A month passes and things go as smoothly as they possibly can. Not much changes between you and Toji. Your interactions are as awkward as always because things are changing.

Toji is cordial with you, and you meet that sentiment with awkwardness. It's because you like Toji, you've come to that realization and there isn't any point in denying it because it won't make the feeling go away. You don't understand where this sudden change came from, you just came to the realization one morning. You feel like you'll make it so obvious with such a simple conversation and you don't want to ruin everything just when they've started to work out. Plus you won't lie and say that you don't feel a bit insecure considering all the bad comments he has made.

Liking him also feels wrong because neither of you wanted this marriage in the first place. Liking him and starting a relationship with him would make you feel as if you're proving your father and Naobito right in some sense. Not to mention the fact that Toji tried to kill you the night before your wedding– Or even mention his horrible treatment through the first few months that later changed into some weird projection.

You just don't think you'd be able to have a relationship with him, so this awkwardness takes over and will take over until this little crush of yours dies down. And it feels like it'll never die down because you see him everyday, whether you like it or not.

"What are we going to do for the rest of the day, Megumi?" You ask the baby that you hold in your arms. You finished cleaning the house and the preparations for dinner. There's no other chore for you to do in the place, and the house is empty as well. Toji's at work and Misaki at school, and soon enough they'll come. But for now you have nothing to do. "How about we watch some TV?"

You sit down on the couch and turn on the TV, putting on some show for Megumi. They bore you so much but as much as you'd love playing with Megumi all day long, you get tired and need a break. The best break possible is putting him down, putting a show that he can entertain himself with while you just sit and scroll through your phone. Being a housewife is more exhausting than you thought. And you still have so much to do after Toji and Misaki come home.

But Megumi isn't focused on his show today. When you put him down on the floor, he's quick to tap your leg– More like slap your leg. You pick him up, sitting him down on your lap. "What's wrong, my love? Is your show not interesting or do you just want to be close to your mommy?"

He then focuses on the TV while sitting on your lap, and since he's very calm you don't mind. You're mindful of what you open up on your phone since he'd manage to see it. You both entertain yourselves for a bit until you hear the front door open, your sweet daughter's voice filling the house.

"Mommy!" She yells, causing a smile to appear on Megumi's face following with a giggle. He adores Misaki so much, and that voice belongs to her. You put him down on the floor so he can walk, while you stand up and follow behind to see your daughter. She finally walks to the living room and she meets Megumi halfway, attempting to pick him up but he's just too big for her. Instead she kisses his cheek.

You bend down to kiss her forehead, then her cheek. "How was your day, Misaki?"

"Good." She keeps her answer brief. She usually tells you more about her day at dinner, but lately she's been talking about her upcoming birthday instead of her school day, so you're not getting much from that. Her birthday is in a couple of days and her friends along with parents are invited to her party.

"Where's your dad?" You ask, and she shrugs. Toji opened the door for her and walked back to the car, and she didn't bother to look much. "Alright, baby, go to your room and change. I made some yummy food for you."

"No broccoli this time?" She questions, making you chuckle.

"Baby, broccoli is good for you. It's really good too. I love it. Toji loves it. Even Megumi loves it." You tell her. She doesn't say anything else before walking away to the stairs. Megumi tries to follow her but you pick him up, causing him to whine.

"She'll come back down soon, Megumi." You say. You go back to sit down on the couch, since you have no reason to wait standing up for Toji. He's taking his sweet time.

Toji walks into the home and your eyes quickly look at him when he gets to the living room. He looks so exhausted after what felt like a very long day at work. But that's not what catches your attention.

"What's that?" You question, putting Megumi on the floor.

"For you." Toji responds. You stand up and walk to him, taking the bouquet of lilies from him. You wonder where this came from, not that you mind.

"Uh... Thank you." You reply, feeling your cheeks get warm. You look down at the ground, avoiding looking at his face. Toji wanted to say something, but he can see how awkward you look, that maybe it isn't right to say. It slips his mind and he stays quiet.

"I- I hope you like them." He manages to say.

"I do, thank you." You answer. The place is quiet for a couple of seconds before you clear your throat. "So, um... Do you really think she would've liked lilies?"

"She did. But her favorite was tulips." He tells you. "I just asked you because I didn't know how else to ask."

"Thank you-" You repeat, but before you can properly finish your sentence, Misaki comes downstairs.

"I have some homework today." She announces as she walks to the table.

"Really? What is it, honey?" Toji asks, picking up Megumi from the ground to kiss the baby's forehead before following Misaki to the table. Toji usually eats with his baby sitting on his lap, and the little glutton almost eats half of his father's food.

"Writing numbers." She responds. You know you'll struggle with helping her write. She's been learning the numbers zero through five, and the only one she excels in is "1". But it's something completely new to her so there's no point in getting upset. You remember your own mother helping you out and being patient with you as you struggled. "Numbers zero through three."

"That's not too much." You tell her, setting down her food in front of her.

"Thank you!" She tells you when she receives the food. You walk back to the kitchen to get Toji's plate as well. He thanks you as well when you give him the food.

"How many times do you have to write them?" You ask her, knowing that they didn't leave her so little homework for no reason.

"Twenty." She responds and you nearly gasp and fall onto the floor just thinking about sitting on the table for the rest of the afternoon to do that. You manage to uphold your composure.

"Twenty? Each?" You question, hoping that it's just five times each number that in total it comes out to twenty.

"Yes." She answers. Toji notices your expression, one that you're trying to hide but fail miserably. He clears his throat.

"I can help you with your homework today, Misaki." He tells her, and Misaki doesn't mind. She shrugs and continues eating her food.

"For my birthday, I want-" She begins but she chews on her food. She remembers halfway through her sentence that she shouldn't speak while there's food in her mouth, so she finishes and swallows before speaking again, "I want a castle."

"A castle?" You question. Misaki isn't usually demanding and hard to please but as she gets older she realizes what she wants more and voices it. That, or the fact that Toji assured her that he'll get her anything and everything she wants for her birthday. You don't mind as long as it's plausible.

"That can be arranged, right?" Toji responds, looking at you.

"Uh... Sure..."

-

After a very exhausting day for both you and Toji, the kids are put to bed. You go downstairs to finish cleaning up the living room and kitchen, and weirdly enough, Toji follows. You don't understand why, but maybe he needs water or some snack before locking himself in his room.

You begin in the living room, picking up some toys that are scattered around. Toji begins to help, which is surprising since he never really helps you with cleaning. Toji rarely helps around the house. He does his own laundry and cleans his own room, but that's it. So if he's helping you, he must want something.

"So... Um..." He begins, and you don't care to stop what you're doing to hear him out. You continue collecting the toys, while also finding socks that Megumi always manages to take off. "What does she mean by a castle?"

"I don't know. Just a bounce house or a dollhouse." You answer. He sighs, guessing that's it. It's not like he can access a castle so his daughter can have a birthday party. Even the Zenins wouldn't be able to help.

"She's started calling me dad again." Toji shares, holding back the biggest smile. "She said it yesterday in the car and I thought it was a slip up but she said it again today. Twice."

"That's nice." You say, hoping that cuts conversation. You're not in the mood to talk too much. You're never in the mood to talk too much to him at least. You have nothing else to pick up in the living room so you walk to the kitchen. He follows behind.

"May I ask why you're so... awkward?" He speaks, and you stop walking for a second. How do you respond to that? You don't want to tell him the truth. "Me?" You awkwardly laugh, unsure what to say. "Awkward? Definitely not."

"Don't say that because you know you have been." He says. You begin to clean the kitchen, hoping he'll give up and drop the subject. But he doesn't. "Have I done something wrong?"

"No, you haven't done anything wrong." You answer.

"Then why do you act so awkward around me? I'm really trying here and it just feels useless." He tells you.

"Is there really a point to this? We'll go our separate ways eventually." You respond, making a sigh leave his lips.

"When? That's going to take some time. Wouldn't you rather for us to get along the time that we're together. Plus, we can always stay as friends afterwards." Toji argues. "Just tell me what I've done wrong so I can apologize and we can form some sort of relationship."

"You've done nothing wrong." You repeat. Your back is to him, not being able to look at his face. He insists, receiving the same answer over and over again.

"Don't say there's nothing wrong when there clearly is!" His hand lands on your shoulder and he turns you around. His facial expression makes him look worried. A mix with irritation because having to go back-and-forth over a problem that you keep denying that exists. "If I've done nothing wrong then what have you done wrong, because this behavior of yours isn't normal."

You're silent. You don't know what to say. You just know your heart is pounding and having him so close to you doesn't do you any good. Your mind is beginning to get hazy, any reasoning slowly leaving you.

"Please tell me." His voice is low as those words leave his lips. You inhale and hold your breath, lightly biting down your lip, your eyes averting to the floor. His hand goes under your chin and he tilts it up to make you look at him. Your face gets warm as you look at him.

"I'm the one who's done something wrong, Toji." You tell him.

"What?" He questions. Your eyes fall on his lips. You look back and forth between them and his gaze. "What have you done wrong?"

"I-" It feels absurd to say. Your common sense leaves your body before you confess, "I like you, Toji."

He stays quiet, and you feel your heart drop. You don't know why, it's not like you expect some sort of confession from him when he's made it clear that he doesn't like you and it's nearly impossible for him to like you . He thinks you're repulsive. His hands cup your face.

"I like you too." He tells you before lowering his head so his lips meet yours. His lips feel so soft on yours and you can't believe the many times you've had to kiss him and have never noticed.

His hands leave your face as the kiss deepens. His hands land on your waist as his tongue licks your lips, your mouth opens to let his tongue in. His tongue quickly presses against yours. He manages to pick you up and put you down on the counter, his lips detaching himself from your mouth and kissing down your chin, to your neck.

His hands go to the hem of your shirt, slightly pulling it up as his mouth begins to suck on your neck, a place where it wouldn't be so noticeable for anyone to notice. You can't believe you're allowing that. You can't believe this is happening between you and Toji. And you can't believe you have no intention of stopping it because you want him and are so touch starved.

"I want you so- fucking bad-" He stops sucking to say, now just leaving a trail of kisses. "I- touch myself at the thought of you."

He's lifting up your shirt and you help him take it off. His arms quickly go to your back to unclasp your bra. Before you can slide it off, you hear tiny footsteps running upstairs causing you both to come to a stop.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck." You both chant, and Toji covers you while you fix yourself up. Misaki isn't downstairs yet, but he wants to make sure just in case.

"Mom!" You hear Misaki, and you both begin to freak out. Luckily for you, your shirt is on before Misaki gets downstairs. You get off the counter and Misaki finally steps on the first floor. She walks to the kitchen, and just stares at you with doe eyes, blinking slowly. "What are you doing?"

"Just cleaning up, honey." You respond, your face undeniably warm. "What's wrong? Why aren't you in bed?"

"Megumi's crying a lot." She informs you before staring again for a couple of seconds. She knows something is up. She turns around and begins to walk to the stairs.

You look at Toji and he looks back at you. Both of you have very serious expressions. Once you both know she's a good distance away, you both let out a laugh. You kiss Toji's cheek before beginning to walk away.

"I'll go check on the baby." You tell him. "Goodnight, Toji."

"Goodnight."
