Β  Β I groaned as bright light infiltrated my blurry vision, the crisp morning air blew against my face and I shivered, snuggling back down under the blanket around me.

There's a blanket around me.

I looked down to see that it wasn't actually a blanket that was keeping me warm, but Shota's scarf loosely wrapped around me. It did a surprisingly good job at conserving body heat.

My neck was sore but it made sense considering that my head was now in Shota's lap. I looked up and saw him asleep against the wall behind him. Although I can't imagine sleeping against a concrete wall was comfortable, he looked surprisingly peaceful.

It was a nice change to see his whole face as his hair fell behind him. His sharp jawline was dotted with stubble and his eyes were a mesmerising raven black that pulled me in capturing my own and refusing to let me look away.

Wait. Eyes. Eyes + open = awake.

Shit.

"Enjoying the view?" He teased. His voice was somehow more gravely than usual. If I hadn't just been caught staring I definitely would've lost it.

"O-Mmmmm- yes. I mean no! I mean yes. Wait maybe. What was the question again?" I sputtered my face turning a violent shade of red.

He chuckled and started to play with my hair.

My heart skipped a beat.

What's happening to you y/n? Get a grip.

"What's the time?" I asked, desperately trying to move away from everything that had just happened.

Shota pulled out his phone with one hand, allowing the other to keep stroking my hair. I felt like I would melt right then, right there.

"7:09." He replied, looking down at me.

"Damn. That's the best night's sleep I've had in a while." I met his gaze and smiled.

"I'm glad."

"Wait, don't you have to go to work?" I asked him.

He shrugged, "it's fine if I'm late."

"But isn't it Wednesday?" I thought, remembering that Uraraka had mentioned something about their class going on a class trip today. "I thought you had a big class trip?"

At that he shot up, I had to catch myself so that I wasn't flung out of his lap and managed to sit up, the scarf unravelling around me.

"Shit." He mumbled. "I need to go." He looked back at me as I handed him his capture weapon.

Was it just me or was there a slight look of disappointment in his eyes?

It was probably just me. I shouldn't get my hopes up.

I chuckled as he sniffed his clothes. "I'm sure you smell fine."

"Those kids pick up on everything." He grumbled.

"Ah, of course, children, you can never be too careful."

As if Shota's phone could hear what we were saying (and it probably could let's be honest) a text popped up on his phone from someone saved as 'loudmouth 10/10 would leave behind in the forest' asking where he was.

That was a very specific and slightly threatening name.

"I dread to think what you've saved me as on there."

"Don't worry, yours doesn't say that I'll leave you behind in a forest."

I smiled.

"It says I'd 'accidentally' lose you in a large crowd of people."

My smile faded and I hit him around the head.

"Remind me to never go to the mall with you." I groaned and stretched. "Well then... see you later?"

He nodded, "see you later y/n."

---

"Boo!"

I jumped and looked up from the cake I was trying to cut, which now had an extremely uneven set of slices.

I was about to curse the hell out of whoever had jumped me but it all faded away when I saw my tall, salt and peppered haired friend sit down at the counter.

"Daiki! Oh my god!" I squealed. "You look great! How was your honeymoon?"

"A-maz-ing. It went perfectly."

"You kept to your schedule?"

"I tried- Matt made us take a few detours through some markets. Speaking of markets." He placed the red box he was holding down on the counter. "Pour toi."

I smiled gratefully and opened the box, inside was a mug, it looked handmade and had different famous buildings located in Paris painted on the outside.

"I love it!" I turned and placed it on the shelf above the coffee machine that held other mugs from around the world. "Come here." I moved out from behind the counter and threw my arms around him.

"Matt wanted to get you some cheese so that we could come round a have a, and I quote 'fondu Funday', so you can imagine how happy I was to find that." He gestured to the mug.

I had a sneaking suspicion that Daiki was the one who actually came up with the name- but I decided not to question it.

"Oh come on Daiki, fondu Funday sounds great. Although we do sound like middle-aged women."

"And that's exactly why we're not doing it. But we'll have to do something so that you can introduce us to your new boyfriend."

"I'd love to but unfortunately he won't be able to make it seeing as he doesn't exist."

"Lies. Yuri told me all about him. Pro hero~"

"No! Eraser head is not my boyfriend." I shook my head furiously. "And anyway you should know better than to listen to her,Β  Yuri's planned my wedding with like 50 guys I've literally spoken to once."

"Yuri's always been enthusiastic about your love life, but this time she was really enthusiastic."

"I'm pretty sure he doesn't see me like that at all anyway." I sighed.

"Oh, so you do like him."

I glared at Daiki who just laughed.

"Y/n!" A voice from one of the tables called and we both looked at them.

"Yeah Uki?" I asked.

"Can you put the news on? Some big hero fight's happening at USJ."

I nodded and turned on the TV in the corner of the room, switching the channels until I found the news and turning up the volume.

"-There are no known deaths and the students can be seen leaving the USJ building in the footage shown now."

The video was of a group of kids walking out of the building, I immediately recognised Uraraka and panicked but she seemed relatively ok considering the circumstances.

"The villains were chased off by Pro Hero's who arrived on the scene soon after the attack began."

The footage changed to a birds-eye view of the USJ facility, the was smoke pummelling out of a rather large hole in the glass dome.

"Jesus," I muttered under my breath.

"There are no known casualties but there are a few reports of injuries including a student and a teacher."

My heart stopped and I began to connect the dots. Shota was on the same school trip as Uraraka. He was her teacher.

I frantically scrambled for my phone, ignoring Daiki who was asking me what was wrong and calling Shota.

The phone rang but no one picked up. "Shit. Shit. Shit."

I scrolled through my contacts and found Uraraka.

She picked up. "Uraraka? My god, are you ok?"

"Y-yeah. Just a bit shocked. Look I need to go, but I'll come in as soon as I can ok?" It sounded like she was reassuring me more than I was reassuring her.

"Yes, of course, be safe."

Daiki looked at me, "Ururaka?"

"Yeah, works here on the weekends. UA." I shook my head, "I have to go."

"What? Where?"

That was a good question. Where was I going to go? I didn't even know if Shota was one of the casualties, so why did I have a sinking feeling in my chest?

My mobile rang and I looked down. "Shota." I breathed a sigh of relief and picked up the phone.

"Hey! Fuck, I was so worried.Β  Are you okay?" I blurted out.

The voice was familiar, but not the one I hoped to hear. "Hey hey, calm down, it's alright."

"Hizashi? Where's Shota?"

His voice was quiet. That was not a good sign for someone whose normal volume was somewhere between screaming and bellowing.

"He's going to be okay."

Going to.

"What's wrong?" My voice cracked.

"He was protecting the kids and he- well he's going to be okay, a little worse for wear, but okay."

There were those stupid words again: going to.

"Where is he?"

Hizashi told me where he was being taken and I turned to Daiki, "I'm so sorry-"

"It's fine, I can hold up the fort."

I quickly hugged him and sped out of the cafe.

All I could think about was Shota.

You idiot. I swear if you die I will kill you myself.

The logic in that thought was definitely flawed, but my mind was racing as fast as I was down the streets.

I burst through the hospital doors and immediately made a beeline to Hizashi.

"Where... Is... He?" I asked in between gasps for air.

"Woah, take a breath." He placed his hands on my shoulders, "Did you run here?"

I nodded.

"Jeeze, and he thought you hated him." He mumbled under his breath.

"W-What... Why would... Why would I... Hate... Him."

"Beats me." I hadn't noticed, but he had already started to guide me through the hospital corridors. No one bothered to stop and ask who we were, I think they were too surprised that Pro-Hero Present Mic was walking around the hospital with the windswept mess that was me. He stopped outside of a door, I could hear the faint beep of a heart monitor coming from inside. "He's in there. I tried talking to him earlier but he's a bit loopy on painkillers."

"Thanks." I smiled and opened the door.

I gasped, he was covered head to toe in bandages the only thing peeking out was his coal-black hair.

"Jesus Shota what the hell did you do?" I mumbled taking the seat next to his bed.

He was lying still, with no indication as to whether he was awake or not.

"Hey, at least you get an excuse to rest now."

I heard a muffled chuckle.

"Damn, Hizashi said you were loopy, but I didn't realise how loopy, you just laughed," I said it like it was one of the most incredulous things I'd ever witnessed in my life.

"Y'know, you scared the hell out of me." I muttered, "I don't know why..." My voice faltered. "If you ever get hurt like this again, just know I will hurt you. I don't care if you bleeding out, you better not do this again." I went to sock him in the shoulder but immediately realised how bad of an idea that would be.

"Psh, I don't hate you by the way. I don't know why you'd think I did. I thought it was pretty obvious I like-" I stopped. "You're on par with coffee, you of all people should know that you can't hate coffee."

I spent the rest of the evening talking. Completely random things, whatever popped into my head I would start talking about.

If Scarfy wasn't already asleep, he definitely was now, even I was putting myself to sleep and that hospital chair was surprisingly comfortable.
