CHAPTER 14Β

"What's on your mind?" Oikawa reverses the question onto you.

You shrug your shoulders. "Just happy to be here. That's all," you lift your head to meet his eyes, leaving inches between your lips. "Tell me about yourself."

"What?"

"You asked me that once," you remind him. "Now, it's your turn."

"What would you like to know?"

"I wanna know what you like." he watches your lips move, and he averts his gaze before you can catch him. You bring a hand up, twirling another brown lock around your finger flirtatiously.

I like you, he wants to say, I like you so much... but I don't know how to tell you.

"Well, for starters, I like volleyball," he watches you roll your eyes playfully, "but, I also like swimming during the summer. I like hot chocolate, and I really love milk bread."

"Milk bread?" you ask, and he nods. "You better take me to your favourite bakery one day so we can eat some together."

He gnaws at his bottom lip, fighting the urge to lift you up and kiss you all over your face. The plan already sits in his mind, and he lets himself imagine the scenario. "I will."

"Tell me more."

"Um, I like running in the mornings. It helps with my knee, which I actually injured from working myself too hard playing volleyball," he laughs at the memory in the ER while Iwaizumi scolded him. "When I was younger, I used to catch bugs with Iwa-chan, but I'm actually terrified of bugs, so I let him do all of the work. He also taught me how to skateboard, but I don't really like it. Now that we're in high school, we only have time for volleyball.

"I also hope to travel the world one day, and as silly as it may sound, I want to play volleyball professionally. I want it to be my career, so I'm thinking maybe I could play in university and pursue it after I graduate. I love the sport so much, I mean, I've been playing it ever since I was a child. Yeah I might've injured myself along the way, but that's definitely not gonna stop me."

You watch the brown of his eyes brighten in the dim light. There's passion in his voice, in the future that he wishes to have. "In that case, I'll make sure to attend all of your games so I can support you and your dreams."

Oikawa's cheeks bloom a soft pink. "That would mean the world to me." he speaks from the heart, words he never thought he would say to someone before. He hated that he was being vulnerable, that all of his walls were down. But he liked it as well β€” knowing that he could share his secrets and dreams with someone was almost like a different kind of love.

It wasn't like Oikawa didn't have people supporting him on the court already. His occasional 'fan club' would never miss one of his games, but having you attend would mean something entirely different. You would be there to support him, his passions, and the life he wanted to achieve.

And if he were to ever become a professional volleyball player, he would want nothing more than to have you standing beside him.

You tease him with a wiggle of your hips. "Tell me more."

Oikawa takes a deep breath, knowing that the next subject would likely drain all the energy from his body. "My dad," he already wants to stop talking, "you already know I don't have the best relationship with him."

"Mhm," you hum into his neck, and you smirk when he leans in closer.

"Well, ever since I was a child, he never really liked seeing me play volleyball. He was always afraid of me getting injured, and when I ended up in the ER, he got really upset with me. Thankfully, Iwa-chan was there to back me up, but it wasn't enough." Oikawa can't remember who he's told this story to β€” he realizes that you are the first to hear it. "My dad thinks volleyball is a waste of time. He always said that it should just remain a hobby, but I see more. I see a future with it."

You lift your head, meeting his eyes in the hazy light. The corner of your mouth quirks up, trying to lighten his mood. "Listen to me," gently, you hold his face between your palms, "You can do whatever you want with your life, as long as you set your mind and heart into it. You have to believe in yourself and in your abilities."

He places his hands over yours, keeping them on his face. "I know, but it would be so much easier if I had my father's support. He's my own dad, and the only family I have left ever since my sisters moved out." He sighs, "I don't want to ruin this night. Let's change the subject."

"You're not ruining anything," you comfort him, "I like listening to you."

At this moment, Oikawa feels as though the world has gone still. It's only you and him, existing in his very living room while the rest of the world fades in the back. He looks down briefly, studying the shape of your lips and wishing that you would lean in and close the short distance with a kiss.

"Oikawa," you squish his face and angle it upwards, forcing him to keep eye contact, "my eyes are up here."

He tries to smile. "Sorry."

You release him, sliding your hands down to caress the sides of his neck. "I'm not sure how helpful my advice will be," you steal a glance at his own lips, admiring the dark pink hue that compliments his rosy cheeks, "but not everyone in the world will be there to support you. I know it's harsh advice, but that's how the world works. People will either be with you or against you. It all depends on how you react and choose to live your life.

"But I can tell you one more thing," you lean in, gently pressing your forehead against his. Oikawa parts his lips, readying himself for a kiss, but instead he closes his eyes and listens to what you have to say. "I see a good future for you where you travel and play on an international court. I see it, truly. You're hardworking, passionate, and driven. You're also talented, skilled, and caring. I only see good things for you, and I hope that from this day moving forward, you focus on what you want for yourself and block out other people's opinions, because at the end of the day, what matters most is what you do for yourself."

Oikawa stiffens, completely taken back by your words. No one has ever spoken to him like this. It makes his heart jump into his throat from pure happiness β€” and maybe even love.

He feels a connection to you that he's never felt with anyone else, a connection that goes beyond the physical. And it's too late for him to back out now.

"Well," he's careful, cupping your face with his hands. He strokes your skin, a sensation that makes your eyes flutter shut. "If I ever get that future, I want you to be in it."

You lean back, letting the drumming of the rain above fill the silence. There's a tie between your hearts, and you feel a tug, bringing you closer to Oikawa in a way that feels fated.

He strokes your bottom lip with a thumb. "Kiss me," he whispers, wanting nothing more than to have this moment with you. "Please, kiss me."

The string between your hearts tug, bringing you closer into Oikawa's body, and the next thing you know, the distance between your lips has been sealed with a kiss. His kisses are different this time around, more softer and warmer than usual. It's a sign that he's completely taken by your affection.

You move your head, getting a better angle to part your lips. His hands roam the sides of your body while you cling onto his sweater, hoping he wouldn't somehow disappear.

His teeth play with your bottom lip, drawing a small moan from you. The sound makes him smile against your lips. When he deepens the kiss with his tongue, you instantly melt against his body.

His lips trail off, kissing the corner of your mouth and chin. He licks your jaw before biting, filling you up with anticipation. "Oikawa," his name escapes your lips, begging him to keep going and never stop. "Oikawa... Ah,"

You feel him smile against your neck before sucking your skin between his teeth. He covers you in kisses and bites, never failing to draw more of those delicate moans from you.

Your hips buck, shifting your weight lower onto his lap. He grasps your hips, helping you grind against him. It makes him suck in a breath, and he lets you take control of the moment β€” he loved seeing you like this, in control.

"You like this, huh?" you ask against his mouth, and he nods, completely taken under your spell. Your hips move faster, and even Oikawa struggles to hold in a moan. "Want me to ride you?"

He wants to say yes, to plead over and over until all of your clothes are on the floor and you're riding his cock, but before he can even form a sentence, his grumbling stomach interrupts the moment.

You stop grinding your hips, not knowing whether you heard something or not. "Oikawa, did you hear that?"

Shit.Β "No," he groans, feeling upset with himself. His hands slide over and grab onto your ass, urging you to keep grinding. "Don't stop, please."

You giggle against his lips, hearing the desperation in his voice and sealing it with your lips. Angling your head, you cover the side of his neck with wet kisses, and before you can sink your teeth into his skin, the grumbling sound returns.

Slowly, you pull away from Oikawa and leave him panting. You hold in a laugh when you spot the embarrassment on his face, his cheeks a bright red despite the low lights. "Are you... still hungry?"

His stomach answers your question with another grumble. "Maybe... yes."

Your laughs fill the room, and Oikawa can't help but join in. When you catch your breath, you squish his face between your hands once again. "What do you wanna eat?"

His cheeks press up against your palms when he grins. "Dessert."

Looking at his squished lips, you peck them before releasing his face. "We can make something together if you want," you get off his lap and leave him on the couch, heading into the kitchen to explore the fridge. "We can bake a cake, or cookies, or we can try making milkshakes, orβ€”"

He listens to you babble on, already missing the feel of you straddling his lap. Then, an idea pops into his head. "Come back here," he motions for you to return to the couch. "Remember I mentioned milk bread earlier?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"We can run down to the bakery around the corner and get some," he stands, already grabbing your hand and leading you to the front door. "You'll get to try my favourite food, and if you want, we can also get boba or hot chocolate to go with it."

"Is it not too late?" you ask, and Oikawa shakes his head when he checks the time on his watch. "But it's raining outside."

"So we'll run there. My dad took the car to work, and the bakery is not too far," he says, already slipping his feet into his sneakers. "It's connected to a grocery store as well, so if you want anything else we can grab it there."

What was supposed to just be dinner and a movie quickly turned into a late night adventure, and even better, it was all happening with Oikawa β€” the last person you thought you'd develop a crush on. "Okay," you say, letting him guide you out of his house and down the rainy street.
