If you had told Kou 3 years ago that she'd be going to U.A High School, training to become a hero among some of the strongest quirks in her generation, she'd probably laugh straight in your face. Hell, people were still laughing at her and she's been at this school for 3 months already.

No formal training, no virtuous background, no strong quirk- nothing from her past that would indicate in the slightest she'd ever become a hero. She didn't blame the skeptical looks she'd gotten from her middle school friends, her teachers; and especially her fellow classmates in class 1-B.

Kou didn't look like a hero. She didn't talk like a hero, and she definitely didn't act like one. If you asked someone for their opinion, they'd tell you Shinobu Kou was a crude, temperamental girl with a bad habit of being late and getting into fights.

It wasn't her fault! Even if she tried, Kou had a hard time fitting in with these "goodie two-shoes" heroes. If there was one thing she hated, it was people who thought the world owed them something. And it seemed like this school was crawling with those bastards; everyone here was up each other's asses constantly, yapping about how they'd become the new number one hero and how noble it all was. It made her sick.

Not to mention the fact that after school she had to commute an hour back to her shitty cramped apartment, avoid her parents like the plague, then commute another 30 minutes to get to her shitty job as a waitress; and only after she'd been worked to the bone could she go back home and work on her shitty homework through the night. Wash, rinse, and repeat that a couple dozen times and see how nice you'd be to your classmates.

Obviously, Kou was having a hard time adjusting. And that's what pissed her off the most. She'd spent the last two years training and working; she'd quite literally shed blood, sweat, and tears in her fight to get into this school. It wasn't easy, especially coming from a family that hated heroes, a city that seemed to breed villains and thugs, and a quirk that was more or less only good for pickpocketing strangers. It was a goddamn miracle she'd even made it this far, and she'd be damned if she'd be defeated by a little bit of teen angst and a whole lot of exhaustion.

Becoming a hero...getting stronger....making a name for herself.... Kou wanted all of it. She'd rather die than end up like her family; she needed to get out of that house and do something with her life that she'd be proud of. That's why she was here. She needed to prove to herself- no, everyone- that Shinobu Kou was not a loser. And what better way to do that than become a hero, the pinnacle of strength and victory in this society?

"Hey Shinobu!"

The girl in question cracked a single eye open, slightly pissed off she'd been woken from her nap during the short break they had between classes. "What is it, Itsuka?"

Itsuka Kendo was one of the few people Kou could tolerate in this class. That is, if you ignored the blond haired nightmare of a best friend Kendo had. Her and Tetsutetsu were the closest thing she had to "friends" in 1-B, and that's why she didn't murder the girl when she woke her up from a nap.

"Let's go check out 1-A! The sports festival is soon and we wanna scope out the competition!" the redhead replied, already dragging a groggy Kou out the class and towards their sworn enemies.

Fun fact: Kou was actually supposed to be in 1-A. Well, not really. But she was definitely MAYBE supposed to be in class 1-A. She'd just been a bit late for the exams, and screwed up on the written portion, and she may have also gotten into a physical altercation with a certain grape-headed pervert because what else was she supposed to do? Kou had scored 66 points, and 5 rescue points-one of the highest amongst the applicants-but because of everything she'd done wrong she got demoted to 1-B.

Not that she cared. A or B, she was becoming a hero. A stupid title wouldn't stop her. Though it did kind of piss her off that she'd been stripped of her seat just because of a few inconsequential things.

"Hey you!" you heard the silver haired idiot yell towards the poor guy who decided to step out of 1-A, "I'm from class 1-B next door and heard you fought some villains! I came to see if that was true! You're just a bunch of brats who think you're better than us!"

Wow, inferiority complex much? Shinobu held back a sigh, not wanting to undermine her friend in front of the "competition". But seriously? This was embarrassing...

The kid who had been on the receiving end of Tetsu's speech looked at him with one of the harshest glares Kou had ever seen. She almost expected a snooty reply, or a growl, something- but the blond merely turned and walked away without a word.

"Bakugou! What are you gonna do about all this?! You can't just make everyone hate us and leave!" another 1-A student tried to call back at the blond, obviously nervous about the tensions between classes.

"It doesn't matter." his deep voice pierced through her ears, "it doesn't matter unless you rise to the top."

The hallway filled with silence, everyone taken aback by the bold declaration. Hell, even Kou was surprised for a second.

Before she could think about her actions, Kou reached into her pocket, grabbing one of her playing cards and throwing it directly at the blond headed boy.

Shinobu Kou, Class 1-B student! Quirk: Nen! She can use her life aura to form a protective barrier around her body, utilizing it in more ways than one! However, her favourite way is "Transmutation", in which she changes the properties of her aura to her advantage!

Kou had enforced those cards with her quirk, making them hard as steel. The makeshift weapon whizzed past Bakugou, close enough to slice a couple millimeters of hair off his head.

Honestly the girl had no idea why she'd done that. Perhaps it was because he'd disrespected her friend, or that she'd been dragged here by Itsuka only to be ignored, or maybe it's because what he'd said reinforced her passion to rise to the top. Too late to rethink her choices, because the boy was now fuming, steam practically coming out of his ears.

"WHICH ONE OF YOU EXTRAS DID THAT? I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!" he screamed, stomping back to the crowd who now looked warily towards Shinobu.

"That would be me." Kou replied back confidently, willing the card to come back to her with ease. "I don't really appreciate you looking down on my class like that."

With a low growl, Bakugou picked up the girl by the collar, forcing her to look into his furious red eyes for the first time. "You think you can win the sports festival using these cheap ass tricks? Why don't you grow a pair and face me head on!"

Kou couldn't help but laugh at that. She calmly put her hands over the blond's, prying herself from his grip and wiping off the imaginary dirt off her shirt.

"Oh believe me, I will. I'm winning this sport's festival, so you can look forward to me beating your ass in front of everyone on live television!" she stated, and Shinobu was almost surprised at how worked up she'd gotten. Maybe Tetsutetsu wasn't so crazy after all; these 1-A bastards really thought they were better than them!

Bakugou merely scoffed, shoving her aside with his shoulder as he walked past the crowd again. "Bullshit. None of you weak ass losers could get past the first round even if you tried. I'm getting first place and winning this shit no matter what."

About to make another snarky remark, or just straight up beat the shit out of the hedgehog-looking motherfucker walking away from her, Kou was held back by Itsuka.

"Shinobu, stop it! Sensei told you if you got into another fight you'd be in big trouble! It's not worth it, just beat them at the festival!" she tried reasoning, and gradually Kou calmed down.

"Goddamn arrogant pieces of shit," she growled, looking inside the class of now scared looking students, "I'm definitely showing them who the real losers are! Just you wait!"

Putting her arm around Shinobu's shoulder, Kendo quickly whisked her away back towards 1-B, the crowd slowly dispersing as well. "Yes, yes, Shinobu, you'll definitely show them. Let's go home now okay?"

Kou's newfound passion was invigorated. Of course, she'd already planned on beating everyone and winning the festival, but now she was determined. That stupid blond bastard wasgoing to die by her hands, and she'd shove the winning medal so far down his throat it would-

Meanwhile in 1-A, the remaining students looked at each other in mild panic and exhaustion.

"Man, the rest of the school really hates our class, huh?" Midoriya laughed nervously, a hand coming up to the back of his neck.

"Yeah, and Bakugou just made it a lot worse," Uraraka said, a scared look on her face as she recounted how many people seemed to want to defeat their class.

"That girl was a lot like him though," Kirishima added in, almost to himself. The rest of the group turned towards him, "She even managed to surprise him! With the way she was talking, I'd say we have a female Baku-bro to fight against during the festival!"

They shuddered at the thought. Wasn't one of them enough?
