𝙚𝙭𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨

"Hey baby, come in" my aunt moved to the side before I walked into her temporary hotel room.

"I'm only here for answers, then after that, I don't want anything to do with you," I spoke.

"Excuse me? Girl watch your mouth when talking to me" my aunt told me.

"First off, why'd you keep Jason a secret from me this whole time?" I asked

"I mean why not? My relationships have nothing to do with you Harlym"

"But you lied, you made it seem like y'all had just met. You've been fooling with this man for years. I'm glad that you did that though, I wouldn't want a deadbeat raising me anyways" I scoffed.

"A deadbeat? To kids that aren't even his? Please don't speak on things that you have absolutely no knowledge of." She waved me off.

"You know damn well that Kamari is Jason's child, you can't even deny it"

"He told me otherwise so I went along with it" she shrugged. "And who's telling you this bullshit? Kiyane's whore ass?" She rolled her eyes.

Why does she sound so evil? So rude?....

"Don't disrespect her, she's been more honest with me then you have"

"Well, she should've raised you then!! I'm so sick of everybody coming at me sideways, I did what I had to do, it's fucked up but I made the decision and it's over with" she yelled.

"What is your problem? What are you talking about?" I asked.

"I had to abort my child so that his wife could be happy Harlym, he left me with nothing! I've always wanted a child of my own and he took that away from me to make her happy!" She started to cry.

Abortion? She was pregnant?

"He said that me having another child would break her, he told me that we could try again when he left her" she shook her head. "But that went out of the window when Kiyane ended up pregnant with Kamari... He didn't love Kiyane anymore, we were still messing around through her whole pregnancy."

"At that moment you should've automatically realized that he didn't give a fuck about you. A real man would've owned up to his responsibilities because at the end of the days that would've been his child too" I said.

"I know...that's why I did what I did" she nodded.

"Wayment, what exactly did you do?" I scrunched up my face because she kept saying the same thing over and over.

"I brainwashed him into thinking that Kamari wasn't his, I didn't think that it would actually work though. I was bitter and hurt, I wanted her to feel the pain that I felt" she admitted.

"Wha- did you ever think about his kids that you caused pain? I mean I know that Kiyane was hurt but you're the cause of two children growing up without a father" I said as tears streamed down my face.

It's like ever since I moved away from LA, people been showing their true colors. I don't know if me moving was a sign to let me know the people that I loved weren't who they portrayed to be or what but I'm starting to realize a lot.

The shit hurts because it's coming from the least expected, I'm strong enough to not let any of it cause me trust issues, but I'm more alert than ever now.

"What about my child? The one boy isn't even his Harlym, he must be getting in your head honestly." She shook her head.

"He's not putting anything in my head auntie! You're wrong for what you did and you know it!" I raised my voice as I watched her wave me off.

"So why is Jason taking custody of Kamari all of a sudden?" I asked. "I thought you said that you brainwashed him".

"His intentions are pure, he only wants what's best for his daughter and he's willing to do whatever. Jason has always been a great father, he's just a shitty person when it comes to love. I did brainwash him, and that shit ended up not being permanent after all. He started gaining his memory back... I put him under the impression that he's the one who claimed that Kamari wasn't his when in reality, it was me all along"

"You are a sick individual" I shook my head in shame.

"Girl please,I'm great! Look how good you turned out, If I would've let you go back to your moms who knows what would've happened to-" she cut herself off once she noticed that she had said too much.

"The hell you just say?" I stood up as she looked away from my eye contact.

let me go back? How would I go back if she was strung out on drugs?

"Jason wasn't the first person that I brainwashed Harlym" she chuckled. "Ain't no sense of holding shit back now since you want to ask questions and shit!"

"What do you mean by if I would've let you go back?" I scrunched up my face.

"I brainwashed you too Harlym" she announced and it's like a whole bunch of memories flooded me all at once.

"Look at my baby, my mocha queen" my mom smiled. "Get it, baby, show your aunty that little dance that you be doing" she cheered on.

Single Ladies by Beyoncé played as I danced close to how she danced in her music video for this same exact song.

It was 2009, right before my 10th birthday when my aunt came to visit unexpectedly. She claimed that after losing my dad, my mom could use a break so she figured that she would come to keep an eye on me while my mom went to be pampered.

"She is so precious, I've missed her" my aunt smiled at me.

"That she is, my child is a piece of work" my mom smiled as she watched me continue to dance.

"Go ahead and run your errands, I'll get her bathed and put to bed" my aunt suggested.

"Are you sure?" My mom asked.

"Of course! Plus I need to spend time with aunties baby, ain't that right" my aunt grabbed me and started to tickle me.

My mom smiled as our living room was filled with my contagious laughter. "Well alright, I'll be back in a few hours, I need to go shopping for her party anyways " my mom said before grabbing her purse and slipping on her shoes and jacket.

                                   
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I screamed loudly as I started to throw everything in my reach at her.

"Are you out of your fucking mind Harlym? Stop!" She yelled.

"You've been lying to me this whole time?!" I cried as my body started to shake violently.

It's like my oxygen was stuck in my throat and I couldn't get it out.  Everything was coming to me all at once and it wouldn't stop, I felt like I was going crazy.

"Where's my mommy," I asked once I woke up in the backseat of my Aunt's trunk.

"Your mom is bad, you remember?" She looked at me through the rearview mirror.

"Oh yea" I nodded as I looked through the windows, everything looked different. "Where are we at?" I asked.

"We're almost home baby, here drink some more of this water" she passed me a water bottle and after I drunk it I fell back asleep.

"She didn't deserve you! I couldn't have any more kids but she could! She could've easily had another one" my aunt said. "You're mine! Not hers" she cried.

You could've adopted

You could've had a surrogate...

She was your sister!

Where is my mom?!

Is she even alive?

Has she been looking for me !?

So my mother never mistreated me? Degraded me?

This is all a lie?

It's like everything I wanted to say wouldn't even come out, and I instantly knew that I needed to get out of there.

I hurriedly grabbed my phone and ran out of her room towards the elevator. Once I was off the elevator I ran out of the hotel into the parking lot.

I finally was able to breathe correctly.

"Babe what the fuck?!" Kairo hurriedly ran towards me with Dior and Kori behind him.

"She lied, SHE FUCKING LIED BRO!" I screamed as I began to sob loudly.

"Mamas you have to calm down, come on let's talk in the car" Dior rubbed my back as they all guided me to Kairi's truck.

We planned to get as much information out of my aunt as we could. Kairo had mentioned how my aunt gave him a sympathetic look back at the court meeting so I thought that I should meet up with her and get as much information on Jason out of her to help build the case.

But now, we'd use this new information for a new case.

"She lied about everything, it was all her," I said before snatching the recorder out of my bra and putting it on Kairo's lap.
