Β Β "Y/n Tanakashi, it's a pleasure to meet you!"
"H-Hi, um, my name is Yuri Adachihari."
The two shook hands, the smaller one giving the blue-haired girl a close-eyed smile. There was this warmth that radiated off her, it was almost as if the child had never known sadness, it was almost as if she hadn't ruined her parents' lives.
"I saw that we were in the same class, I sit next to you."
"Yeah, I-I saw you."
"Sooooooo, wanna be friends?"
"What?"
"Wanna be friends? I know you're new and probably don't know many people, so, wanna be friends?"
"Don't you have other friends you would rather hang out with?"
The smaller girl shrugged, pointing to a boy who stood by the door, it was obvious that he was waiting for her.
"Yeah, but Matt's a bit of a meanie sometimes, so you can join the squad."
The smaller girl threw up what she intended to be a peace sign, except it just looked as if she was flipping off the girl in front of her. But neither of them knew. Instead, the blue-haired girl just giggled and nodded.
"Y-Yeah, okay! We can be friends."
"Really? Cool!"
They were about 6 at the time, hardly accountable for their actions. So, when the teacher caught them giving each other the bird, she simply warned them to stop, rather than punish them.
"Your hair is really cool Yuri-chan!"
"T-Thank you, I like yours too."
"Yeah, mine is cool but not as cool as yours! What do you think Matt?"
"I don't hate it."Β
"Oh come on grouchy-pants."
"Grouchy-pants? That's not very creative y/n."
"It's better than anything you could come up with."
The girl stuck her tongue out at the boy, laughing when he threw his juice box at her.

"Do you know your eyes go red just before you activate your quirk?"
"Huh?"
They were older now.
13, perhaps?
"Your eyes go red! It's pretty cool if you ask me."
"Yuri! Shut up, I don't use my quirk! That's against the school rules."
"Oh, yeah, I mean, OMG Y/N! You're so cool and epic and definitely don't use your quirk to hit Miku around the head when he tries to throw stuff at the teacher."
"Is it that obvious?"
"No, honestly, not really, I guess I just noticed it."
"Good."
"Isn't Matt coming home for summer break soon y/n?"
"Yeah! He said he met this boy at the academy."
"Ooh! What's his name?"
"Daiki. Now we have to come up with a ship name."
The two listed off various names as they walked back to Tanakashi cafe, a thing that was now the regular after a busy day at school.
"Matcha."
"No, that has nothing to do with them."
"Oh, well, sue me! I guess I'll just drop my dream of becoming a famous ship namer."
"That's not a job y/n. You're ridiculous."
"Am not."
"Am so."

"Hey, Nana! Hey Pops! We're back!"
"How was your day darlings?"
"Same old same old-"
"Y/n used her quirk to help this guy today Mrs Tanakashi! It was so cool!"
The girl glared at her friend and braced herself for the upcoming lecture, knowing that her grandmother wouldn't approve of such actions.
"Y/n Tanakashi. You know you are not allowed to use your quirk in public."
"But Nana, no one saw!"
"You don't know that. What if someone saw you y/n? It's dangerous."
"Why? Basically, everyone has quirks! Why am I not allowed to use mine?"
"Y/n we've talked about this before, now how about I make you two a drink?"
"Heroes use their quirks all the time." The h/c girl muttered.
"You are not a hero y/n!"
"But I want to be!"
"No. You know how I feel about you becoming a hero."
"If you don't want me to be one so much, why do you talk about them so much?"
The older woman shook her head, dismissing the question. "No y/n. What I say is final."
It seemed harsh, controlling her granddaughter like that. Trying to stop her from reaching her goals.
But what y/n didn't know was that in her best interests. What she didn't know is that there was someone watching her.
They'd been told a lot about y/n's potential quirk. If it was anything like she said it would be, It was powerful and exactly what they needed.

"Y/n, please! You can't just ignore us!"
There was banging at the door, three friends stood on one side, whilst the fourth slumped against it, a hand clamped around her mouth as she knew if she didn't stay silent, she wouldn't be able to stop the overflow of emotions.
"Y/n?"
A more direct voice piped up.
"Listen to me y/n. I know this is hard for you, but it'll only get worse if you don't let us help you."
Help.
Y/n didn't like that word.
She wasn't broken, she didn't need help.
"You can't ignore them forever."
"Get out." She whispered, glaring at the figure who was sitting so casually on her sofa.
"And here I thought I would receive a warmer welcome."
"I don't care about what you're going to say. Get. Out."
"I'll leave in due time, but only if you come with me."
"I'm not going anywhere with you." "Y/n. Please, open the door."
"Your friends are calling for you little one. Do you really want to let them see you in such a state? What will they think when they see the always-smiling y/n reduced to a mess of tears?"
"They won't see me."
"How do you think that's going to work out for you? Do you really think that they're just going to leave you here? I don't know about you little one, but I don't think that they're giving up any time soon. If you come with me, you won't have to worry about them crashing your pity party. I can help you forget."
"What if I don't want to forget?"
"I know you do."
She didn't know what to say. There was so much going on in her head that maybe it would make sense to forget everything for a while.
"Fuck it. What's there to lose anyway?"
