Toji hired people to set up Misaki's birthday party because if it was left up to you two, you wouldn't be able to pay any attention to her. By six in the morning you're awake, and you can't go back to sleep. Misaki usually wakes up pretty early, and you want to make her a special breakfast so it's a good thing you don't feel tired.

You get up from bed and get ready. You don't do anything over the top since you're just making breakfast. Everyone in the house is asleep so you quietly make your way downstairs. You try to be as silent as possible while making breakfast, which feels like a hard task. But it's also so quiet downstairs that every noise you make sounds so loud.

Usually while making breakfast you have Megumi making some type of noise, whether that'd be screaming or trying to sing along to his cartoons. Since he's asleep, everything is much quieter than usual. However, you do appreciate the calmness because you can just focus on your task without worrying about Megumi hurting himself in some way in his playpen.

Ever since Misaki first tried french toast, she's been obsessed with it. She tries to ask for it every morning but you don't want to cook it every single morning. It's a treat, and this morning you're making it for her. You make that along with some scrambled eggs.

You cut up some fruit, and just as you finish cutting up the last strawberry, you hear some footsteps. You know it's her, so you finish up decorating her plate. You see her messy hair and her unicorn pajamas. She hasn't even washed her face at least that's what you see from the look in her squinted eyes. You walk over to her and pick her up from the floor, kissing her cheeks. She's so heavy six years later, it feels like it was just yesterday when you first held your seven pound baby.

"Happy birthday, Misaki." You tell her. Her eyes light up, as if remembering it's her birthday and not a normal day. She has a big birthday party in a couple hours and many of her friends will come, making her excited.

"When are my friends coming over?" She asks, and you put her down on the floor to get her plate of food. You look at the time, and you still have quite some time before her friends start to show up.

"We have quite some time, honey." You respond, putting her plate of food down on the table. She whines as she takes a seat, but her birthday party is long forgotten due to the delicious food that is placed in front of her. You smile, watching the child quickly dig into her breakfast. "But I promise the time will go by really fast."

You watch her eat for a couple of seconds before going back to the kitchen to serve yourself some breakfast as well. You sit down at the table with her and you listen to her excitement about her party, her gifts, her friends. So much is going through the little girl's mind. It just makes you smile.

"Do you-" She begins but she stops before finishing her sentence. You encourage her to ask the question that she asks. She sheepishly speaks again, "Do you think daddy will show up?"

It takes you by surprise because from what you've observed, Misaki hasn't shown any particular signs that tell you that she misses him. But it's inevitable. Shiu is her father. A father that she very much adored, and who would adore her the same if not more. You don't expect her to never mention him again, in fact, you're surprised by how she rarely mentions him.

"I don't think so, baby." You tell her. You try to think of something that'll make her feel better. "It's my fault. I forgot to send an invitation. I'm sorry, baby."

"It's okay, mommy." She answers. Well, there isn't any point in getting mad at you. She forgets stuff all the time and you never get mad at her. "Maybe next time."

"Thank you for being so understanding, honey." You smile at her. It really breaks your heart that even if you wanted to send an invitation, there's no way for you to contact the man. You both enjoy your food, until you hear a couple baby noises, which get more and more loud by the second.

"Good morning." Toji says, holding his baby. Toji walks over to the table and he kisses the top of Misaki's head. "Happy birthday, princess."

"Thank you, dad." Misaki responds. Toji smiles at you, and you smile back at him. You stand up from the table, with a near empty plate. You try to take Megumi from Toji, but Toji shakes his head.

"Finish eating." He tells you. "I finished eating breakfast." You inform him, which makes him give in. He gives you Megumi before going to the kitchen to see the breakfast. He sees a plate already served for him so he takes it. Meanwhile you put Megumi in his highchair to give him breakfast as well.

"Excited for your birthday party?" Toji asks as he sits at the table. Misaki excitedly nods.

"How long till my friends come over?" She questions, and Toji shrugs. He isn't aware of the time, he just knows it's really early.

"We have to get you ready for your party first. Once you're ready and in your princess dress, then you can start asking about your friends." Toji tells her and she nods in response. It'll keep the repetitive asking under control for a while. Misaki finishes her breakfast and stands up from the table, walking to the stairs to play with her dolls for a bit to keep her mind off things.

Toji watches as you sit beside baby Megumi, just watching the baby. Whenever it's some sort of puree or soup, you feed the baby but the food is something that Megumi can hold. Toji just finds it extremely adorable how you just gush at everything that the baby does. Although he understands, Megumi is an extremely adorable baby, the baby is his son after all.

"After breakfast can you go pick up Misaki's cake?" You ask Toji and he hums in response. He has to do it sooner or later, and it's best to do it sooner. You keep your eye on Megumi because the baby has picked up the tendency of picking up his plate or bowl and throwing it off the highchair once he's done.

"What time are the people coming to set up the place?" Toji questions.

"At eleven." You answer. You look at Toji for a split second, which is when the baby gets the magnificent idea to pick up his bowl. Before he can throw it, you hold his arm down. You look at him, and he looks at you. "Megumi, no."

He's trying to communicate with you, but no actual words come out. Just babbling. The baby is arguing with you, probably trying to make a great point as to why he should be allowed to pick up the plastic plate and throw it across the room.

"No." Your voice is firm, and the baby doesn't like it. Toji wants to chuckle at the exchange. But when you say another firm no, the baby's bottom lip quivers and the waterworks begin. His cries go into the air, and you let go of his arm. And when he doesn't feel you stopping him anymore, he throws the plate. "Megumi!"

"Sorry mama." Megumi says, his sorry not pronounced correctly since the baby is just learning how to speak. He's slowly picking up words, sometimes mimicking you. However, Megumi only responds when he wants to. You sigh.

"Damn, what a bad kid." Toji comments. "Certainly not my son."

"Clean up after him. I'll go check up on Misaki." You tell Toji, who doesn't protest about picking up after the baby.

-

"How do I look, mommy?" Misaki asks, as if you weren't the one that did her hair and makeup, which just consists of a bit of eyeshadow and pink lipgloss. She twirls her yellow dress. She has almost everything, except the tiara Toji bought.

"You look stunning, honey." You tell her. She walks to the mirror to look over herself. She loves how pretty she looks.

There's a knock on her door, and you open it to find Toji there, with the little box that holds the very expensive tiara that he spent his money on. He smiles at you before walking into the room. He sees Misaki and immediately compliments her, "You look so pretty, honey."

"Thank you, dad." She responds. She tilts her head when she notices the box Toji holds. He opens it for her, and her eyes light up at the tiara. "Is that for me?"

"Yes, it's for you, honey." Toji says as he takes the tiara and puts it on Misaki. Misaki looks at herself, in even more awe. She loves the way she looks. Like an actual princess.

"C'mon, let me take a picture of you two." You tell them as you grab your phone. Toji gets on his knees and poses next to Misaki. The two of them smile at the camera, and you take the picture.

"Alright. You two look so cute." You tell them. You look at the time. "Let's start going downstairs. People will start getting here soon."

"Okay, let me go get Megumi." Toji says, getting up and walking out of the room. Misaki walks to your side and takes your hand. You walk out of the room together, and go downstairs.

Misaki notices her cake and gasps. It's such a pretty design, and her favorite princesses are on it too. You requested a bunch of the princesses she doesn't shut up about. You point at one of them and ask, "Who's this? Cinderella?"

"No, mommy. That's Ariel. Keep up, mommy." She responds, and Toji hears it. He laughs.

"Yeah, keep up, mommy." Toji mocks. You can't name the right princesses, but Toji can. Toji points at them and names them. "That's Tiana, and this one is Rapunzel, and then this is Jasmine. Oh, and we can't forget about Mulan."

"How can you name them, but I can't?" You question. Megumi notices you and calls you out because his father's arms are boring. You take the baby. You look at the baby and his chubby cheeks. You just want to bite them. "I have to keep you away from the cake."

Misaki stops looking at her cake and she walks to the sliding glass door to see the backyard, where everything is set up. She gasps as she sees everything. And the bounce house that looks like a castle catches her attention. She runs to Toji, very excitedly.

"Thank you, daddy!" She says and he picks her up from the floor. She kisses his cheek. "I love you, daddy. Thank you."

"I love you too, Misaki. I'm glad you like your castle." Toji responds, and you just smile as you watch the sweet exchange.

-

The first people arrive at the party, and Misaki quickly guides them to the bounce house. Nearly all the kids are there, while others decide to get a face painting, get some cotton candy, paint something, or pay attention to the entertainer. Toji decided to go all out, and while planning the party you knew it was going to be a lot, but not this much. Regardless, you appreciate it.

The parents aren't too worried, they watch their kids from a distance while sitting down at a table. Some of them came for the sole purpose of gossiping, because as much as you'd like to be irrelevant, some know gossip too much and love reading magazines; magazines that you're in.

Toji not being Misaki's biological father isn't news to them. The child is too sweet and looks too kind to be Toji's. Although you consider the child that you hold in your arms to be sweet.

Megumi laughs at the creation in front of him. The entertainer made him a balloon dog, and he took it. And now Megumi can't stop waving the balloon around.

"Let me go get some cotton candy so Megumi can try it." Toji tells you, and he gets up from the table, to stand in line behind children that are half his size. It's almost comical to see.

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" You hear, and you slightly turn your head to watch the running child. She's already so sweaty. She's out of breath when she finally gets to you. "Can we get a puppy? You can't say no, it's my birthday!"

"You're right, I can't say no. But I can think about it." You respond with a smile. You then look at Megumi's dog balloon, one he adores so much. You take it from him, however, since you can just get another one made. "Matter of fact, here. Here's your puppy."

"Mommy!" She whines before running away, leaving you with the balloon. You give it back to Megumi.

"What happened with Misaki?" Toji asks when he gets back to the table. He takes a piece of cotton candy and gives it to the baby. The baby immediately shakes his head violently.

"She wants a puppy." You tell him. Before he can say anything, you speak again. "Don't even think about it, Toji. I have enough with cleaning Megumi's shit, I can't handle more."

"What if she promises to be responsible and clean up after the puppy?" Toji responds, and you click your tongue. You know that's not happening.

Toji looks around and finds that his daughter has moved on from the bounce house to painting something. He stands up and walks to her to see what she's painting. When Misaki notices him, she puts down her paintbrush and turns to him, crossing her arms. "What do you need?"

"I want to see what you're painting. Can I?" He asks and she shakes her head. "Can't I get a peek?"

"No." She answers. He honors her wishes and turns back, walking back to you and Megumi. He smiles happily, because even though he wasn't supposed to see, he saw what Misaki was painting and it's beyond cute.

It could be called a family portrait, although Toji's stick figure looks like a giant. Even baby Megumi who appears to be taller than Misaki. He could only identify the baby as Megumi because of a poor attempt of Megumi's old pacifier, one that you made sure to get rid of the moment the baby turned a year old.

"So when you said you can't handle cleaning more shit, does that include-" He begins but he stops himself. It's too soon for that. You look at him, tilting your head. He shakes his head and kisses your cheek. "Do you think Misaki will like her gifts?"

"There's a lot of them, but all of them are things she's been dying to get." You share. "She'll love all those toys. Especially the dollhouse."

"God, I wish we could've just spent the day with her alone and not with a bunch of stinking brats." Toji says through his teeth, and he hears his son randomly yell. "That includes you, stinkgumi. Especially after throwing that plate this morning."

"Tell your dad that it's old news." You tell the baby. "Megumi and I made up after that."

"You'll fight again when he throws another plate." Toji points out, making you stick your tongue out.

"Hopefully he throws it at you."

"Woah, what did I do? I'm such a supportive husband." He claims. You laugh before giving Toji the baby.

"The most supportive husband." Your voice is sarcastic.

"Weird." He says. "You didn't invite your father."

"Why should I?" You respond. "He's barely a father and barely a grandfather."

"What about your boyfriend?" Toji brings up, and you roll your eyes. Toji chuckles at your reaction.

"Boyfriend? I only have a husband, I really don't get where you're coming from." You respond before pecking his lips, which leaves his cheeks all pink. You're both lucky Megumi is focused on his balloon.

-

Misaki blows out the six candles, and the party comes to a conclusion. Everyone leaves, and Misaki is so tired at the end that the little girl doesn't even open her birthday presents. You have to bathe her and put her in her pajamas before putting her to bed. A bunch of presents are piled up in the corner of her room, ones that she'll excitedly open first thing in the morning.

"I love you to the moon and back, Misaki." You kiss your daughter's forehead before walking out of the room. You leave the room and find Toji in the hallway, who seems to exit your room.

"I set up a bubble bath for you, my wife." He says, and you walk to him, wrapping your arms around his waist while your lips go up to meet his. You peck his lips a handful of times before speaking.

"Join me." You tell him, grabbing his hand and leading him to your bathroom. He closes the door and locks it. Toji takes off his shirt rather quickly, and you take in everything about him, as if you hadn't seen him shirtless before.

Toji's lips waste no time to meet against yours, while his hands go behind and pull down the zipper of your dress. He doesn't want to waste any time to get you naked. He's waited too long for this. Your hands are on his pants, and you're feeling his erection.

Your dress falls to the floor, and Toji reaches behind to unclasp your bra. He takes off the bra, his lips going down, kissing your neck. He's been waiting so long for thisโ€“ Too fucking long.

But it's as if the universe is against him. He hears the doorbell ring three times. He's never been so pissed off before, but he comes to a stop. He takes his shirt and puts it on, curses leaving his lips. You've never seen Toji this mad before, and a chuckle leaves your lips even when you're frustrated as well.

"This better be fucking good." Is all he can say when he opens the front door. But there's no one, which somehow pisses him off even more. He swears he's ready to kill whoever pulled this prank.

But then he notices something on the floor. A medium sized box wrapped in pink paper. Toji furrows his eyebrows, confused before picking it up from the floor. There's a note attached, and although Toji knows he shouldn't read something that's clearly for Misaki, he's inclined to read it.

He walks inside and sits down on the couch, taking the note and opening it. Toji's eyes widen and his heart drops. His hands quickly become shaky as the room gains this certain heat. This has to be a joke, right? He reads it over and over again:

To my dear Misaki,

Happy 6th birthday, honey. I hope you had so much fun on this very special day. I will come to you soon. I can't wait to see you again, and I miss you very much.

Much love,
Daddy

This has to be a joke. And if it's not, then the universe really is against Toji.
