the envelope. Honestly you doubt that Makomo would send you another love letter after the first, especially with how distant the two of you are now

It still feels deja vu you thought while skipping the envelope into your sweater pocket I'll read this as soon as I get home.

Friday night

You lay on your side with your bed covers wrapped tightly around you, clutching your phone in your hands

The tiny phone screen illuminated a blank expression on your face in the dark

I'm going to do it...I'm going to text him.

Your finger hovers over Sabito's contact

Before you know it, you're texting him

You: hey. They found Makomo.

He doesn't text back right away, which seemed unusual for him. You felt a pang of guilt remembering that the last text message he'd sent you was a sincere request to talk.

You: give me a call when you can, okay? I miss you.

You roll onto your back with a long, defeated sigh.

Your vision begins to blur as your eyes defocus and your heart beat slows down a bit. You feel like you're sinking again, that feeling when you feel like you're trapped in quicksandโ€”but instead of mud, it's regret. If only you'd texted him when you had the chance.

"(Y/N)..!"

You sat up quickly in your bed and clutched the edges of your blanket tight to your chest "yes, dad?"

Your dad peeks into the room. You can see a smile forming on his face from the hallway light behind him

"You're never gonna believe it." He said

Is this some kind of joke?

"Dad, Im not really in the mood for jokes tonight.." you frowned

"What? Don't be silly," he chuckled "I just wanted to tell you that your favorite person in the whole world is coming home tomorrow!"

Your heart skips a beat "s...sa..?"

"Yup, Sabito. He's checking out of the hospital. They said he's doing so much better now."

You clap your hands over your mouth in shock. You didn't even have a chance to stop them before tears are running down your cheeks

"Hes gonna be okay. You don't have to worry anymore."

You fall back into the bed with a long and relieved sigh. You don't even have the energy to get up and start dancing around with glee. This confused your parents a little but they decided to leave you be

Without even thinking, you drifted off into sleep, as If your body had been so tense because you were waiting for Sabito to get better before you could.

By that point you forgot completely about the pink envelope
