"Seven-Thirty Nine is your total." The cashier said. I took out a ten dollar bill while he bagged my snacks and gave it to him.

"I told you not to do that shit and what you do? You did that shit." I heard a dude say which made me turn my head.

There were two dudes on the isle going back and forth but they seemed to be friends. I turned my attention back to the front.

"Shut the fuck up and go."

"Here's your change." The cashier said.

"Thank you." I smiled. I turned around to walk out but I bumped into one of the dudes. Specifically the second voice I heard.

"Oh shit my fault."

"Sorry." I said at the same time and he looked me up and down.

"This nigga here." The other one mumbled before I walked out about to go to my car. Hearing other guys trying to get my attention I kept walking to ignore them.

Once I got in my car I watched the two come out the store and join the group of dudes in front of the corner store. My phone rung snapping me out of it.

"Hello?" I answered seeing that it was my boss, Regina.

"I need you to come to my office you've been assigned to different assignment." Was all she said before hanging up.

...

After going home to change into work attire I made my way to the building. I work as an undercover so it's like living a double life. Sometimes I can be on one assignment for more than a year trying to catch someone. It makes me feel like i'm battling my true self at times.

"Ryleigh this is S.A Nick Hernandez and S.A Jordyn Wilson, they'll be assisting you on this assignment." My boss said before we all sat down.

"This is the person we're targeting. Twenty- One year old Jahveir Armani, but he's known as Mahzi in the neighborhood." She showed a picture and I immediately recognized him as the dude I bumped into.

"We've had trouble with him before, he's a drug dealer." Hernandez said.

"True but that's not what we're targeting him for. Four people have come up dead the same way. They have no type of significance with each other, different lifestyles, paths would've never crossed but what we did find out is that all of them came into contact with Mr. Armani." She said.

"Came into contact with him how?" I asked.

"That's what we need for you to find out. They each had a contact in their phone and we traced it back to him." She explained.

It didn't make sense to me. With the record he has he would've been more careful then to end up having a contact traced back to him. He's doing it on purpose but i'm not gonna say anything yet. And neither was I going to say I met him earlier.

"More people will come up dead if we don't catch him, we just need enough evidence." She nodded at the other two people causing for them to get up and leave.

"So I have to get close to him to the point where he snitches on himself?" I asked.

"It'll be easy he has no real family, he's vulnerable. The closest person he had was his 16 year old brother that died a few months ago. He has no mother or father." She said.

"How did he die?" I asked.

"Caught in a crossfire, he died in his arms. The only people close to family that he had is his friends. He has more relatives but we don't know the bond yet." She said.

"I don't think I can do this assignment. Like you said he's vulnerable, last thing he needs is a girl in his life that's working for the other side. And because of who is and who he surrounds himself with, If I get caught my life will be in danger." I stressed. It would feel like I was taking advantage of him.

"You signed up for this job, your life is in danger everyday." She said. "Listen Ryleigh you have to learn to separate your emotions from this job. You know I'll never let anything to happen, I made that promise to your parents and I stand by it." She said moving the folder towards me.

Both my parents died when i was 7 years old. Regina worked with the FBI alongside my father and took me in when they passed since no one else would.

"Okay."

I grabbed the folder and wasted no time getting out of there. I honestly don't want to do this but she's right, I signed up for it so it's expected.

"I'm not finna be no damn neighborhood watch, I know where they be at." I mumbled.

"He walking around claiming shit like he did that for real." Toota said.

"Nah I know exactly who did that shit." I chuckled lighting up my blunt as I heard people walking in.

"Where the fuck is Mahzi?" Tiara yelled throughout the house.

"She finna be on yo ass." Minx laughed and I just shook my head as she walked in wit her homegirls.

"You didn't see me blowing up your phone?" She stood in front of me.

"You finna blow my high already and I ain't even hit the shit yet."

"Answer my question."

"Come outside." I nodded to the door before moving her in front of me. Ion like nobody in my business no matter who you is. She attention seeking and Ian finna feed into that shit.

"Why you keep ignoring me Mahzi?"

"I'm not ignoring you my phone been on dnd and silent all day."

"Mhm." She rolled her eyes.

"If you think i'm lying that's you." I said.

"Because you think i'm dumb that's your excuse every time." She folded her arms.

"Fuck I gotta lie to you for you not even my girl if my shit on dnd it's on dnd. Fuck outta here wit all that for real."

"So what you tryna say?" She asked.

"You bothering me bout a phone call, popped up to my shit bout a phone and we not together I don't know what else to tell you Tiara. You tryna make a problem." I said. "Questioning me like you my PO or some." I mumbled.

Tiara was just somebody I fuck around wit from time to time. It's nothing serious.

"But when I miss one of yo' calls you do the most too." She said.

"No I don't, I ask why you ain't answer and leave it at that I don't track yo' crazy ass down." I said.

"Well how bout this you don't have to worry about me no more i'm not finna keep following up on mixed signals." She said.

"Bet that up then." I shrugged getting in my car to leave. It was late at night and I was tryna get high but she was doing too much.

I decided to go inside American Deli to get me some to eat. I was craving they wings right now.

When I pulled up, I walked in and ordered my food.

"We'll call your order up when it's finished." She said I nodded turning out spotting the girl I bumped into earlier.

She was too busy on her phone to notice I walked in So I sat down in front of her. She was fine as fuck but I can tell she come off as the quiet type.

"I ain't never seen you before now all of the sudden you popping up where i'm at." I said making my presence known and she looked up.

"I was here first so technically you popping up where i'm at." She mumbled.

"Mm." I said getting on my phone.

"Do you always bother strangers?"

"Am I bothering you?" I asked.

"No." She said.

"Ight then." I said and the lady called up both our orders at the same time grabbing our attention.

"Hollon' you not gone give me a name?" I looked at her.

"Amari." She grabbed her food and I held the door open for her.

"You gone let me know some?" I asked.

"Let you know what?" We stood outside.

"Can start by letting me get your number." I said and she looked at me.

"I'll give you my instagram, Ion know about all that." She said.

"You talkin bout some instagram like we in school or some shit,Let me see yo' phone." I said and she gave it to me.

I searched up my instagram before following myself then I went to her contacts adding my number and seeing her number as well at the top.

"It take you that long to find yo' instagram?" She asked.

"Mind yo' business, hm." I gave her back her phone.

"I don't even know your name." She said.

"Check yo' phone." I chuckled walking off.
