Listened to this while writing and I thought I would share that with ya UvU

Also—I had no idea there were so many Sabito fans in here!! So take this chapter as me throwing you guys a bone cause he rlly does not get enough love in fanfics

Getting to the hospital this time around felt so much easier. Knowing that Sabito has lived another day brings a huge weight off of your shoulders.

Your dad looks down at you with a soft smile as the two of you enter the buildings. You tilt your head back blissfully, enjoying the familiar hiss of the electric doors sliding open, combined with the feeling of the icy air from the vents

I can't wait to see him--I can't wait to tell him what I found, too. He'll be so impressed

"You seem a little more relaxed this time around." Dad says

you look at him quizzically at what he's said "Is that abnormal?"

"Well," he shrugged "These days, it is. I'm just glad to see you're finally smiling a little bit."

I'm smiling??

you place a hand on your cheek and feel the warmth coming to your face

"Yeah..." you murmur

The two of you walk up to the front desk and your dad checks you in

"Are you really okay with taking the bus back home tonight? It's not safe" Dad comments while writing something on a clipboard

You perk up at his words "Yeah, it's fine. I haven't been able to spend time with him, so.."

"It's only been two days!" your dad laughs and hands the clipboard back to the desk lady

you shrug dismissively

"Alright. Well, go have fun" he says before walking away. You watch him until the very moment he enters the car outside, and then rush to the elevator to get to Sabito

Remember, this isn't romantic...I'm just checking on him

I still haven't decided yet, so

It isn't like that.

You inhale deeply outside of the door to the room Sabito was in, bracing yourself to turn the handle on the door

Then when you exhaled you pushed it open quietly, clutching your backpack strap anxiously in the other hand

"Sabito?" you lowered your voice as you stepped into the dimly lit room

He sat up slowly, shaking out his messy peach-colored hair

"Present." He says, raising his hand jokingly

"Oh my god shut up" you squashed a smile at him, and he gave you a satisfied half smile in return

You set the backpack off to the side and sat down at the edge of the bed

"Wow, you actually brought it" He said, eyeing the backpack

"It's almost as if...I actually listen to you!" you teased

He blushed a light pink, placing his hand on the back of his neck. You were surprised--it wasn't the kind of reaction you expected

"Thanks." he said awkwardly

You both went silent, but refused to look each other in the eye

"Oh! Hey, I actually have something for you..." Sabito said

you perk up at the mention of a gift and tilt your head at him

The peach-haired boy lifted the covers of his bed and reached around underneath, then pulled out a small stuffed rabbit. It looked brand new, and clean; it must've just been bought recently.

"I-I don't play with toys anymore Sabito!" you stammered

"Well...neither do I," he smirked "so then I guess I'll just take its eyeballs out or something--"

that seemed to work. You rush forward to snatch the thing from him, and he tries not to laugh

"YOU MONSTER!" You exclaimed "who even let you get ahold of a precious thing like this?!"

Sabito leaned back against the wall, watching the toy in your hands

"The nurse gave it to me. I take it that's a good sign." He replied with a more hopeful tone in his voice.

You both went quiet again and you pulled the stuffed animal closer to your chest

Damn it...

"You know, Sabito," you sigh "The entire car ride here...I thought of things I wanted to say to you. There were so many things. And now it's all just, gone."

He tilted his head slightly at you

"It's fine. I don't have that much to talk about either. I've been here all day, really."

Suddenly, Sabito starts to get out of the bed, which startles you out of your thoughts

"Well. You're bored, I'm bored, so," he yawned and stretched his arms over his head "let's go out."

You sit upright quickly "Right now?!"

"yeah." Sabito replied plainly and unzipped the backpack on the floor with his clothes in it

You watch him take the clothes out with wide eyes

"Like, right-this-second right now??" You asked again. You knew what he said--but what did he really mean?

"Yes." Sabito started to take off his hospital gown, then cast a glance down at you "turn around."

"WHA--" With a sharp inhale, you turn quickly and shove your face into your hands.

"--JEEZ! GO TO THE BATHROOM" Your skin grew hot with embarrassment and you exhaled to try and stay calm

You can't see him, but you hear the gown fall to the floor. You then listened carefully as he stepped towards the other corner of the room to change.

"It's fine," Sabito said from where he was standing "I'll be quick about it."

You'd better! I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea..

You heard a bit more shuffling around, and then he spoke up again

"You can look now. See? That was fast, right?" Sabito grinned

you turn around to look at him and giggle into your hand at how your clothes fit on him. Since you had to choose the outfit, you chose some baggy jeans and a tight shirt; but it ended up just making him look like he was wearing some girl's clothes.

"We are definitely not the same size" You mutter in amusement

"I'll say!" Sabito scoffed playfully, heading towards the door

You rush to stop him before he can step outside "wait! We need to be strategic about this..."

He raised his eyebrows at you in amusement

"What?!" You scoff

"nothing. Just, you sounded smart for a minute there." He teased

"You bitch!" You laughed "Just shut up and follow my lead"

"Lead the way." He chimed in

When it fell silent again, you opened the door slowly and looked around

there were a lot of nurses scattered around the hallway, but none were interested in checking on Sabito. You step out into the open and pull him along behind you as you walk against the wall

Then, you turned a corner and went straight for the nearest elevator. The two of you walked right past security; but they had no way to know that he was actually a patient, since he'd changed his clothes.

It was so hard holding a straight face that when the two of you were finally alone in the elevator, you started to laugh

"This is brilliant!" You snickered

"Isn't it?" Sabito agreed, pressing the button for the first floor

"So where are we going?" You wonder

"...I'll think of something." Sabito averted his gaze to the elevator door

Hmm..a surprise? Alright.

When you make it to the first floor, you guys rush to get out of the elevator and head for the back exit, giggling amongst yourselves

This kind of thing—sneaking your friend out of the hospital—was the last thing you should be doing right now. But it felt right in that moment.

The doors slammed shut behind you and you emerged into the cool night air with a soft sigh

"How are we gonna get you back in??" You ask, still smiling

Sabito ponders your question, then shrugs

"Let's not think about that yet." He offered "I...would rather just enjoy this moment"

"Same" you admit, walking him around the side of the building

Sabito stops in his tracks, holding you back with him

You look back at him questioningly

"Let me lead from here." Sabito said

Your face flushed as he took your hand. You tried to think of something to say, but nothing came to mind.

"And be careful. It's dark." He added

"Okay..." you mumble in response

While the two of you walked together, you could swear you felt his pulse. It was almost like his heart was in your hand

You lean into him a bit, resting the side of your face on his shoulder

I hope you know that I like you, Sabito. But I just can't think about dating right now...

The two of you stopped in front of a convenience store and strode past the doors to look around at all the snacks

He let go of your hand to wander off into another isle and you were surprised at how disappointed you were

"Oh shit, (Y/N)! Comere!" Sabito called

You rushed around the corner at his words to see him standing in front of a slushee machine with his hands on his hips.

You peeked around him to get a look at his face and saw his eyes lighting up at the blue and red liquid swirling in the machine

You then watched him grab the biggest cup he could find and start mixing as much as possible

"Hey—don't mix ALL the flavors!" You warn him "That's just gonna make it gross"

"No trust me, I'm a veteran" Sabito insists

You gave him a look of skepticism and crossed your arms while he continued doing his thing

"It's gonna be really...gross." You mumble

Sabito stuck a straw in the cup and held the drink out for you to taste

"Lighten up, (Y/n)," he mused "you'll like it."

You bent towards him to take a sip, and swished it around in your mouth a few times to really get into it

He's right!

"Yeah. It's good, I know." He boasted "you don't have to tell me"

You didn't respond. Instead, you wandered off to pick up some candy for the trip back and then head to the cash register to pay

When everything was paid for, the two of you walked out into the open again and eventually found a spot to sit away from people

The silence was nice. It allowed you to better enjoy your snack

Sabito looked down at you suddenly with a half smile, looking like he's about to say something suspicious

"Hey, if we kissed, what color do you think our tongues would be?" He asked non chalantly

You look back at him with a flustered expression

"T-they would be purple...I think" you reply

He stifled a laugh at your reaction

"Why would you ask something like that anyways?!" You counter

"Because it was a trick question. We're both sharing the same drink anyways"

You swatted at him playfully and he laughed

"I mean, unless you want to prove it false." He dared

Prove...it?!

Your shoulders stiffen at the thought

"What like...prove they'd be a different color?" You mumble awkwardly

"Duh" he replied in a tone of amusement

You dug your nails into your palm anxiously. For some reason, it's really hard for you to comprehend that this is happening

"Are you daring me to kiss you?" You asked, lowering your voice to a whisper

He shifts to face you, setting the drink aside

"Am I?" He says

You raise the cup to your mouth and take a big gulp of the drink, unable to keep eye contact while you do

Am I really going to do this??

"Don't do it if you don't want to." Sabito commented, watching you try to muster up the courage

I am...I really am

You looked up and sidled up closer to him. Your heart is now pounding in your chest, and you can feel yourself becoming lightheaded with excitement

"Close your eyes." You mumble

Reluctantly, he closed his eyes, and you did too

You can feel his chest brush against yours as he leans closer to you. As much as you want to close the gap, you don't even know how

His lips rest gently at yours now

You've barely made contact but it feels like even getting this close is going to change your relationship with him forever

There is a short pause, and then, he leans around you to plant a gentle kiss on your cheek

Your eyes shot open and met his when he pulled away

"...why did you stop?" You blurt out before you can think

He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair

"I can't kiss you knowing you aren't ready."

You touch the spot on your cheek lightly with your fingertips

"I shouldn't have dared you to do that," he added "I'm sorry."

"It's okay!" You assure him hurriedly

"...It was only a little selfish" you hide a coy smile while he starts paying attention to a bag of candy in his hand

"I'm pretty selfish when it comes to you." He admitted plainly

You blush and turn on your phone to distract yourself

"Don't be creepy, Sabito." You joke
