twenty one.

OLIVIA FEELS AS IF SHE'S GOING TO BE SICK. She wants to roll down the window of Kat's muggle car and vomit the contains of her stomach. She couldn't stop her fingers from reaching over to the strings of her coat and fiddling with them nervously.

Kat was driving the car, Sirius beside her while Olivia, James and Kat's sister, Bianca, sat behind them. Remus, Lily and Peter had to go home to their own families first but had promised to spend New Years with them at the Potters while Lucas was still too young to be allowed to go with them without his legal guardian's permission and so he was forced to go back to the orphanage with the promise of letters from the group.

James had insisted to his parents that there was no need for them to head out to King's Cross to pick up the teenagers considering Kat has her car in the parking lot and they lived side by side. Olivia is thankful for this as it gives her more time to prepare herself. She knows there's no reason to be this terrified seeing as Euphemia's letter had very much shown that they're very excited to meet her, but she can't help herself.

Will she be able to live up to their expectations of her? Were they only pretending in the letter, but actually hated her in real life? Will they even want their son to be with her? She had gotten pregnant at seventeen by a one night stand. She knew it sounded bad and reckless and to most people, a lot like the biggest mistake she'd ever made and will ever make. It has very very serious consequences. They'd have to put their lives on pause and rethink their entire futures. What if his parents think that she had ruined their son's life by getting pregnant? James is smart as Olivia was quick to figure out. He was smart and brave and determined. She's sure he has a bright future ahead of him.

James reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers together upon seeing the slight tremble in her movements. He doesn't understand why, but her fear of meeting his parents can almost be considered as irrational considering she had already gotten a letter from them assuring her of their acceptance in their family. But Sirius had tried to make him understand the long lasting effects that comes with being told she's worthless her entire life. Olivia has trust issues. She won't simply accept words.

"Calm down," he told her softly. "It's going to be fine, I promise you."

Olivia simply bit her lower lip nervously as she met his eyes.

"And they say they're only friends," Sirius mutters from the front seat, making the two turn to him and glare. "I wasn't aware they changed 'hopelessly in love with each other' to 'friends'."

"They did around the time you told me that you and Kat were only friends after hooking up in your bathroom multiple times," James fired back.

"And with a broken arm too," Bianca added, smirking at her sister in the rearview mirror. "That takes skills."

"Hey, at least I have a pull out game, unlike someone I know."

"And we're here!" Kat cut off loudly to interrupt their conversation as she pulled over in front of the two white mansions proudly standing side by side.

When Kat had told her that she's neighbors with James, she hadn't realized it literally meant thirty feet away from each other's front doors.

She shivered as the cold air of winter London hit her at full force once she stepped out of the car. Olivia had no time to gather herself as the front door flew open, revealing a woman in her mid-sixties stepping out with a bright smile.

"Fleamont!" The woman called loudly inside the house, her shrill voice causing the birds to fly away. "They're here!"

Before Olivia knew it, she was being pulled into a tight hug as James got the trunks. For a moment, Olivia stood stunned with her arms awkwardly hanging on her sides before she finally hugged the woman back. She can smell cookie dough on the her, which gives Olivia the impression that a fresh batch of cookies awaits her inside the house.

However, she took the time to savor the hug as it's rare for her to feel something so maternal and caring that it can be expressed with something as simple as wrapping your arms around each other.

"Mum, please be careful," James winced seeing as Olivia hadn't bothered with a disillusionment charm and so hugging her came with squishing her stomach.

The woman ignored his son as she finally pulled away from the pregnant woman before cupping her face. "You have that pregnancy glow. You're gorgeous, sweetheart. My grandchildren will have amazing genes."

Olivia couldn't help but give out a small chuckle. "Thank you so much, Mrs. Potter."

"Oh nonsense with that Mrs. Potter," the woman said energetically as she looped her arm around Olivia's.

"Oh, don't scare the poor girl, Phemmy," James' father said from beside his two sons, an arm around each of them.

Once again, Euphemia ignored his husband and sons as she started to drag Olivia inside the house. "Come on, dear. I hope you like chocolate chip cookies and double fudge brownies."

"I love them."

From behind them, James watched his mother steal Olivia away, a pout on his lips. "She's stealing my baby from me."

Fleamont let out a chuckle as he patted James shoulder. "Oh, don't worry. She's not going to take your babies away. She's just very excited."

"I was talking about Olivia," James muttered.

β‹…β€’β‹…β€’β‹…βŠ°βˆ™βˆ˜β˜½ΰΌ“β˜Ύβˆ˜βˆ™βŠ±β‹…β€’β‹…β€’β‹…

"LET'S BE HONEST. WE ALL THOUGHT IT'D BE SIRIUS TO GET A GIRL PREGNANT," Fleamont jokes as they sat around the dining table, happily munching on pastries.

"I can do it, too," Sirius says. "Then you'll have more grandkids to spoil."

"Yes, do it," Euphemia encourages. "The more the merrier."

"Mum!"

Olivia laughs along as she reaches for her fourth cookie. "I'm sure Kat wouldn't be very thrilled with that."

"Sirius has a girlfriend?" Euphemia asked, shocked at the new information.

"James is becoming a dad and Sirius is getting serious. Way to make us feel old, boys," Fleamont says, an infectious smile on his face.

Sirius narrowed his eyes jokingly at the man. "I didn't miss the pun in there."

"You weren't supposed to."

"His girlfriend lives next door," James chimed in.

Sirius glared at his brother, knowing that Euphemia would insist that he introduces Kat. "Well, James and Olivia practically adopted a first year in Hogwarts."

The two older Potters turned to the parents to be in question.

"His name is Lucas," it was Olivia who answered. "He's eleven, but he has dyslexia so the healers made him wear glasses to fix it. He's adorable."

"Adopt him then," Euphemia encourages again.

"Mum," James calls. "You talk about adopting a kid as if it's as easy as adopting a dog. We're seventeen."

Euphemia shrugs. "You already have two kids, might as well go all in."

James only let's his head drop to his palm as he sighs, knowing his mother's excitement with children. Euphemia Potter adores children. She had always wanted a big family, but due to her problem with giving birth, she was only blessed with one and now, she was seeing an opportunity to have the big family she's always wanted and she's snatching it up before it goes away.

Euphemia's words seem to have settled in with Olivia as she almost chokes on the milk she had been drinking. James was quick to start rubbing her back soothingly as she drank water.

It feels as if Euphemia has already got their life figured out, and the two of them aren't even dating yet.

"You guys will be staying here after school right?" Euphemia asked excitedly. "At least until you guys get jobs and a place of your own."

James and Olivia nod. It would be great to have a house of their own, but they knew it would be illogical. As of right now, they only have their parents' money and none of their own and James wants his first house to be from his own. There was also the fact that they're completely inexperienced when it comes to caring for a child, much less two. They'd need all the help they could get. It would also make Euphemia and Fleamont extremely happy which is a bonus.

"You guys can start designing the nursery," Fleamont suggested as he pushed back his messy black hair identically to his son's.

"We will," it was Euphemia who answered as she pulled out her wand and acciod her planner. "I have notes of baby stores around here that I found. Olivia and I can go visit them if that's alright with you, sweetheart?"

Olivia smiles and nods again. "Sure."

"You mean 'Olivia, James and I', right?" James asks his mother as he reaches over to check the planner. "Wow, mum, you've been busy. You even have spa and nail salons."

Euphemia snatched the notebook back from his son. "I meant Olivia and I."

"Why am I not part?"

Euphemia rolls her eyes. "Well, you don't have the babies in your stomach, do you?"

"No, but I'm the father."

"You're not the one who's going to be popping out babies from your vagina, James. You don't deserve to relax."

"I second that," Olivia chimes in, a teasing grin on her face.

"Didn't you mention that you guys need to start kegel exercises?" Euphemia asks his son. "Why don't you look into that. For the meantime, Olivia, darling, I bought some clothes the other day that I think you'll look gorgeous in. Why don't you try it out?"

Olivia nods as the two women stand up and heads upstairs. The Potters' interior is very simple, yet very beautiful. Everything is either white, beige, light grey or gold. The theme is very obviously ancient Greece as greek pillars had been strategically placed around the house to compliment the decorations. The doorknobs, stair railing and window panes were gold and illuminated the sun, giving the house a very airy and open feel to it.

"I placed it in James' room," Euphemia says as she leads Olivia to the white door on the left. Where the entire house holds an air of elegance and regalness, James' is a whole other different planet. It's, unsurprisingly, decorated with Gryffindor colors. Quidditch posters litter his walls as well as a giant Gryffindor banner. On the other hand, his room is surprisingly tidy as his glass study table contains arranged stacks of paper and quills and ink. Though, Olivia is aware of the framed picture he has of Lily on his dresser.

She tries not to let it get to her, knowing that the last time James occupied this room was last summer and he hadn't even known Olivia then.

"I had the house elves bring your trunk here as well," Euphemia informs her.

The older woman seems to be under the impression that James and Olivia are together and had fully expected them to share a room, and though she's sure there are other available rooms considering how big the house is, she bites her tongue, too shy to say anything in the fear that it might sound as if she's complaining.

And that's the last thing Olivia wants. They had welcomed her into their home and she'll accept what they give her without asking for more. "Thank you so much."

Euphemia gives her a wide smile as she sits by the edge of James' bed. "You're very welcome, darling. As I said in my letter, you're part of the family. Now, come sit here."

Olivia does as she was told and took her place next to the woman.

"James had informed us of your nervousness to meet us, and I just want to assure you that there's nothing to fear. We're not judging you, darling. In fact, we're very thankful for your and your babies' arrival in our lives."

Fuck James Potter and his damn big mouth.

You already did, a cheeky voice in her head whispered.

"Admittedly, we were very surprised when we first found out," Euphemia continues. "But you have no idea how terrified we had been that we'd be too old to meet our grandchildren. You're making that possible for us and for that, we're very thankful."

"Thank you," Olivia tells the woman gratefully. She felt as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders upon hearing the words.

"I've always wanted a daughter and now, I've got one." Euphemia says again, wrapping her arm around Olivia and pulling her into a side hug. "You can call me mum from now on."

Olivia wanted to tear up then. She hadn't expected such a warm welcome, but she held herself back as her smile widened. "Alright... mum."

They gave a motherly kiss on Olivia's temple as she finally stood up. "Now, come on, try these on then I can show you the room for the babies' nursery."

As Olivia tried on the clothes, chatting with Euphemia as she did so, she can't help but realize that she finally found home.

β‹…β€’β‹…β€’β‹…βŠ°βˆ™βˆ˜β˜½ΰΌ“β˜Ύβˆ˜βˆ™βŠ±β‹…β€’β‹…β€’β‹…

"NOT EVEN AN HOUR IN AND MUM ALREADY STOLE MY GIRL FROM ME," James whines quietly as he munches on the cookies. "I was going to take her on a date."

Just as that moment, Olivia and Euphemia emerge from the top of the stairs, both of them now wearing new clothes. Olivia wore the three fourths sleeved dress Euphemia had gotten her paired with black stockings and a jean jacket.

Her hair had been pulled into what looks like an effortless bun but in reality, had taken multiple tries to get it right and James can only pout more as his eyes hungrily took her in. She looks so damn beautiful and he can't spend time with her.

"You guys going somewhere?" Sirius asked the two.

"We're going baby clothes shopping."

James stood up. "Shouldn't I be a part of this?"

"Why would you be?" Euphemia asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Those are my children and that's my girl."

Olivia and Euphemia simultaneously rolled their eyes.

"Oh get over it, James." Olivia says as they walk out the door. "We settled this earlier."

"Don't wait for us!" Euphemia calls back to them as they enter the muggle car they had decided to use instead considering apparating is a definite no for a pregnant woman. "We're having dinner as Casper's."

"I can't believe my own mum stole my girl from me," James mutters to himself.

Sirius and Fleamont laughed as Fleamont placed a hand on his shoulder. "I hate to tell you this, son, but your mother has a new favorite child and it's not you."

"It was never him," Sirius butts in. "We all know I was the favorite."

"Actually it was Remus."
